Hi I got my dogs ears show cropped yesterday and was searching on TH-cam for after care. My corso’s ears came out of the bandages last night by itself, everyone’s saying it’s not a big deal but today he keeps itching the cone where his ears are… what should I do?
Definitely leave the cone on. They will be irritable and itchy, it’s part of the healing process. If your dog isn’t taking something to deal with the discomfort I suggest getting something from your vet. At the time of crop I left the vet with medication that helps them with that.
@@sonny7833 okok, thank you! The vet gave 4 days of pain medication and 14 days worth of antibiotics. He seems to be doing better now but I’m concerned about the white stuff on his ears. Vet said not to use water to clean but do u think hydrogen peroxide will help?
@@utkarshsreshtth1277 I’m not sure what white stuff you’re talking about exactly. I 100% recommend contacting your vet for advice. If there aren’t any open wounds and you’ve been following the vet’s advice then you’re probably ok. Again, I would contact your vet for advice though.

@@cloudvisualz I don't own a corso but I have owned a lot of dogs that typically get cropped and docked like great dane, Doberman, etc. I have not had any of my dogs cropped because there are no positives, just looks. I have a Corso puppy. This is a outdated procedure. It was useful when dogs were soldiers or used for dog fighting. These are pets now. This is unnecessary trauma for the puppy, and expense for the owner

Not unnessary but true. As I said its pain for cosmectic use only. Not sure what country this is but Europe banned all this and quite rightly so. There are no excuses.
Sadly, some veterinarians still see nothing wrong with mutilating a dog whose guardian is willing to pay for it. The American Veterinary Medical Association states that “ear-cropping and tail-docking are not medically indicated nor of benefit to the patient. These procedures cause pain and distress and, as with all surgical procedures, are accompanied by inherent risks of anesthesia, blood loss, and infection. Therefore, veterinarians should counsel dog owners about these matters before agreeing to perform these surgeries.”
oh I'm sorry so when you have a guardian type dog breed that lives with other large dogs and could get into a fight with wild animals or pack members that a cropped ear does jack shit? stfu cropped ears help the animals tons and provides protection to the dog and the ears are less likely to get infected if its done medically rather than in a fight

There aren't really any. Mostly just for looks. Cropping the ears and tail can harm the dogs ability to communicate effectively with other dogs
hi there, did you cropped the ears? Im also doubting if doing that to my cane corso

How old was your dog when you croped him?
10 weeks
Did you take the scabs of?
No! Scabs are a part of the healing process.
How did you post his ears can you show me???
No posting involved.
Did they take out the stiches after the 4 weeks?
Nope! They came out by themself.
Stitches must have been dissolvable. Otherwise they don't naturally just fall out.
Was there a different smell on the ears?
Maybe a little 😂 but nothing notable
Hi. Did you had to tape them in the healing process?
Luckily I didn’t have to!
Updates? We just got our pup a show crop too
