The issue with today's kpop is everyone is trying to be overly hardcore, cute or sexy. Back then it was about confidence. They knew they had the talent and it shone through in everything. No need to be anything g they were.
But back in the days there were LOTS of kpop groups trying to be overly hardcore or sexy or cute. They are just forgotten by people these days because they weren't so successful

I kinda miss the older generations and their fun early 2000s vibes. When not every song had to have a rap break in it and could just be nice dance-pop all the way through.
One thing I see with SNSD is that they let every member shine when it’s their line, they don’t try to overtake anyone’s spotlight. When it comes to choreography we get to see every members personality in a way. Which is very different than how K-pop is nowadays cause they just always try to outshine one another and hope to get a solo debut.
