LEGIT, one of the best bands I've heard in a LONG time and to think he started in a boy band...I knew he would do great things on his own but if you don't have a bad ass band like this to back you, good luck!
@@ambermcbrideford9828 to be fair, starting out in a boy band is very respectable from a skill point of view. Their job is to make money for a record label for cheap. Labels seek out particularly talented individuals because the less time they have to spend getting good takes in the studio, the less money they have to spend. Honestly, pop singers and musicians are generally the most talented people you'll hear on the radio, because they have to be.
He has several BBC live lounge performances if you like that type of vibe. He does Fleetwood Mac, Lizzo, Rihanna, plus his own songs. I love the Live Lounge platform of artists doing covers. Harry has a good time with them and he nails them. On another note, you should have WAY more subscribers, you're a joy to watch and you give us good info. Thank you!
Harry manages to sound almost EXACTLY like Peter Gabriel in this cover. He kept very true to Peter's sound and tone. It's pretty amazing and the entire band did an incredible job. If you haven't, you should check out the Sledgehammer music video. It's pretty trippy.
React to Harry’s npr tiny desk performance!! I love these live ones because you can hear all the dynamics and how each piece of the band fits into the song. Great reaction!
Harry's drummer Sarah is so talented like you said! If you want to see more awesome performances from his whole band I HIGHLY recommend their cover of The Chain as well as their St. Paul performance of Harry's unreleased song Medicine!
The drummer and the keyboard players are fantastic musicians, especially the drummer. It is not just playing, it is feeling and getting excited with the music.
TLB ... Howard Stern was impressed too. Remember him saying how he hoped they would include it on the playlist for the now delayed😔tour. He was so shocked when I called him the following week🥰 . . . dated the rest of that summer. All thanks to “SLEDGEHAMMER”😘LOL I ♥️ Harry’s version just as much if not more. ( Kudos to Stern for not asking him about his fondness for girly collars or his pearls. ) The younger Stern would’ve and the interview would have suffered because of it ...🤐🙏🏻🤙😉 ...
I actually watched this whole interview and Harry said how much he loved this song and they (the band) explained how they played song and which instruments they used. It was so cool. Plus Harry totally has the rock star vibe and it so works
The whole piece is insane - bang on. But that drummer! I think part of understanding this cover is knowing the original fully and its impact at the time of release. The song was made for Peter Gabriel's voice so for Harry to achieve such a spine tingling/respected cover was huge. He's going to keep growing and evolving as a solo artist in a big way...
Harry Styles is amazing, I love his music, his band, his personality, his covers and everything he does .... I love Harry Styles and I thank you for reacting to this covers, it is one of my favorites from him .. .. I loved your video .. thank you very much 😊🙏🤗
Blake, great breakdown AGAIN! My Dads been a drummer for over 50yrs and he even thinks Sara Jones (HS drummer) is amazing! Thank you for doing this cover, they did a bad ass job! PLEASE watch "Girl Crush" the BBC version...I think you'll be pleasantly surprised and to be honest, I listen to both of these covers EVERY day! Lol! I love you Blake, you kill it every time and on the daily I'm waiting for what you're going to do next! Hopefully it's GIRL CRUSH!!!🙏🏼
Melonee Murray, sincerely one of the best I've heard or seen in a LONG time! Getting to see Harry is just a bonus! 😉 His voice is amazing...he's truly so gifted!
I’m with the group....do his The Chain and Juice covers. When my daughter was listening to One Direction I didn’t quite have the appreciation that I do now for how talented Harry is. I love how his music influences, things he listened and sang to growing up, have such a part in what he does now. His vocals, recorded and live are amazing. Have gone back and listened to some of his performances from his 1D days and I can see (and hear) why Simon didn’t want him to walk away.
This version of Sledgehammer is amazing ! Wow. Your insightful commentary is interesting too - helps the listener appreciate technique, style etc. I’m enjoying these videos. Thanks 👏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻
Harry Styles is just doing a straight up cover on this, all the music is the same, he's not deviating from the vocals at all. Even if you don't react to it , you should check out his performances with Stevie Nicks,
Ok... (breathe) you’re a music producer and you didn’t know the song? Search for Peter Gabriel. He composed music “beyond” and I’m not that super fan... In Your Eyes? Solsbury Hill? I Grieve? Steam? All the music of The Last Temptation of Christ? Ok ok ok chill. I also recommend listening to his days performing with Genesis. Magnificent.
That was what I thought too! Peter Gabriel literally discovered a sound that would come to define music of the 1980s and that many contemporary artists continue to use it today.
You know what presentation is also so good? Tiny desk concerts NPR Music. The hole band was there and everything was live in a really small space and it was amazing.
Girl Crush, Sweet Creature live in London he is wearing yellow pants black shirt, Medicine at St Paul, Lights Up live....oh yeah and Juice, his cover not duet with Lizzo

I love this cover so much. seeing one of my current favorite singers cover a song I loved listening to with my dad when I was younger is an awesome feeling 😊 super fun to watch along with you! ps would love to see a reaction to Dua Lipa’s new album Future Nostalgia!

Great breakdown! Thanks. I love this. Styles and his band here are excellent. They recorded the horns in studio previously just for this performance, because it was a tight space and it wouldn't fit everyone haha. There's where she got the samples from. Also the drummer, her name is Sarah Jones and Harry himself likes to say its her band and he's just the front man cus everybody is always saying how great she is. Harry's band is simply amazing. They are part of the reason that seeing Harry perform live is the blessing that it is. Talented group of people!
Abbey Boyle yeah that drummer was locked in the groove!
AGREED
So excited you did this one. Now you need to do his “Girl Crush” cover. I put off watching it for so long. Don’t make my mistake.
hahah In that case, will do!
Yay! Specifically, the live at the BBC version. It’s the best ❤️

As someone who listened to this a million times in the 80s, this is an EXCELLENT cover.
You haven’t heard the original by Peter Gabriel? 1986. It’s a classic. Harry Styles does a great job covering it - sounds like Peter Gabriel.
