This guy is such a joy to be around (even virtually)! How are you not a happy person when you’re around him. And his garden is wonderful!
She sounded pretty happy and excited. She talked more than him, laughed and said, I loved it every few minutes.
He is a fountain of information, it would have been a lot better if she had not interrupted him so much and let him finish his thoughts. He has a stunning garden and home.

I love shakkei! I have an ornamental grape vine that spills over my fence from my neighbor! It spills over and flanks my washing line! I trim around the washing line so it frames it and softens it. I was thinking of training it around windows of back of house but re-thinking after hearing about the 🐀 rats 😂😂😂

Ohmygoodness I will be watching this garden tour again and again. I enjoyed it so much. Michael is so inspirational. The artwork in the garden blew me away. The plants, seating and eating areas are better than any resort. I love that he stained the fence, planted the plants and maintains everything on his own. He said it’s doable and he’s encouraged me to step up my gardening game. I live in hot Texas zone 8A but even I can use some of Michael’s ideas. Janey thanks for sharing this great garden with us. Loved meeting Michael and his dogs.
Janey, I ❤ this tour, Michael is a hoot and the secret garden vignettes are fab! His story about the Chess Set literally gave me goosebumps! Really!
As an artist, I also love the art (and stories that go with) interspersed throughout their garden. Not to mention the gorgeous, functional decor inside. Now I'll continue watching the last half😂.

I absolutely loved his garden, I especially loved when we went inside and looked out, it was like I was immediately transported to Thailand or Indonesia. It was very zen-like. So gorgeous.
18:10 bedroom view - just 4m2 turned into a full garden space, only a handful of plants, privacy screening without losing the light, absolutely amazing. Must see.

This is hands down one of the best videos in TH-cam-land on the subject of landscape architecture!! Michael's talent, aesthetic and infectious personality are incredible. I love that he's tackled the everyday issues of pets, insects, and problematic plantings with such honesty and a sense of humor. I planted a trumpet vine over my detached studio and cried when I had to tear it down because of rats. And, I'm shocked/thrilled to learn that Sacramento is in zone 9! I'm in New Orleans and we are zone 9b, so his try-it-and-see approach is greatly encouraging. You've done a wonderful job with this interview and thanks so much to Michael for sharing his knowledge and allowing us into his home!

Awesome garden with interesting plantings and art. The owner has vision and understanding for creating a beautiful space. I like the down to earth approach. I’m happy for him to have been able to be reunited with that interesting chess table that he had designed so many years before.
I toured Michael’s garden last Sunday. I learned so much more watching this. Thanks for featuring his space. And it was surreal meeting you and seeing your garden also. My daughter suspected I picked last weekend to drive 300 miles to visit her in San Mateo to meet you … I’ll never tell 😂.

I loved this garden tour!! What an amazing space and his mind just works in such an incredible way to see what he has done to his yard is mind blowing. It's was such a treat to be able to see his work! It was so enjoyable!! I got so many ideas! I absolutely loved all the textures and hardscapes with such a layered approach with all the trees and gorgeous plants to steal your attention from one spot to another.
Wow! His yard is amazing!!! I did wonder if the backyard trees on the side fence will not outgrow the spot.

Such a beautiful home and landscape! Great job and thanks for the video. I'm a 5th Gen Floridian and retired Landscape Contractor. I've done work at the 1982 World's Fair, my Grandfather introduced me to the Tree & Nursery Industry more than 60 years ago. Both my parents were in the Agricultural Business here in Florida and my mother is a Master Gardener who still works in her garden dailey. I love gardening and the industry has grown so much. The modern landscape has the ability to change our attitudes, if the masses were left without outside pressures, the modern landscape could create enough peace and tranquility to create harmony and happiness in our lives.
That said, I kept thinking out loud, turn the camera around! You are such a cutie, I could listen to you all day. Thinking I need to watch more of your videos;)
