LOL, I had 945D tuner exactly like Nathan described. Opened it up, soldered all the taps on the coil. and it worked very well. I think all the cheap stuff out of China was the death of the MFJ company. MFJ's niche was always selling "cheap" merchandise that most hams could afford. Like them or not, they knew how to keep costs down and sell cheap. But in todays market, the impossibly cheap flood of equipment out of China is impossible to compete with. In the last 30 years I've bought and sold tons of MFJ stuff, and the vast majority was perfectly fine. I will miss them, 73 K9ZF
