Monday Night Football returned to ABC on September 21st, 2020, after 15 years of absence from the network, and in limited fashion. ABC would later broadcast two more MNF games in December of the same year. Last week's (as of this writing) network television deals with the NFL would guarantee more MNF games on the network, both as a simulcast with ESPN, and as an ABC exclusive during select weeks. Until 2016, ABC had never broadcast another NFL match since Super Bowl XL. Their first NFL broadcast under "ESPN on ABC" was an AFC Wild Card Playoff game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Houston Texans.
@@flashedwheat6783 NBC will object to that because it would mean they would lose the NFL for the first time since 1998 and lose all of the revenue associated with that. If SNF left NBC, NBC would have none of the Big 4 sports since the NHL is likely to leave NBC at the end of the upcoming season for ESPN.
If Monday night football moves back to Abc it wiĺl just be espn on abc. But people who don't have cable will be able to watch it and that's the big difference.
"NFL Monday Night Football" has lost a lot of it's luster since the NBC "NFL Sunday Night Football" package has the advantage of having the top NFL games, and the ability of the league to move big late season games from Sunday afternoons to Sunday nights to put them on NBC and make those games available to every TV set owner.
I didn't think at the time ESPN would do such a terrible job,I get it SNF gets the best game of the week like MNF on abc used too but damn the broadcast doesn't have to be so awful. Sad. I try to separate ESPN mnf from the real MNF on abc in my head.
I’m so glad they brought it back. Monday Night Football should be accessible to those of us who can’t afford or don’t want to get cable!
Dandy Don Meredith "Turn out the lights, the party's over" then Hank Williams Jr says "cuz Monday Nights will never be the same again!"

Well, it happened to a select few select ABC Owned and Operated stations. (Like for the Eagles, WPVI 6ABC in Philadelphia)
In recent years, Monday night NFL games have been simulcast on over-the-air TV in the two cities whose teams are playing.
I’ve always hated the ESPN on ABC banner.
And now ABC will be airing MNF every week for the entire 2023 season, albeit mostly via simulcast on ESPN.
It will continue beyond 2023.
Monday night football is back on abc baby!!!!
Al Michaels never got to ESPN.
He came to NBC in time for the beginning of the "NFL Sunday Night Football" series.
He initially agreed to join ESPN, but NBC made Disney and Michaels an offer he couldn't refuse.
MNF has been slipping and falling ever since it left ABC, Disney would be foolish not to put MNF back on ABC when the next deal is up in 2021
They Need To Bring “Monday Night Football” Back On ABC. It sucks on ESPN.
They should move “Sunday Night Football” to ESPN.

@@chrisguardiano6143 the NHL leaving NBC for ESPN, does this means we might to hear the theme song?
@@flashedwheat6783 stop.
Well well now Disney needs ABC 🤣

sunday night football replaced mnf as the best matchup of the week, monday night now is like the 3rd best matchup because its on espn
I see you everywhere, please stop
Put the NFL back on ABC also it's kinda crazy it's 2022 and still not everyone has ESPN
Yes
So glad Disney moved MNF to co-broadcast on ESPN and ABC.
It will come back to ABC once the deals up.... ratings will be higher on ABC and Disney is all about ratings and higher ad revenue
It has happened
Why did they move ESPN to 11 and 12 and not 58 and 59
And its coming back to ABC again

Burt Reynolds is gone as well
#bringbackmnfonabcfulltime.
Al Michaels downgraded himself from ESPN to NBC
They need to bring ABC Sports back-separate from ESPN.
Agreed

MNF on Espn is so bad right now. It’s a terrible show.
Everything sucks on ESPN plain and simple!
ehh
Yup... haven’t watch since it left ABC. ESPN is horrible, terrible commentators and just to bland.
you do realize that abc doesn't have their own NFL broadcasts now and the mnf games on abc are a simulcast of ESPN
