    I love how you really work with a product and try all different ways of application and different brushes before you give a review on it. That's why I appreciate you and your videos. Too often TH-camrs will just use a product once, give their first impression, and then put it to the side. Your reviews are so thorough, and your videos are the best!

    Wow! Noticed a huge difference immediately from pressing. On my monitor the swatch looked dark for a translucent powder. It looks like it gave a lot more coverage. More like a powder foundation. Thank you for your indepth review!

    I don't think it oxidized, the powder looks dark to begin with. Like a light bronzer... some brands are trying to come with innovative products because the market has become so saturated with options

    I think you should be wearing it WITHOUT a foundation. It says so on Sisley website and also I noticed it with their (very) old loose powder that I have for ages: It looks really bad on foundation but REALLY fabulous directly on the skin after only moisturize or with primer! Just wanted to share my thoughts.

      @michalchenlevin1474 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bikebuny5280 I don't know for sure. I guess. I was referring to the old loose powder. What I absolutely sure about is that I can not use Sisley powder as a setting powder, i.e. OVER a cream foundation. But it looks beautiful if I use just the powder

    I absolutely love this powder! Perhaps because I’m a medium-warm skin tone, but the color is perfect on me and totally invisible on my skin. It’s definitely skin-perfecting, hides pores, and gives a porcelain doll effect....just amazing!!😊

    Hello Michele! :) I've tried it today and I was very surprised that there's only one shade available. This is not a universal shade. It's too dark for me . It's like a bronzer for my skintone. Aside from the color which is not for me, it looks beautiful. It really blurs imperfections (I applied it on my bare skin by the way without using any foundation because I usually use only powder on a daily basis) It does oxidize a lot. I mean A LOT! lol Thanks for this wonderful review. xoxo

    I was waiting for your review on this; always good to see you're not the only one who has issues with a product. I purchased this when it hit the Sisley site and have been extremely disappointed with it. IMHO, it's a glorified powder foundation that turns your skin orange/darker. There are many blurring products out there that can be worn with foundation (be it liquid, powder, cream or even a tinted moisturizer) that doesn't cost a lot AND doesn't oxidize. Compared to my Chantecaille and Lancome powder foundations...they are far superior. Even the Sisley powder foundation works better than this. Using those with the Perricone blurring compact produces excellent results. The Trish McEvoy blurring powder is truly translucent and doesn't oxidize. I passed this Sisley product on to a family member whose face is lighter than her neck; this was perfect for her but she uses it as her foundation and not just as a blurring product. Excellent review as always, Michele!

    Why can't the industry find a way to prevent oxidation in products via a primer or a setting spray or some ingredient- EVERYTHING oxidizes on me at least 1-2 shades in an orangey manner. This would be horrible on me. I am so patiently waiting for that Sonia G face brush to come back in stock- It made such a difference in the application.

      do you have oily or dry skin? i have oily skin and i have the same issue, especially with liquid foundation. i discovered this a few years ago and my only solution was to go 1-2 shades lighter but make sure the undertone are the same. it’s odd, but it has worked for me. 🤷🏽‍♀️
      it’s definitely a challenge. if the industry came up with a solution, it would be amazing. 😊

  • @InqSheen

    My undertone is super yellow so I when I wear my foundation, I would normally pick the most yellowy foundation or mix it to make them more yellow. Any powders that are either beige or yellow in undertone will therefore oxidize on me, so i have to make sure I select a powder that looks really, really light. Also, most foundations will oxidize on skin whether I mix them or not.

    I’ve been waiting for this review!! I have used it a total of one time, and I had no idea if I used it correctly. I was so excited to try it that I used it over just sunscreen-who knew they recommended that?? I ended up using a Luxie brush to apply much like you showed, with a pressing application. I was shocked at how nice it looked!! My husband even said I looked pretty. But you are right. It is NOT translucent. Definitely adds some color. I’m thinking this might be fantastic with the Chanel Water Tint. So glad to see your video!! Very helpful!

  • @JefferyLin172004

    I bought this powder yesterday and tried it out. I have a pretty tan, warm toned skin tone so the powder is actually a few shades lighter, but not too much to the point where the lighter shade makes me look powdery. Oxidation isn’t an issue for me because the powder is lighter, but I do find the powder a little hard to work with due to the unique texture. I don’t have any natural hair brushes, and picking it up with my synthetic brushes is pretty difficult. I probably have to invest in some natural hair brushes.
    Thanks for a great video as usual!!

    Hi Michele, I recent watched Mel Thompson's GRWM video and she uses the Sisley blur powder. Not only did it add color to her face, she took the powder down her neck and decolletage, and the color applied there as well. Wayne Goss recently did a video about powders that oxidize foundation. The Sisley shade would not work for my skintone though it looks like an interesting product.

    I had never had a powder oxidize on me in my life-and I started with powder foundation for years, until I recently tried the CT airbrush powder to finish. I purchased fair and didn’t even see it when I applied it, though it was like my Hourglass ones where you don’t see anything when you first apply it, then I looked in the mirror an hour later and major oopha loompha! I couldn’t figure out what was causing me to go darker/ orangey. I’ve found if you try the Wayne Goss method of pressing and swirling a powder with a small condensed brush into the pores you’ll get the immediate effect of the powder and if it’s an oxidizing powder it will oxidize during the process

    • @TheMicheleWang

    Ooh! Translation - Get in my cart! Looks like a pretty powder. I do, occasionally, do the primer/powder thing. It's mostly in the Summer when it's ungodly hot. A light primer and some concealer to even out the complexion. The powder helps even things out, sets the primer/concealer and helps make it blend seamlessly with the rest of my face.

    I'm so late watching this! Just got this powder and your technique description is so helpful. I was buffing, but I can press. I do see how it darkens on you, but I'm slightly darker/warmer than you (MC30 in the summer), so while I'l still experimenting, I didn't feel it darkened on me yet. I will continue to try different techniques (including your follow-up video). Actually, as the video progressed the "darkening" on your face dissipated a bit. Finally, I have the oxidization issue with the CT AFF powder, in that one I have to use the shade 1 (lightest), as medium turned my face a noticeable orange.

      Also I don’t mind the color I basically use it as a “bronzing finishing veil”😅 Honestly if I want a blur effect there are high coverage powder foundations I can slap on a primer and be done.

    Having "lunch with Michele" is becoming a thing. Second day this week I have watched while lunching. Jouer has a soft focus powder that is similar in that there is no kick up and it almost seems as if there is no product on the brush that I use. I am going to try it now with a stiffer brush. Thanks for the technique tip.

  • @terriswarthout512

    It’s definitely too orange/deep for you in comparison to your neck & arms. It’s more like a bronzer for a light skin tone. I would recommend exchanging it for the powder that you liked so much in your video with Risa. The texture reminds me of Lancôme’s Subtil Blush, sort of a cream/powder which btw are my fav blushers. 🌸

  • @goldwaves
    @goldwaves 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I see a big difference when you pressed the powder. I was very excited for this . However, if I spend almost a $100 on a powder compact, i do not want it to oxidize. The oxidation is real, I can see it very well and with me, my foundations are a bit dark to begin with, if I was to use this on top of it, it will make me a bit too dark then.

    Hello Michele! Thank you for the video! I would REALLY love you to make a video specially dedicated to those new 'no powder' blur powders. I feel there are only two that fall into that category: Rae Morris Invisible Mattifier and Perricone 'No makeup' powder. I want to buy a kind of bouncy texture if you understand what I mean, which feels a bit like gel or balm to blur and mattify the skin. I feel there are similar 'powder' powders like Chanel's Poudre Universelle Compact, but I want that real no powder kick off effect. I suppose that you said that Chanel's Les Beiges is kind of similar in texture? Are they comparable with the Sisley one? Thanks a lot!

      They’re quite different. CT is light and sets makeup nicely. I don’t think it does a lot of blurring per say but it doesn’t make my skin look dry. This powder has more coverage to it and really has a strong blurring effect. The CT has never oxidized on me either. I feel like this powder could almost be used as a powder foundation.

    Thank you so much Michele for the tip of how to apply this powder to blur the skin. As I had written to you when I purchased it, I couldn't find any good reason to use it on my skin, it wouldn't show anything. Moreover I have light skin and the color looked too yellow upon application, even before oxidizing. Nonetheless I tried your tip and it works and I think it will look great for summer on a more tan skin, it would be bluring and luminizing. A big kiss from Paris

    I either use my hands, but prefer a very specific type of velour powder puff (more furry, less poofy), i can never get the effect I want with a brush or with the cheap puffs they sometimes give! I was able to see the effect and softening effect on your skin Michelle. It did add some color, whether or not it was oxidation or the color of the powder? Reminds me of the Chanel cruise collection- the light shade (Clair) of the bronzer duo. lol. Which wasn’t a bronzer .... companies are trying to get us stretching our minds but, hey, as long as you can get some use out of the product. You are great at figuring out these products! I love your videos and the care you put into your reviews. Before my retirement I use to use all of Sisley's skincare products for dry skin. Everything! Since my retirement it has become pretty much "out of my league" only buying luxury items occasionally. Very sad but true. There is one product I just couldn't live without and have used for over 20 years! I know you enjoy Sisley products and I wondered if you could do a review on

    Hi Michele, many thanks for this fantastic review.i love Sisley products and was waiting for your review on this powder. Now that you have said it, I realize that the loose powder of Sisley I have in Matt finish for a while also oxides a little. I was not aware until now. I like that powder but I prefer The Charlotte Tilbury or the La Mer ones. It is great that you have tried different ways of application, that is an inspiration for me cause I don’t normally do it and tend to think the product is not good for me and yes, very well done, sometimes you have to give it a chance or more. I like the blur effect on you but I do not think I am going to buy it, I am more interested in the emulsión of Sisleya you showed on your skincare routine ;-) 😘😘

    Intriguing. Just ordered to wear on top of the Sisley Sunleya SPF 50; another of my Michele Made Me Do It purchases.
    EDIT: Powder arrived and isn't enough for me over just SPF. Did look great over the Chanel Les Beiges Sheer Healthy Glow Moisturizing Tint however.

    Thank you, Michele, for this valuable review. Such a puzzling product in light of the claims made by Sisley. I wonder if it would also oxidize over moisturizer? Seems like Sisley needs to go back to the drawing board on this one. Does it need pigment to blur?

Do you find that one to be as beautiful on the skin, better or no comparison to the Sisley powder? 🤷🏼‍♀️ I would love your thoughts! Thanks 💗💐

    The powder looked dark when you swatched it and as soon as you applied it, but it looked lovely on your skin. I would use it like a mineral powder foundation in summer. Does it transfer? That would be deal breaker for me.

    i bought this the day it came out. i do not wear foundation ever. at first, i thought, this is doing nothing. maybe i left the cover on? it seemed like pretend make up i used as a kid. but i decided to get more aggressive w the application (sisley website video shows a very soft pick up and application) then WOW.. my skin is actually blurred and appears lifted! i applied to only one side of my face to see if there was a difference. The side without blur looks like i had a stroke compared to the blur side. wore it all day. stayed impeccably and no break out at all. If it wasn't so embarrassing i would post the pic

  • @jocelynel-fab5214
    @jocelynel-fab5214 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The oxidization is due to titanium dioxide, the second ingredient listed on the Nordstrom site. This mineral is prone to oxidization. I assume there is an spf number for the powder?

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I ordered & will receive tomorrow. This definitely won’t work for me, I’m realizing I’m even more fair than I thought w/ a cool neutral undertone...plus I really don’t get a lot of sun. Michele or anyone else that can help...I love the limited edition Cle de Peau Faeries d’Hiver Refining Pressed Powder in Push Me Pink. Does anyone know of a similar pressed powder? I know they have their refining pressed powder that’s not LE but the undertone of that powder is more yellow. Great video Michele! lol this teaches me to buy non limited edition products before watching your review. xoxo

    Why do I have a feeling that lately more and more make-up products change their colour while oxidizing on our skin? I feel that it wasn't the case earlier in our make-up era (even 5-6 years ago my make-up base, the most used all face product I use didn't change in shade that much on me during a day). What could cause it, have you ever thought of that Michele?

    Hi Michele, I know you said that you don't usually use powder unless it's over foundation. But, I wonder, did you try to use this with just a primer (maybe like the silk canvas or even the Sisley Double Tenseur)? EDIT: I re-watched the video and see where you stated you did NOT use it over primer, so that answers my question. I wonder if it would oxidize over just a primer? I am not big on foundation so I was looking forward to trying this alone (or with a primer). I still haven't received mine and think I may cancel it if it is going to oxidize like that. I'm not sure I will be able to return it once I open it, but it sure looks like it got a lot darker on you. Thanks! Ginny 😘😘😘

    How is this different than the Sisley loose setting powder that sort of does the same thing, I wonder? I’m not sure I like how it oxidizes. I like the way your skin looked, more, on the side that you didn’t have it on, prior to your applying it.. Your face is a different color than your neck..and who wants to powder all the way down their neck?
    It needs to be more a neutral color like the Irisee one in their loose powder line. IMHO-

  • @catc473
    @catc473 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Sooo, pretty much same opinion here! Gorgeous product once you find a way to apply it that you're happy with. It's possibly the best powder for blurring that I've ever tried. And you indeed can't see it (it doesn't look like powder). However... yes, the colour is off. I don't think it oxidizes on me - but I just feel it simply contains enough colour to show up on my light skintone - it will warm up my complexion and I think they should just have come out with a few shades, instead of claiming this single one is 'universal'. :-/

    • @TheMicheleWang
      @TheMicheleWang  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I noticed it seemed to have some pigment on my skin. But it really took me a few times to realize it also got a little darker! Of course everyone's skin will react to things differently. But it was puzzling! :D

    • @catc473
      @catc473 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheMicheleWang Hey you! Hm, I'll actually have a very close look next time I use it - you've made me curious in case I just missed the oxidization process! The other difference is... I applied it directly on top of physical SPF (Omorovicza Mineral UV Shield - love it so much), so maybe that created some sort of barrier and kept it from going darker?! I honestly don't know, I might be making stuff up haha. Will have to keep testing it and see what happens! Tx for your review btw, I am super excited whenever I happen to have the same product and I can hear your thoughts too! :-)

      @@TheMicheleWang Hi, Michele!🙂 My second day playing with this powder~ well I think it is very versatile. I can use it as a contour or bronzer in the winter when I am pale or all over powder foundation in the summer to match with the color of my body. 🏝It is not translucent as it claims.It is one to two shades darker than my cheek color. It is almost like Chanel Healthy Glow no.30 in color intensity. Gives off an elegant looking tanning effect on my skin.It didn't oxidize on me mayyyybe because I didn't use it over any foundation?. I used it over my sun screen. It is a little bit dense for me to consider it as a finishing powder. It is more like a powder foundation because it covers most of my age spots if I apply two thin layers with a sponge. Never have used any product like this before. I like that it is talc free and that it can be used any way you like. This and the new Chanel Eau de Teint foundation to me were the weirdest but most charming products this year. 🙂
