BigNuge yes I saw but I don’t consider an impact driver on a little shock bolt as using power tools. Had he used an impact wrench on the u bolts then I wouldn’t have said that

I hear you....just having fun. In the end, power tools are a very good thing, and a huge time and busted knuckle saver. In today’s broad spectrum of DIY work power tools make a lot of it possible!

Yea, power tools do help but also in some places its a bit tight to fit a big impact wrench with a socket. But when ever I can use one its always helpful and less time wasted.

BigNuge yessir. I bit the bullet and bought a Milwaukee impact and it has made my days a lot less longer and a lot more easier lol

Nice and rusty, just like our cars here in New England. I’m doing this now to my 99 XJ. I’m finding many fasteners are breaking off, and I’ve been soaking everything in penetrant for weeks!

Yep, Rust is the worst thing on Xj s and older Jeeps but also if you have some room and if it is safe, a torch with some heat can help break loose some fasteners.

If you don’t mind sharing, how much did you spend on your wheel/tire package? Did you get a set of 5 to include a full size spare? I’m going 33’s, plain black steel wheels (my XJ is red).

The wheels/tire package from Jegs with some discounts was 1,100 shipped to my front door. I only got a set of 4 but I do plan on getting a spare but haven't decided on where to keep it, Like a roof rack or rear tire carrier. Black wheels are always the way to go, they make the Jeep look meaner. Also what size lift are you going with.

Exact same lift you did. RC 4.5” X-Series. I bought new shackles ahead of time, also bought all new sway bar bushings, all new leaf spring hardware, upper rear shock flag nut kits, extended bump stops (front and rear) RC steering stabilizer, track bar bolt kit. I have completely disassembled the rear section of the XJ, dropped everything out...even the fuel tank. Scraped, brushed, cleaned, treated everything with rust converter, let that set for a couple days, too coated it all in Duplicolor truck bed liner (just did that tonight).
      Going to do this ONCE!
I’ll be following along to see what you do to your rig next.

Wow, lots of extras. Your Xj is going to be riding better and with the undercoating your Jeep will last a while. also did you cut some part of your fender to fit 33's on 4.5 in lift.
