    In the military I ate whatever and drank and trained a lot. Was strong and looked like a power lifter weighing 230. Got out did one show for men’s physique naturally and just learned about nutrition and now I’m naturally weighing 205 with I would guess 12-15% body fat. Biggest changing factor for me was just the diet aspect. Feel way better now and can enjoy all kinds of foods and keep the body composition I like.

    Completely agree on compound lifts as foundation, but to build my legs without risk of injury and push heavier my go to has been the leg press. 🙌🏻✨

    I'm training for 3 years now. My freind from college introduced me to oyu about a year ago. After listening for some of your episodes i realized i was overtraining for the past 2 years and i felt fatiqued and tired all the time but yet i pushed even more. You guys made me train to feel good not look good and aesthetics came alonmg the way. I never looked better, i never felt better because of you guys. I wish more people would know for your chanell. YOu guys are so underrated. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all what you do. BTW i don't know if i wrote down everything correctly because i'm from Europe from Slovenia so..yeah

    Excellent segment guys. I always learn so much from your podcast. I am a 63 year old male. 3 years ago I weighed 263 lbs and I had atrophied to where I could barely do a proper pushup. I started a carnivore diet and was only doing cardio for the first 3 months and then started lifting weights. I was doing a lot of light weight high rep specific body part oriented workout. I was still losing weight but I was not getting stronger and then as Adam pointed out I hit a wall. It was so discouraging because i was working my ass off and felt I should have progressed more. It was then I discovered you on You Tube and purchased MAPS Anabolic since then my strength gains have greatly improved. Currently I am doing Anabolic round 2 but with progressive overload. I am down 76 lbs from my 263 depending on water and feel great.

    Keeping track and adding deadlifts and squats, has changed my strength. Having 5 compound lifts in the routine helped my physique. Currently running maps strong and that program is excellent.

    I've seen bodybuilders like Arnold, Chris Bumpsted, Frank Zane, Ronnie Coleman, and etc, but NONE IN ALL HISTORY, have never ever even come close to the overall look as the GREAT STEVE REEVES!!!💪🙂👍

    Very true . I got up to 275lbs from 163 natty over 10 years at 5"11 . Never got chubby just fat around stomach . I'm wide tho. Shoulders are 46" arms 18" calves 18.5" quads 30" neck 18" . So it is possible just a very long slow process . Especially when leaning down over a long time is better.

    Cracking point on not trying to “progressively overload” everything in one session, I will definitely look at adopting this in my workouts with more diligence. Whilst I try to beat the exercise in ‘some’ way, form, tempo, etc but honing in on one or two areas to actively progressively overload in a session or mesocycle sounds like the way to go.

      I struggle with this too. Im always trying to get one more rep on everything than the previous workout. It usually wprks until the last few excercises then i underperform.

    Mind Pump I thank God that I found you guys. This podcast answers soo many questions that I have. I lift pretty intense and one of the questions I have is how can I look good without taking steroids. I'm not against it I just wanna see what I can do before I take that route. I'm getting ready to start training twice a day but I need some tips and guidance.

    Love the clarity you provide on what reality is. It seems to be something lost in todays world. Be happy with the natural physique you worked hard to obtain and don't compare against others as their circumstances are not the same as yours. I have to remind myself of this way too often.

    I am a new listener… but love the content. 52 year old on a 6 month cut lost 50 lbs and realized after listening to you that to move to the next level I need to rebuild my calories 1700 to low and at a stall. Trying to trust the process. Looking into your programs now. Thanks for your content. What program would you reccomend? Been lifting regularly for a few months now that I switched from mainly cardio.

    One thing people need to learn is to max out natural potential before trying these things because if you aren't already living the lifestyle putting in the effort and trying to recover, taking exogenous hormones isn't going to help you all that much. You can't enhance something at the level of zero, you want to enhance something at the level of nine

    Another solid episode. My favorite point was your mention that for females it will simplify take longer to build equivalent amount of muscle mass to males. I have been consistently working out and meal prepping for two years. Successfully dropped 25 lbs in that timeframe. Once I knew as a "female" I was making great progress instead of comparing myself to male counterparts, it made me feel proud to be where I'm at as a "female" haha. I didn't know that stuff called testosterone was the main factor factor for building muscle. So obviously it's easier to build muscle for anyone with high testosterone , most commonly males. Please make an episode targeted specifically for women on the realistic expectations for "progress". I try to explain to my female friends that this is going to take YEARS and they just don't understand the truth in that. My male friends also don't believe me when I tell them "bruh if you ate right and worked out consistently for 6 months, you'd see way more results than I could ever make in a year!"

    Whats for more important than size, is shape.
    You can be as big as you want.. if your proportions are off, you wont look good. Its that simple. I'm almost 28 years old. Its taken me 10 years of training to actually achieve the shape that I want. You should always chase the shape before the size. Do not take PEDs before you achieve the correct shape, and that may take years of bulking and cutting to get. But once you have it you'll know exactly what your genetics are, and if you can actually compete.

    I’ve really backed off on upper body to build my legs I’m religious about working legs but they are still lagging being 6’5 215 and still relatively slim it takes so much food to see progress

      I’m 6,4” 235 right now. Maybe 15-17% bf and have legs that at least look like I do sports. So, for you, 240-250 at your height and a similar body fat is kinda the long term target for muscular looking legs. Obviously 240 and 10% bf is gonna be pretty impressive!

      You doing good dawg. Just keep it up and be consistent. Everyone has a lagging body part they need to bring up. You might need to change routine or add a exercise you might not be doing or hate. My biggest area to bring up was back. So I made it my first workout of the week when I had the most energy. I incorporated Rack pulls and weighted pull-ups, my back got so much stronger and it increased my deadlift and grip strength. Now I deadlift much heavier, all my other lifts are increasing because of this.

    I think this question is very watered down. "Can You Look Like A Bodybuilder Without Steroids?" the answer is yes! OF course! The people using steroids are the exception. They surely show the pinnacle of what hypertrophy training could do for anyone, but with enough effort anyone can look like a bodybuilder without enhancements. I hope this mentality doesn't get to the younger folks as it has been a trend now for them to use PEDs at such a young age. Greg Doucette even was contacted by a teenager, an 18-year old boy about HGH! Now that is alarming considering how young the kid was. At the end of the day, why risk using PEDs when it can harm such a supposedly harmless hobby of self-improvement? Great episode MindPump team!!! Always looking forward to your content!

    Is the type of physique described in the vid possible with only calisthenics? I used to lift, but 3 years ago I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a type of bone marrow cancer. It wrecked my bones, especially my back, so I can't lift anymore.
    In the past I reduced my body weight from 350 pounds down to 175, so I'm definitely capable of extreme ridiculous consistency 😄

    It's really hard when you first start out to see all these influencers look so good, and a lot of them are working towards bodybuilding. I've decided I want to look like a power-lifter. 😁😁😁 Strong, but I don't have to be super lean.

    Eggs are a borderline steroid and it is a shame that some people still think that eating whole eggs is bad for your health.
    The benefits to eating 10-12 whole eggs per day are insane with everything from speeding up recovery to raising testosterone levels.

    It’s hard to look like a bodybuilder with steroids, achieved a really great physique 200lbs 6 percent body fat but I definitely wasn’t competing with me Olympia

    Can someone help me out here? How do you work the part of the tricep that is right above the elbow? My elbows hyperextend, so I can't activate that part of the tricep until the arm is hyperextended... I don't care about the aesthetic aspect of it, but I'm worried that being possibly unbalanced might affect the biomechanics of upper arm movements (functional, in the gym, and in real life).

    I had a trainer for about 4 months and made great progress. I’m now struggling with how to put together my own strength training plan on my own now that I don’t have a trainer any longer. Any advice? I’ve been contemplating either MAPS Resistance or MAPS Starter. I’d like to remain working out at home with dumbbells, bench, kettlebells, barbell.

      I'm not 100% sure, but most of their programs have at home modifications. I know Anabolic does. They also have a kettlebell program. I know Maps anywhere is designed to be done without a gym. I hope you find what works for you.

      theres a MAPs program specifically for bodybuilding (aesthetics) using a kettlebell

      The best thing you can do is figure out what worked, see if anybody is doing something similar and try to learn from them. It's not easy learning how to program but once you get the hang of it it's pretty fun. Once you have learned enough from other people that might be doing something similar that has worked for you, then you can start doing a little bit of trial and error but I wouldn't do trial and error with your entire program, maybe bits and pieces if not just one movement per cycle

    Great video guys. I have been listening for a while and I want to get a program. I have been lifting since early 2020 using a self created program based on a push pull legs split. I am not sure which bundle to get.
    Currently i go to the gym for 5 days in a week or 6 depending how the PPL Rotation looks. I do push pull legs then take a rest day and go in again for the same( reason being i want to deadlift on pull and leg days)
    I have some shoulder pain from barbell pressing so i now only use dumbbells, which i now do about 42kgs for reps. Current weight at 105kgs @ 1.78m probably 30% body fat . gained about 8kgs Fat since January. So i want a program that can have a weight loss focus as well.
