Spain's yellow card was a definite try for Fiji. High tackle on Caleb Muntz was similar to Radradra's 2 match ban. Oh the double standards on Pacific Island teams.
Great seeing the Iberian teams continuing to rise and improve in every game, no wonder the Spaniards made Fiji work hard to earn that win. By the way, wishful thinking here but IF the Six Nations expanded it might be something like this: 🇨🇵🇮🇪🇮🇹🇪🇦🏴🏴🏴🇬🇪🇷🇴 🇵🇹
I'm enjoying Portugal, Georgia and Spain at the moment. They are at least as good as Italy and Wales, so they deserve better games and more money to grow the sport. I'm English and could see any one of the three turning us over the way Fiji did before the last world cup. Look at Argentina, for years they were a team with a scrum, they got help, got better games and now they might not as good as NZ or SA but they hold their own.
As a fijian spain showed great set piece play and overall general play the scrum and lineout still needs improvement but that backline is really lethal the oppositions need watch out for this spanish side they can make waves in the rugby world. Fiji however despite winning was not at its best but its still a young side still trying new combinations and tactics. All in all great game but lots to improve on. On to the next match Fiji all the best and god bless💯
Yes, Fiji are but Spain was competitive in areas and the score reflects this. More exposure and they will improve more. Well done Spain and Fiji for having them on your schedule.
@@simionenauluvula7981 Yes, it is. Perhaps my expectations of Fiji are high as a top 10 ranked side and seeing their progress to date, still as win is a win and a good points difference.
Yes, in both rugby union and rugby league, a defending player can tap the ball out of the in-goal area to prevent a try, but there are some key details about how and when this can happen. Rugby Union: In rugby union, if the ball is bounced or kicked into the in-goal area and a defending player is under pressure to prevent a try, they are allowed to tap or knock the ball over the try line (or into touch) as long as the ball does not go out of play without being grounded (i.e., not a "deliberate knock-on"). This is generally used in situations where the defending team is under attack and does not want to risk conceding a try. If the ball is kicked into the in-goal area and the defending player taps it out of play, the referee will usually award a 5-meter scrum to the attacking team. This is because the ball has gone out of bounds without the defending player grounding it, which would have been their responsibility. If the ball bounces across the try line, and a defending player taps it out of the in-goal area before grounding it or it going out of bounds, the attacking team is awarded a 5-meter scrum (since the defending team failed to ground the ball or keep it in play).
This is incorrect, law 9.7 states that a player must not intentionally knock, place, push or throw the ball with arm or hand from the playing area. Sanction is a penalty, that penalty try was the correct decision, the Fijian player clearly knocked the ball dead intentionally. Sonny-Bill WIlliams did the same thing in a game against France with the same result.
Tier 2 really need a comp. Who wouldn’t want to travel to Georgia, Spain, Portugal, Uruguay, Samoa. If they inject money into that comp, so many players will pick those nations to enjoy travel, cultures and also consistent games. Tier 2 have enough talent to compete with the tier 1 nations but if tier 1 are shutting them out, might as well have a best comp in world rugby. It could really work.
I think it’s about time that referees, TMO’s and all of rugby’s lawmakers be forced to publicly replicate the scenarios where they’re expecting defenders to make nanosecond decisions to alter their height and trajectory in a tackle, then actually physically alter their height and or trajectory, to cater for attacking players unexpectedly altering theirs. If the referees and lawmakers can’t demonstrate the ability to do it, how can players be punished for foul play, for what is nigh on a physically impossible situation? At this point I expect all the authority submissives to reply with …. bUt tHaT’s tHe LAws, yOu juST hAve tO Do tHEm.
The fact there were no highlights (let alone any score), between 26mins and the second half, despite Spain having only 13 players for much of that period, puts into question what the hell Fiji were doing at that point.
Spain played very well unfortunately Fiji had a lot of indiscipline in this game it looks like if Spain play good they will qualify if they keep make sure if they keep playing eligible players they will qualify for the next World Cup
Was this a full-strength Fiji team? Because Spain looked admirably competitive till they ran out of steam. They seem to be progressing well. The Spanish commentators were surprisingly laid-back, though - compared to the histrionics of their football counterparts.
