- A multi-actor reading of The Valley of Adventure by Enid Blyton. This version was dramatised by Edward Kelsey. I had this tape as a child and loved this telling of the story.
Philip, Dinah, Lucy-Ann, and Jack are invited to join Bill on an exciting night flight. But the aeroplane trip that was to be a simple treat ends in a beautiful but dangerous valley that is hidden from the outside world. The children find more than even they had bargained in the lonely valley.
It is abridged with a 45 minutes running time, but maintains the tension and excitement without over-simplifying. Making it ideal for bed time or car journeys and my kids prefer these versions also. Recorded with a multi-voice cast by Rainbow books (and later released by Tempo).
This is shared from a recording of a cassette tape, so lots of old-fashioned tape noises and hiss, but still very listenable and an enjoyable telling for childhood nostalgia or for a new generation of listeners that can make pictures in the mind.
Words can't express how happy I am to find this. I have been looking for it for 20 years on and off but forgot the title as my cassette burnt in a house fire in 1993. It was an uncanny experience to be able to pre-empt most of the dialogue almost 40 years after first hearing it. Magical. I can't thank you enough!

Me too - ever could find it either. And then was clearing out boxes from my Mum's house and came across the old tapes. Really enjoyed discovering it again and so happy to share these.

I used to think how can I find my lost Enid Blyton stories. The valley of adventure was always a favorite of mine. I prefer the adventure series more than the FF & TSS series more. Thank you for uploading this!

Hi there! I justed wanted to say a big "Thank You". I am working in a care home with people who have very different kinds of disabilities and there is one companion who is writing this audiobook. As it is part of their disorder they can't just do another story. They have been writing this story for 5 years now, over and over again in various colours. In all that time their tape started to wear off and we weren't really able to understand a word which made it a big challenge to help him with his work. We couldn't find it anywhere on eBay but now that you've kindly uploaded this on TH-cam it's perfectly understandable and I can finally help to fix a couple of phrases and get the whole story in place which I am doing right now.

I came on here after trying to find the Rainbow audiobooks, I never listened to the Enid Blyton audiobooks but I had the Roald Dahl and Disney Rainbow audiobooks.

Planning work through the old tapes I've found. Also have some CD freebies of Blyton mystery stories published by Hodder; they also abridged dramatic versions. There's quite a few of the full audiobook readings on TH-cam and other streaming places already and often people prefer those unabridged to the shortened versions I have.
