Now the fashion is back for big sleeves the ham is a lot better when ironing after washing than the sleeve board. Great little how too vid.

Great tutorial and I love these oversized ham and roll. The flat bottom on the ham is an excellent idea. I always struggle using the hams sold in stores. Another great video, 😊

Thankyou for this tutorial, I have been thinking of making these. Will have to find some saw dust though.

Thanks for another great tutorial Marie. I dont need those items as I have bought ones and they truly tend to last forever but I still enjoy watching your creations. I just watched your last one where you made the denim wide leg pants but by the time i went to comment on it,, YT said it had been removed, so I will comment here again that it was a great video and you look great in them as usual. I love your hole puncher so much that I went and ordered one off ebay mid way through the video lol. Thanks again and I will be looking out for more videos as I am learning so much from you. Kindest regards, Saleena from Austraila

Hi Selena. I was wondering who watched it in that short time. I am right now trying to re-upload that video, but that will probably take about 12 hours.... rural internet....so hopefully it will be back on soon. Long story. 😂
Anyhow I hope you enjoy the hole punch!

Thank you. I too made mine years ago and love them. I am curious about your choice of sewing machine and how you came to use them. Your sewing machine has the most wonderful sound--it just purrs.

Hi Debbie! My sewing machine is a Meister Klasse 201. It is a machine from Germany. Thanks for watching😁

Hi Gennifer 😁 Maybe try tightly rolling up several newspapers into a log shape, and wrap that with cotton batting. Then cover the way that I showed with the hundred percent cotton and wool.

Do you have any concern about pine sap, sticky rosin with the ham and sleeve roll?🤔

Why do you use wool on one side? Wool fabric isn’t easily available in SouthAfrica

    • @mybucoliclife

Hello!! First, thank you for watching :) So the thing with wool is that when you iron, especially steam iron, over a wool base, the wool will retain the moisture and send the heat from the iron back up into the fabric you are ironing from below. It is a good base to iron on when using a synthetic that is needing a lower heat but still get a better press than if you iron on cotton. Also, if you are ever sewing wool (which you probably won't be, I understand :) you should use a wool base, and a press-cloth to make sure there is no shine.
So, if there is no wool available, use what you have. If it is only cotton, then use that. But if there is a piece from an old wool blanket or skirt somewhere that you can cut up, I would recommend trying it.
      I hope that helps :)

@@mybucoliclife thank you! Have been wanting to make the ham for a while but probably needed to see your vid with this new idea! Watched others but none suggested the wool! Sure to find an old piece somewhere. Great, thank you 🌻
PS sawdust is plentiful near me too!

Great video! A while back I made a memory blanket out of my dad's wool shirts and hunting pants, and pieced the scraps together to make the wool side of a ham. I like your flat bottom! Ill now make the sleeve roll out of remaining scraps out and see if i can piece enough together to make the sleeve roll from your pattern! My husband made m
