My man, in this video you overdid yourself in explaining issues of historical interest concerning Southern Africa. Thank you for the substantive and comprehensive exposition. You are a true Guru in your own right!!!
@@TaffyTheman what were their totems? Because that's where the main issue is. Until Zimbabwean's understand the totems of those Mutapa rulers they'll never understand what's going on in the country. And they'll never understand the tension that exists in the ruling class today. Thanks for the video. If you know the totems respond yes, if you don't know the totems say no. If Africans don't understand their totems they'll never understand their history and they'll never understand themselves. And because of that, there'll never be a way out or forward.
This is good Taffy. This is so easy to understand and it helps the emerging generation. I like the comic elements too ("Murenga yanga iri Ngwere"😂😂) Welcome back !!
Thanks Taffy. For me what was critical was whether Ndebeles have a right to Zimbabwean land. Your video is clear , and backed by facts. Ndebeles raided the Shonas and forcing them into submission. Please clarify kuuya kwaMutapa and the Rozvi empire. Looking forward to part 2
Mdara makanyanya I think if you could be consistent and introduce diverse content you are definitely the best out of Zim and can be on another level. If you could do even a podcast or host debates even via zoom with other people. That can explode
Thank you, Taffy, for shedding light on this important history. Just to add, while we often hear it referred to as the “Berlin Conference,” the actual name was the “Congo Conference.” This term is more revealing of its true focus-the Congo Basin, a region of immense wealth and strategic importance. European powers were not simply dividing Africa; they were vying for control of the Congo, a land abundant in natural resources like rubber, ivory, and later, vast mineral reserves. The Europeans wanted access to these resources to fuel their industrial economies. The name “Congo” itself is derived from the Kingdom of Kongo, an indigenous state that existed long before European colonization. The people of the Congo region were known for their rich culture and advanced political structures. By calling it the “Congo Conference,” it directly links the meeting to the colonization and exploitation of the region, as well as the ongoing destabilization we witness today. In fact, reframing the event as the Congo Conference forces us to reconsider the entire Scramble for Africa. It shifts the narrative to one of neo-colonialism-Europe’s continued extraction of Africa’s wealth under the guise of political organization. Even today, Congo is at the heart of Africa’s struggles, with its endless conflict fueled by international interests in its mineral wealth. It was meant to be the political and economic center of Africa, the beating heart of the continent. That’s why it’s crucial to understand that Congo is not just a country-it is, symbolically and materially, all of Africa. The ongoing violence and instability are direct legacies of this historical exploitation.
Mnangagwa must not create a political dynasty in Zimbabwe. He's crazy. What about the other tribes in Zimbabwe? Does Mnangagwa want to make them slaves in their own country? South Africa is deporting Zimbabweans. Zimbabweans want a safe Zimbabwe when they return home from being deported in South Africa. As Africans we must love ourselves and each other and we stop enslaving each other just because we belong to different tribes. At the end of day as Africans our Greatest ancestors were Bantu people.
Mzilikazi was actually invited by Chief Mambo of the Mthwakazi kingdom. He didn't rule alone. He ruled with Chief Mambo of the Kalanga, Chief Mambo of the Mthwakazi Kingdom. Hence the song that the Ndebeles sing,"umhlaba uya tshintsha kudala kwaku busa uMambo lo Mzilikazi". Ndini Moyo mu Botswana, ndiri muzukuru wa Chief Mambo of the Kalanga, Chief Mambo of Mthwakazi Kingdom. History often ignores Chief Mambo and praises only Mzilikazi. There were two kings in Mthwakazi Kingdom, Mambo and Mzilikazi
Mambo = King not Chief as you are saying. Just a point of correction. The Rozvi Empire was ruled by a Changamire who was equivalent to an Emperor with Kings under him. Rozvi Empire had no chiefs
The Angel of war Murenga Sororenzou that’s where the Limpopo Venda trace their origins as well, they even named their city Thohoyandou translating to Sororenzou. I was however looking forward to have the history after Chigwangu to the Dombo and Chirisamhuru. Also and the significance of Matopos (Mabweadziva) in consolidation of power by the Mwenemutapa.
Yeah, one other important tribe that l mistakenly overlooked, the Lozi/Lozwi. This people 's history is purposely overshadowed by the Shona history theory. When King Mziilkazi and his people arrived they come in contact with the Lozwi not Shona, but the Shona pop up from nowhere and dominate. How and why Taffy? Please elaborate in part 2. Thank you..
King Lobengula was never a Zimbabwean king he was a ndebele king his kingdom was known as Mthwakazi kingdom in that time now it's known as modern day Matebeleland..
