West to East Coast Train Spotting at Crewe & York | 16th November 2024

A very exciting Saturday in Cheshire and Yorkshire as we train spot at both Crewe Station on the West Coast Mainline and York Station on the East Coast Mainline to see three steam charters!
We start off by taking an EMR Regional Class 170 Turbostar train from Derby to Crewe where we will see non-stop Pendolino's, Class 67 and DVT's, freight, light engine movements and a steam railtour "The Blackpool Illumination's" hauled by 45596 'Bahamas'.
After Crewe, we leave the West Coast Mainline and join the East Coast Mainline up to York via Manchester Piccadilly, we take an Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino train from Crewe to Manchester Piccadilly, then change for a TransPennine Express Class 185 Desiro train to York.
At York we will see two more steam railtours both called "The Christmas White Rose", one hauled by LMS Black 5 44871 and the other hauled by LNER A4 Pacific 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley', and both depart York platform 9 being dragged by Class 47 diesel locomotives. All make a perfect day out to the UK's two most popular train enthusiast spotting stations.
