    33:05 The feeling of meeting someone that just makes your life better in the most trivial and casual way is something I relate to so much. I met one of my best friends in college after a class. I heard him and some friends talking about Lovecraft and I just... said "f'thagn"... out loud. It was an impulse in the moment. And he turned around, looked at me, moved chairs and we just started talking about everything. 3 years later he's still one of my best friends

    What happened with your former best friend has happened to me too many times to count. People I thought were my good friends suddenly had convenient excuses every time I tried to hang out with them, until eventually they just stopped talking to me altogether because I guess they just got sick of me? The worst part is the lack of closure when people ghost you like that; to this day I still don't know what I did wrong or what to do differently in the future to avoid the same outcome with new friends.

    • @ProfessorViral
      @ProfessorViral  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The lack of closure is one of the hardest parts about it for sure. It leaves the door open to every possibility as to why it happened, which is a torturous state

      @@ProfessorViral What really helped was when my therapist reminded me that those people were probably going through their own shit too and it wasn't necessarily my fault. It's been such a pattern in my life that I have a bad habit of assuming that these people always end up leaving me because something is wrong with ME and I have to remind myself that may not actually be true. But because of the lack of closure I'll never know for sure

      As the person who ghosts others, even knowing the pain it can cause, I can tell you it isn't you generally, its the other person. We all going through something, and generally people ghost because they're too consumed in there own neurosis to feel like they can help or have the right to help others.

    People may complain about it but your personal segments really hit close to home. You speak truth to the actual human experience in many of them. Here, you saying think about how many stories YOU are included into through other people put shit into a lot of context for me. I watched this video earlier today with $10 to my name and rent looming. I figured the situation out by nightfall but had a talk with a friend of over 10 years that spanned ours. This video entered my head during it. Im not in a good place, and all of my closest friends ive made in these last 10 years are coming together because of that "collision of life." I dont think about it much, but Ive changed all their lives in a way where i am irreplaceable. It took them telling ME that for me to realize.
    I agree with you. Fuck science, fuck religion. We dont know where we came from or where we are going. But you look around and the only thing you see are (ideally), other human being living their own lives. I dont know a lot. But i know we need each other.
    Thank you for this video man. Dont stop doing what you're doing. And dont stop the honest truth of the experience.

    This reminds me about how I met my girlfriend. It was the first day of highschool, primary school had been pretty rough so I was just a lil broken emotionally at the time, some guy I was talking to went to greet his friend and I decided in that moment to go with him.
    And I met her! We just instantly got along, immediately clicked. We had to cut off the guy because he got really jealous and accused me of “stealing his girl” (they’d been broken up a year) but I will always admit I owe him one for introducing him to my soulmate. Love at first sight CAN happen kids🥰

    There was once this person in middle school gym class who kicked me, whether it was intended or not (hard to tell looking back on it as we were playing soccer), that somehow started off a friendship with them. Things went well, and even though we didn’t share too many common interests, we still were friends. However, about 4 years later I began to feel a disconnect. The group chat of me, them and other friends began to have less and less new messages. We met up with said friends for a Christmas party. One thing led to another and there were two groups of people: me with another person and the others. After the party, there was very limited discussion on the group chat, and then they practically started ignoring me from there.
    I could write a whole story about that night, what led up to it, and the aftermath, but I’m not gonna do that in a TH-cam comment section lol. Too much writing, personal things, and time to actually lay it out to make sense.
    All in all, I don’t think badly of them. They were just doing what they thought was best, and even though I wish I was still friends with them, I’m just glad they’re happy.
    For good and for bad, that person and the night that split us will be in my head forever.

From The New World and Psycho Pass do such creative jobs to ask the questions i think they were trying to ask of what it means to be human within a group and all the dangers that comes with when trying to regulate violence/justice. Love the questions they pose to population ethics, morality, and the concept of what is justice when we are not all made equally/the same.
      Spoilers:
      Who was more evil in From the New World? The Elders that set up the main society. Or Squeera for his "ends justifies the means" and dictator like approach to the revolt?

Though of course, coming back home with no one there waiting is sad; not a girlfriend or pet. Solitude is perfect until that small human part that craves socialization pops up and you need to sate it.
