As George Balanchine had planned, each seat in Lincoln Center has a good view of the dancers and stage. Balanchine's Nutcracker choreography and costumes are inspirational.
I LOVE the waltz of the flowers so much. Those romantic skirts are just stunning when the ladies are turning and jumping and they truly do look like flower petals. And the Dew Drop fairy was just magnificent as well of course.
I have a soft spot for ballet skirts and dresses and those big fluffy flower skirts are my absolute favourites I even want to wear one just to twirl in it and to see how it feels
Is the lead in (ashley bouder) playing the Dew Drop Fairy i think i's called?? I've heard of the Dew Drop Fairy being in the Nutcracker but my studio doesn't include so I was wondering if this what it, Anyone know and wanna tell me?? Thx.
lacouerfairy well sometimes principals will have to be in the corps de ballet because one of the members is gone and the two purple flowers are pretty important in this dance because they sorta lead the other flowers. Hope that helps!
No! Principals only dance principal roles. Sometimes soloists & corps dancers do principal parts, but no dancer ever dances parts meant for those of a lower rank.

Watching this production for class and Ashley Boulder just absolutely steals the show, she’s so magnetic and effortless.

piggylover2 She's pretty much the 2nd in command under the Sugar Plum Fairy.
The Dew Drop fairy is only in the Balanchine version of The Nutcracker.
Oh Bixby
😍
Call me biased, but I think the American Nutcracker is way better than anything done in Europe.
Did they do this recently? What year?
Wild Magic I want to say 3 years ago?
The New York City Ballet does The Nutcracker every year at Christmas time. In fact they have a full month and a half of performances!

Was that Rebecca Krohn as one of the purple flowers? Wasn't she a Principal at that time? Kind of odd for her to be cast as a flower.
I noticed that too. I wonder if that was really her or someone who looks like her. I agree, odd.

Of course not. Yes, she was a principal by this time. It was probably Ashley Hod who somewhat resembles her.
In NYCB I think that at times principals sub for soloists, in solos and featured parts but they don't sub for the corps I believe.
