This tutorial was very thorough and easy to follow! Since you’re using cotton batting, in theory it’d be pretty simple to dye it a color a little closer to the color of the hair. That way any batting that shows would probably be less noticeable. Of course, this step wouldn’t really be absolutely necessary, but I think it could save a little bit of grief during the later steps. Great job and thanks for the video!
Hooray for more cosplayers on TH-cam! I have all the hair to start my Rapunzel braid, and this is the most helpful tutorial that I have seen. Mainly because you showed how to put the tulle onto the braids to prevent them from tangling! Thank you. I gave you a subscribe, and I look forward to seeing more from your channel. PS You should do a tutorial on the down-the-back version braid next. ;)
Sadie by Design Thank you so much!! The next wig I’m working on for a customer is the bigger braid, so I can film something while I craft that! Thank you for your support!
Hi! I ended up with one of your wigs, such a small world! I don't know if you still use the duck tape method for the wig and hot gluing it to the inside, if you're not hurray! If you are, I would recommend putting ribbon on the back near the nape on the wig and putting snaps. I tried wearing this wig through a 2 hour meet and greet with the way you had done it previously and ended up with the WORST migraine I've ever had. I took the braid and wig apart and changed it to a snap on and it's way more comfortable and no more headaches!! I LOVE the way the tulle looks and the lights are a freaking dream! Thank you for all you did to make it! I'm actually going to attempt my own because I got a new top wig that's in a different shade. I can't wait to try it! I feel like I'm going to be in hell for a little while attempting it but I'll let you know how it goes!!
Dear Lexi i saw your video on how to fix Rapunzel's wig, my friend gave me her old one, I tried to fix it and it looks pretty good for a first time fixer. is there a way you could give me some more tips if i decide to take apart agian and rebraid it? Love, Princess Rapunzel
Fun approach to such a task. The batting you are using is NOT cotton it is 100% polyester. Is glueing the tail inside the wig hold? It seems to be a lot of bulk and I would be heavy.
You’re correct :) I just tend to use cotton batting as a general term, but it wouldn’t make much of a difference using cotton/poly cotton/or polyester. I never had any issues with the glue faltering!
I like the idea of how you made the whole thing and that you can make the braid as long as you like without needing a looong wig. I also like the idea of wrapping the strands in tulle (tul? Tull? You know what I mean) so the kinda stay in place. But I honestly think you could have pin or glued the ends of the wefts in place to avoid having that many gaps of white material showing(I don't know the name in English. In Spanish it is called "napa"). I think the whole work you did is too detailed to just kinda let that gaps be. However I think you did a good job hiding that white spots afterwards and you can mostly see them only if you get close. I just worry you will have to be constantly checking on the braid to see if the hair has moved and left a gap. Please don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to criticize your work to be mean, I'm just metioning some details that I think you could improve. Even so, I haven't made a single Rapunzel braid so you are free to tell me if my comment comes off as judgy.
KenziiCosplay I won’t be making this style anymore, but I’ll be finishing up a new style with 100% hair that should cost around $175. You can message me on Instagram if you’re interested! (@lexivaughancosplay)
Blue Moon Cosplays Yes! I do commissions. I’ll no longer be making Punzie wigs in this style, but I’m finishing up one that will be 100% hair, and should cost around $175. Message me on Instagram if you’re interested! (@lexivaughancosplay)
I have 2 questions! How heavy the wig is? And is the lace front wig helping keeping it on when you glue it down to your skin? Also I looove how it looks I been meaning to do Rapunzel wig and this helps a lot! So Thank you
Pyro The wig as a whole weighs about 5lbs. But I have fasteners that I secure to my costume to help support the weight! The glue does help some, but honestly, just a couple Bobby Pins, and the clips that come in the wigs, hold the wig in place just fine :)
you just saved me from making the most complicated wig known to man thank you 😭

Very true! You would need a pretty big pot to do so, but definitely an option!

Thank you so much for posting this!! I've always wanted to make my own Rapunzel wig, and this tutorial was a big help and inspiration!!
This is such an amazing tutorial! Thank you for this, you’re so talented!!!
Is the hot glue gun strong enough to keep the heaviness of the braid on?
I’ve never had any issues with it peeling off!
thank you so much!!
Looks nice.

I use a hair dryer to reheat the glue, and it peels right off!
Can I ask what sewing machine you have? GREAT tutorial btw!!!
Just a Singer Simple!
This if fantastic, thank you!
