Magical Evening at Derby Railway Station! | 30th January 2025
A very magical Thursday evening at Derby Railway Station in Derbyshire on the Midland Mainline as we get a big variety of heritage locomotive movement steam and diesel!
This was all a promotional launch event being held at Derby Litchurch Lane for a locomotive line up to get tickets ready for sale for the biggest event "The Greatest Gathering" in August for Rail 200.
We see two steam locomotives 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' and 35018 'British India Line' with their support Mk1 coaches, and three diesel locomotives in a trio cavalcade with Class 50 50049 'Defiance', Class 66 66315 and Class 69 69004 'RIDC Melton'.
Then later in the evening at night, we get an extra traction with a DRS Class 57 hauling an Avanti West Coast Class 390 Pendolino train, which is very rare to see at Derby Station, all this adds to a great late afternoon and evening!

Lovely Western diesel! I'm old enough to remember them in BR service and I still miss seeing them all the time. This is a great video - good camera work, the long bits looking out the window (I could watch those for hours), the airshow, trains & planes at Paignton, everything. Very watchable -thanks!
