My parents grew up during the great depression. So we planted 5 acres of food for our family of 5. We got our seeder in the early 70s. I still have it, works great still. We had heavy clay soil with lots of dirt clods. That made using the seeder more difficult than your powdery soil. But it is a game changer when you do truck patch gardening. Glad you found it helpful!

I had a funny thing happened this year. I planted a bunch of bulbs, last fall - tulips, crocus, allium. In the spring, the tulips and allium came up perfectly. I wondered where the crocus were. They came up a bit later and to my surprise, they never flowered, but just got really tall and spindly. I happened to pull one, the other day in annoyance, and realized that I had not planted crocus bulbs at all, but had planted green onions. I guess it just goes to show that buying bulbs from Costco might not be the best option. They had been labeled crocus. Now I have a whole lot of onions to eat.😂

Every time I see you doing stuff on the new, new property, I laugh remembering you saying many times, “I don’t know what we’re gonna do over there, probably nothing for a while” then “ran out of room in the cfg“ 😂 gotta love it. I love the yellow. I love yellow and red but the purple is nice. My sage wintered over in my raised planter and it got to 19 degrees in Georgia but it is huge now.

Your new "toy", the seeder is a very handy thing to have for seeding long rows. Quick and fast to do. I've seen those in seed catalogs but I've never actually seen one being used.

That was so interesting watching you plant with the new seeder. No kidding that it may be a game changer! I can't wait to see how everything comes up. I am glad to see you planting your corn in blocks. I used to grow several types of corn at home and found I got so much better polination in blocks. Have you ever thought about planting ornamental corn? It is so fun to shuck since each cob looks different and they make fantastic fall dislays, even if left on the stalk with the leaves pulled back. There is even a "strawberry" variety that has small, dark red kernals. The church pots look beautiful!

All the containers are so beautiful!! Harmonious and yet each is different!! The shade containers are really outstanding, I think maybe more varieties of plants 🤔😍💕 Oh, and there’s a similar device for planting plant plugs--don’t know the name, but it works in conjunction with the little paper pot plant system 👍🏻

We did plants in the grandkids swimming pool for years, especially zinnias that come back the next year. (And we plant a few more seeds to make sure it fills ...in....now we have great grandkids that no longer get to come that are (13...7 and 6). It was very hard for me to give up that little blue plastic pool...can still picture the children in it and then the flowers ❤❤❤
I used Blue Juncus last year and loved the show they provided. In the fall I planted them in the landscape ( zone 6a Kansas City) and was thrilled that they were hardy. What a great textural and color accent that just keeps on giving.

That will make for some interesting mowing. I did like your idea for the cattle panels or perhaps the vines will overtake the flowers. Then again, the flowers may just pop up above them and be beautiful too. It will be fun to see how it all plays out. What a great use of the new space. Love it!!

I have purple fountain grass in two containers in the front of my house and I absolutely LOVE them. They do get big quickly and I love so and it’s such a lovely sight 🌾🌾🌾

Can you direct sow the Cosmos? Did you plant water melons? Sugar babies are smaller dark melons and they don’t take as long ‘til harvest. This will be your cornucopia year💗💕❣️❣️❣️😊

Wow, that seed planter is amazing. Even for people who have smaller gardens, I think it would be good. Elderly people like myself, bad knees and hips, could use that item to have a fuller variety of plants now. I can't crawl around and seed things, so it would work great for me. I love sunflowers, but can't start them from seed due to my knees and hips. I am wondering if Aaron remembers where he ordered it from? Thanks so much! That new garden area is going to be both productive and beautiful!

Such an exciting time of year. I love planting new stuff. We (zone 8a, coastal NC) are having an unusual spring as well. Today is cloudy and quite cool with a low pressure (mini tropical storm) approaching. It is normally hot by this time each year. Not a good weekend for all the tourists coming for the beach.
