    Jacob, your video’s are top notch quality gold. You are doing an incredible service to the entire RV industry by educating us and highlighting poor design in build quality. This is exactly what we the consumer needs to help hold the manufacturers accountable, keep these videos coming. I recorded and published a coupe recent video on my TH-cam channel on this very topic, my freshwater fill was so bad it not only leaked but it has a kink which lead to fill issues. After thar video is when I discovered you, which helped me correct my leaks and fittings.

    Thank you Jacob! We appreciate your up front and straightforward information! I have recently experienced a small drip / leak at one of my connections (flexible tubing, pex clamp, on a copper manifold). Per your video - a complete “no no”! This was on my 2018 Tiffin Open Road - just started leaking in 2024. We bought some stainless steel hose clamps…and fixed! I do watch it like a hawk…but it has been great / no issues. I have now gone through the entire RV and have checked the plumbing connections in an attempt to prevent any further leaks / issues.
    We truly appreciate your videos and information! Thank you!!!

    I’m brand new to this RV’ing stuff. I needed to add a filtered drinking water dispenser under the kitchen sink. I researched how to tap into the flexible hose. No solutions. A knowledgeable helpful RV parts guy told me the issues you covered but didn’t mention your solution.
    I decided to use a Pex-A solution with expandable fittings since I had the expansion tool. A professional plumber once told me that he liked expansion fittings because they spend the rest of their life trying to tighten, compared to the pinch fittings which spend the rest of their life trying to loosen.
    For the tap-in T-fitting I got a barbed one appropriate for Pex-A. The sleeve needed to be pre-expanded to fit over the flexible tubing. I then expanded the tubing and sleeve normally.
    So far it seems to be working fine. I have a lot more confidence in that expansion fitting than the other pinch ones.

    Jacob,
    I love your videos. I am a master electrician and a life long rver that has owned 7 rvs. The rv industry does not care about nfpa 70 or nfpa 1192 because they don't have too. Nobody is inspecting there work other than themselves so they can getaway with whatever they want. Rv dealers and manufacturers are some of the crookedest people on the planet and really don't care about rvers or camper. It just an avenue to make money. Until there is some regulations, it will never change.

    Glad to see your calling these manufacturers our. I've been doing it for years on my channel about their roofs. If you're a GC, then you know these roofs are installed wrong....ON purpose, to sell product. I am a a former 3 state lic ese commercial GC and this is not the way a flat roof is installed. Although as a rule, codes are written with the intent to safeguard people, that does not apply I'm the RV industry. It's ALWAYS to their advantage..the entire RV code is cloaked for them to deceive people.
    IE: Res and comm codes dictate to protect wires from chafing and potential abrasion when in contact with sharp boxes etc. We constantly show on our vids these manufacturers will not put a BX cable bushing in the sharp ferrells they run the wires through.

    Excellent video. A cursory search will show the manufacturers of the fittings and the hose state that this is an incorrect application and cannot be assured not to fail. Been RV’ing for close to 40 years and the decline in overall quality is disturbing. I just did a sweep of our unit on my channel and discovered one place where this is done. I can get to it to correct it, but it will not be an easy job. Any info on how RVs get the RIVA seal? I’ve heard rumors that it’s analogous to the government investigating itself and declaring everything is OK. Thanks much !!

    • @undercoverrvtech

    Well, I'm glad our new Alliance had 99% good plumbing (which I learned from watching your vids before I bought and then doing lots of crawling around with a flashlight at RV shows), but I missed this one behind the panel. Because of your email (I'm a subscriber), I used the link you provided to grab a replacement hose with proper fittings. I'm glad it's an inexpensive fix. You mention "tool-less" but I'm wondering if I need to install threaded male fittings. I don't suppose anyone could point to a demonstration / explanation / installation video?
    Alliance has been amazing to work with and after hearing stories of how other manufacturers and dealers serve their customers, I'd still 100% go with them again.

      @undercoverrvtech  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      On the Delta I made a video about it actually has the threaded adapter to PEX installed, so it is just a matter of unscrewing and screwing in the updated pre-made flex hose assembly. It would not surprise me if on some they crimped the flex straight to the PEX rather than using threaded adapters. Feel free to email me photos of what you have so I can make a better reccomendation. I'm really sorry they snuck this in on everyone.

    Sir, I love your videos and you're correct in principle, but I must correct you on one thing. NFPA is NOT a code, it's an industry organization. Now with that said, the IBC does refer to NFPA in some cases such as NFPA 13 for sprinklers. As an architect it becomes difficult to understand which standards apply, but rarely is NFPA the adopted code. Sometimes the insurance company prevails with more stringent requirements (GM Global).
    The takeaway, you're assessment of plumbing is spot on.

    • @undercoverrvtech
      @undercoverrvtech  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Good point, thanks for the clarification. The RVIA has voted to adopt the NFPA 1192 as the standard for RVs being built, so I guess they think it is a code. Based on what you are saying the IAPMO is also just an industry association, so the ASTM would be the only applicable code, and that certainly does not permit this bad plumbing connection. Yeesh, so it sounds like I was correct all along to say that this connection does not meet code because they are using industry association documents to justify the bad plumbing. Would that be correct to say?

    After getting home from reviewing the trailer I was interested in after watching some of your videos. I was still confused as to what good plumbing should look like and I saw and watched this video. Thanks, so I think the plumbing looked correct. However, I think there was one place I saw this flexible tubing, I think it said something about flush … it was attached to the outside fitting, ran up to another fitting right under the sink counter and the other side of the fitting straight down, to a tank? I should have taken pictures to review.

    • @undercoverrvtech
      @undercoverrvtech  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, that is the black tank flush line. I'm not concerned about those connections as they never have full water pressure because there is no valve to stop water flow. The water just flows through when you turn it on. That is one exception I teach in my shopping course as to when the bad plumbing connections is acceptable. I still prefer to see PEX tubing there but will give a passing grade.

    I only buy rvs that are at least 2 years old so any issues will have most likely appeared and been taken care off. But if buying new i recommend waiting till you're ready to buy and dealership is giddy on making a sale, then you mention the plumbing and if it's bad then you just say, fix it or i walk. If dealers start losing more money because of this and they don't tell manufacturers to shape up then they'll have to fix it or lose a sale. This is getting out of hand.
