Best time to visit the battlefield is during the winter if you’re a student of the battle. The lack of foliage gives you a better perspective of distance and terrain……plus less crowds too.
Chris I'm in Loudoun county va. Lots of history all around me. I skipped school once to go to Gettysburg. Your content tells the stories I wish I could have gotten then. Thank you for doing what you do. You truly inspire me to follow my loves of history, family and Christ. Just be aware you're having more of an affect on people's lives than you can ever know.
I remember well my first visit to Gettysburg 32 years ago in December. Brutally cold, but I spent 9 hours touring the battlefield. I’ve been a civil war buff for 53 years and made 2 trips back since then. On my last trip, I found my 4th great grand uncle who was 19 and fought with the NY 126th regiment. He was killed on the second day of fighting against Barksdale’s Mississippians. He is buried in the National Cemetery there. Your video showed me some monuments I still haven’t seen yet. Thanks for your narrative on the monuments.
It was about a backwards group of people trying to keep a forward moving country from reaching its true potential. Slavery stunted the South’s economic and social development. The irony of it all is that only a small percentage of the southern population benefitted from slavery. But since the southern states lag behind in education, concepts like irony are lost on most of them.
Stop right there son, the war was totally about slavery! State's rights? Yes, the Confederate states believed they had the right to own slaves. Invasion by the north? Yes, right after the Confederates opened fire on Fort Sumter and lets not forget Lee invaded Maryland and Pennsylvania twice! The South started the war, the North ended it! And today the ownership of another human being has been outlawed!
I am a Civil War reenactor (63rd PA) We've been doing alot of events with the 11th PA.
Love the tree monument with the bird nest. Great video, sir. Thank you.

Excellent video, Chris. Very touching stories.
Can they fix the monuments or would that be wrong? Thank you.
How did you get permission to go up Little Round Top?
I was there a couple weeks ago and it was closed.
It just now opened
@@guynemer53 I wondered the same but I think it’s when he posted the video not when he actually filmed it
The video was shot before it closed.
The Civil War was never about slavery
if you believe that, I have some wonderful oceanfront property in Ohio I'd love to sell you.
