The singer's sincerity is genuine. Her voice is sweet. Viewers should also know that songs are songs and prayers are prayers. They are different. Each has its domain. This prayer of Tara is said to be spoken by Buddha Vairocana as an invocation. A prayer, hence, should be treated as a prayer. This is from an Asian perspective. In the liberal West, nothing else counts for much except your own individual view. You can go on a filed trip while your mother lies struggling in the ICU in a hospital. It s within your rights. It is not illegal. For a typical Asian, such a choice is morally unthinkable. Today, millions in the West are aware of this deficiency in their own society. They look to the east to find meaning in life. Asians can also learn a great deal from the West. The West's liberal views, however, should not be transported per se into Asian culture. As done here by converting a prayer into a song so that 'many people will be happy.' I hope the singer will not convert another great Buddhist prayer into a song. There is sacred song, of course, if she is interested. Given her voice and sincerity, she can do that with great benefit. Let prayers remain prayers.
