Bro you can’t fit everything in the title or description. Some people try to find the song by the name of the actor or director or music director & mostly singer. Lyricists hardly matter these days, most of the songs are bad & auto tune singers can make anything sound catchy so who cares about the lyrics ?

    • @saurabhnair5997
      @saurabhnair5997 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@@shadowsmessage I don't agree with that. Knowing a lyricist as an audience maybe it will be not so important but it's important to the lyricist itself. He should get his credit for his work. Just imagine your work in a job got no recognition and you are slogging daily, it's like that. And check out zee music TH-cam channel they give credit to everyone associated with one song. It's not that time consuming to give someone there due.

What Swanand said about the radio - that's so important. A lot of this change can happen if we as listeners start caring about the names of lyricists and radio still has a large part to play in that. Private radio stations NEVER mention the composers and lyricists, seldom mention the singers. All India Radio has still managed to hold onto this ritual somehow.

Beautiful chat. Thank you FC for bringing joy to us. I wish there was a more detailed & technical discussion on their work. Like a word-to-word or line-to-line review of some of their best crafted songs. For those who would be interested in such exercise, I recommend a book ‘JIYA JALE - THE STORIES OF SONGS’ ft. Gulzar by Nasreen Munni Kabir. Must read!!!

What a session! This has undoubtedly been one of the more enriching conversations around the world of cinema and the importance of lyrics in that universe. Absolute delight to hear all of them talk so freely, and kudos to the chiseled questions. Loved it.
*Please* talk more about lyrics and words and continue this in some fashion.

I"m in love with Varun Grover and his explanations. My favourite part was that where everyone was praising Amitabh Bhattacharya. It was my fav. line from the song Kajra Re too.

*_Read Complete Comment to Understand The Issue:_*
Musicians (Composers, Vocalists, Lyricists, Music Producers etc.) are underrated specially in Hindi Film Industry aka Bollywood. Regional industries which, many times, produce better content driven films always credit musicians. Nowadays all musicians all facing different types of problems in the industry.
*There are some points (bitter & true) which need to be noted. Everything is public domain. You can easily cross-check:*
    1) It's duty of viewers & audience to stop star culture & system. Everybody whoever have contributed to particular song or scene is STAR.
*2) They are multiple ways to credit musicians but non-creative people who basically control music always avoid to credit musicians.* ⤵️
    • Show their names in song videos at the beginning & ending.
    • Mention their names in song thumbnail & poster, press releases etc.
    • All musicians including lyricists must get artist status in every audio music streaming platforms.
    • *Release tracklists with credits* , Organise Music Launch events & invite all musicians & media.
    • Tagging actors in song videos (easily searchable) is more than enough instead of naming all of them on TH-cam title to give space for musicians. They are already on thumbnail.
    3) Most of the times music companies make excuses that they can't write name of all musicians due to character limit but they will write name of actors (& actresses) who are not even featured in particular song. Many times they only write name of actors only.
    4) Viewers only know actors by their face & they are everywhere on e.g. Movie Thumbnail, Song Thumbnail, Social Media, Print & Electronic Media etc. Rest of all creative people must be mentioned wherever they have contributed.
    5) Nowadays new age actors have attitude to discredit hidden stars of the craft. They don't even mention legendary musicians in their social media posts.
    6) Digital & Print media need to realise their duty. They write music review in headline but write more about movie & actors without mentioning all musicians. Sometimes people who, don't have any knowledge of music & poetry, write music review on the basis of digital hits. It happens many times. *What can be more shameful when RJs of FM Radio Channels will mention only actors instead of musicians while playing audio for audience?*
    7) All musicians must mention, appreciate & support each other for their music.

It is become a fashion to show the world that I have good taste, well we know how good these lyricists are and I love them but some comments are like oh I love only these guys and I am sure they look down upon other lyrists. Having good taste is good but showing off makes a person look so pathetic.

  • @Aditya_davicii

    A message for the lyricists,
It's true that lyricists are not mentioned many time along with their songs. I think one thing they can do is make some independent music and promote each other's work without a movie context. These lyricists are already very good friends so it would be easy for them to promote each other. And at this time of internet where anything can go viral, the songs of these beautiful writers will surely gain audience and without any movie references. They will be searched and shared more because it would be their own independent songs or albums. Once they gain their independent fan base or audience, the film makers will be more drawn towards showcasing their names. For example every time a bond movie theme is made it's publicised in the name of the song maker because they are popular names themselves!

I know the lyricists are best identified by their most popular songs but many of them have written brilliant lyrics for songs that did not go on to become big hits or even hit songs where the lyrics went unnoticed. I am thinking right now of Amitabh's adaptation of Bari Barsi for Band Baaja Baraat and Varun Grover's Bahut Khoob for Gangs 2.
