It's like they took the ethics of the 80's movies and just threw them into the modern world. At first it felt kinda jarring, like they kept going half and half, but once they figured it out and committed to the bit it became charming. It's part of what makes Amanda so endearing. She's like a real person suddenly finding out normal is fake and life is an 80's karate movie through her husband's trauma. It's how she can go from being jokingly self aware to deeply concerned and not even recognizing the man she married as he falls deeper into it all.
Robbie lost that (moral) high ground the moment he kicked Miguel and it’s been downhill ever since. (Although he did get the literal high ground for a sec when Miguel was laid out in those stairs below him.
Robby getting unconcious by Johnny who didn't even attack him, aswell as getting 90% of it's hits blocked saying "You are Weak" is the funniest thing ever.
This series is crazy. I can’t think of any other show that is able to have so much fan service while still putting together a great story with well thought out character motivations.
Fun Fact, the last track that plays during the confrontation vs Kreese is called Duel of the Snakes. An obvious reference to Duel of the Fates, from Star Wars. Cobra Kai's writers have drawn inspiration from Star Wars when writing this show.
The various scores for the series have a few pun titles in them (but not every track, it's not like a Giacchino score, ha). "The Good, the Bad, and the Badass", "The Fellowship of the Dojos", "Twisted Silver", "Hawk's Prey", "Dungeons and Dojos". Though most of those are from the next few seasons, so one could say it becomes more of a thing starting with "Duel of the Snakes".

Giving Kreese a back story and making us feel for him is a real talent of this show, they took all the parts from the first 3 movies and they didn't waste anything. Kuddos.
They are forgetting how good Robbie actually is. He almost won the tournament while injured, just like Daniel did in the first movie, and that was against both Robbie and Hawk. He’s been able to go against both of them and other background fighters plenty of times before. The show does a better job at showing how equal Miguel, Robbie, and Hawk are later, but at this point they are also pretty equal imo.
I felt that way with a lot of the characters. I don't think there has been any characters that I didn't have moments of liking and disliking through the five seasons so far. Just great writing all around. One of the best written shows I've ever watched.

Robbie isn't a white belt. He was in the finals in Season 1, holding his own with a dislocated shoulder against Miguel. He's among the best fighters in the show. The white belt he had is simply because Johnny told the students to wear white belts in the dojo since the end of the previous tournament, and Kreese kept it up. All cobra kai students have been white wearing white belts across the past two seasons (also, it's probably just an easy way for the showrunners not to have to worry about student progression consistency).
Im not a big fan of Robby but even i can admit that he is not a beginner fighter in terms of this show and other kids, he went toe to toe with Miguel( I know he lost but he still went toe to toe with him)

Just one thing, Navi keeps saying that Robby's just starting (not that good yet or something), and Suraj saying they need someone new on cobra kai to bounce it up??? which is soo not truuee!! Robby learned from Daniel way before anyone else (except Sam obviously and Miguel who started learning from Johnny). Robby is one of the best fighters from the kids, definitely at the top. Don't underestimate him, he's a character that challenges and definitely worries the other side, 'cause he is good. :)
Hawk’s redemption was the highlight of Season 3 for me, man after seeing him literally kill Brucks man, he became my favorite character in Season 3, we knew that Hawk was changing for the good, because when he broke Demetri’s arm he had regret and he was second guessing himself because he knew it was wrong to do that. But seeing Hawk help Demetri and take down Cobra Kai was lit.
He really said that Ally wanted Daniel and Johnny to fight over her 😂 she’s good grown woman and she never wanted that even when she was a teenager either.

Sam is worse. Tori is a very obviously mentally unstable and volatile person, that's why her actions are so extremely wild and violent. There's no excusing her psychopathy but with her, it's at least straight forward and people know what they're getting into with those like her. Yet she tells half truths and consistently manipulates those around her to escape personal responsibilities and accountability which usually gets others unnecessarily hurt.

We kept seeing how much they were alike but had bad timing and misunderstandings. Now we've reached the Season 3 finale, one of the best season finales that's not a series finale, and it's so EARNED. to me the leader or general or whoever the hell he was was a liability. He didn't give hope to anyone under his command. Interesting background note. This show originally aired on TH-cam Red, but was canceled after season 2. Netflix then picked it up and Season 3 was their opener. It was an interesting line at the end "Are you ready? Lets begin" is a nod to the franchise getting new life. Also the reason they were able to secure Ali as well as those players in season 4 and 5.
The idea that Robbie is not as good is incorrect. Robbie made it to the finals and almost beat Miguel with 1 arm. These power ranking obviously are not realistic but in terms of the show. If Robbie is rookie in Cobra Kai, then Miguel, and Hawk are rookies in Miyagi Do Sam is a rookie in Cobra Kai.

Kreese learned that having mercy could be detrimental. Although he hated his captain, the captain taught him not to have mercy. Kreese realized that in life, it's the survival of the fittest.
It’s one thing to have to fight for your life. It’s another thing to attack me before said fight begins to give yourself the advantage. It was no mercy when he started it so it’s no mercy when I end it.
I like that scene in 3x9 with Kreese talking to Hawk, Kyler, Tori, and Robby because in the beginning of the season Hawk thinks that he is gonna be the champ Kreese was talking about yet Kreese overlooked him and brought in all 3 of these people to replace him and I think that definitely was a motivator to his redemption. Especially 2 out of the 3 of those ppl being old rivals to him.
Robbie is good but he’s not the best fighter. Both Miguel and hawk are slightly better. they are all on the same level basically. But yeah sorry Charlie almost only counts in horseshoes and hand Grenades.
Season 3's finale was jam packed with everything; with Alli with an I coming back from Vought's toxic workplace to relight a fire in Johnny, but also this time giving him a moment of growth, deciding that he wants to be with Carmen. Daniel also got to have a little protagonist chat with Miguel, and realise that he's not as bad a kid as he thought, given that he had a low opinion of Cobra Kai and Johnny's teachings. But given how the love triangle with Alli started the whole feud, it is almost apt that she becomes the first proper step towards self-reflection. With the kids, well, why stop at just one season finale less than legal brawl? This time with added breaking and entering! Poor Bert, but a common enemy does allow a truce, plus Hawk - albeit a little hastily, I guess one can assume that it finally clicked with him that his bully Kyler was on his side plus his annoyance of Robby being Kreese's guest after what he did to Miguel and he just remembered why he became a cobra to begin with - finally switches sides. Miguel also regains a bit of confidence with a mini acrobatic takedown. For Sam she overcomes her fears, but it does kinda make her 3-0 in competition/combat against Tory, but gotta have that Bo Staff vs Nunchaku action. But the fallout of that brawl leads to a most hyped and Star Wars-level of soap opera dramatic encounter; Robby has turned fully to the dark side, Johnny fights Kreese but his love for his son stalls him, and Daniel gets to use Chozen's pressure point technique to subdue Kreese. Two enemies finally united to a common cause, a finally battleground has been set - the All Valley - and since it's hard to win a fictional war when you're outnumbered, Kreese - remembering how his capture, the loss of Betsy and his killing of his teacher above a snake pit during Vietnam right before being rescued - decides to call on a friend, one he stood up for and owes him his life, the ponytail will soon return.

Tori knew Miguel still had feelings for Sam yet still pursued him and has the nerve to get pissed when those feelings came back up lol
Suraj, the kick was illegal in the tournament that Johnny and Daniel fought in. They had docked points in that same tournament for a kick to the face, then the ref instructed them that kicks to the face were illegal before their fight, yet Daniel was not docked a point for the kick and was instead given the victory.

to me the leader or general or whoever the hell he was was a liability. He didn't give hope to anyone under his command. Didn't own up to his own mistakes, treated everyone like dog shit, then basically taunted a dude who lost everything just so he could mess with him and kill him instead. I mean it's war I get it but that guy was a total douche.
Interesting background note. This show originally aired on TH-cam Red, but was canceled after season 2. Netflix then picked it up and Season 3 was their opener. It was an interesting line at the end "Are you ready? Lets begin" is a nod to the franchise getting new life. Also the reason they were able to secure Ali as well as those players in season 4 and 5.

I like that scene in 3x9 with Kreese talking to Hawk, Kyler, Tori, and Robby because in the beginning of the season Hawk thinks that he is gonna be the champ Kreese was talking about yet Kreese overlooked him and brought in all 3 of these people to replace him and I think that definitely was a motivator to his redemption. Especially 2 out of the 3 of those ppl being old rivals to him.

Season 3's finale was jam packed with everything; with Alli with an I coming back from Vought's toxic workplace to relight a fire in Johnny, but also this time giving him a moment of growth, deciding that he wants to be with Carmen. Daniel also got to have a little protagonist chat with Miguel, and realise that he's not as bad a kid as he thought, given that he had a low opinion of Cobra Kai and Johnny's teachings. But given how the love triangle with Alli started the whole feud, it is almost apt that she becomes the first proper step towards self-reflection.
With the kids, well, why stop at just one season finale less than legal brawl? This time with added breaking and entering! Poor Bert, but a common enemy does allow a truce, plus Hawk - albeit a little hastily, I guess one can assume that it finally clicked with him that his bully Kyler was on his side plus his annoyance of Robby being Kreese's guest after what he did to Miguel and he just remembered why he became a cobra to begin with - finally switches sides. Miguel also regains a bit of confidence with a mini acrobatic takedown.
For Sam she overcomes her fears, but it does kinda make her 3-0 in competition/combat against Tory, but gotta have that Bo Staff vs Nunchaku action.
But the fallout of that brawl leads to a most hyped and Star Wars-level of soap opera dramatic encounter; Robby has turned fully to the dark side, Johnny fights Kreese but his love for his son stalls him, and Daniel gets to use Chozen's pressure point technique to subdue Kreese. Two enemies finally united to a common cause, a finally battleground has been set - the All Valley - and since it's hard to win a fictional war when you're outnumbered, Kreese - remembering how his capture, the loss of Betsy and his killing of his teacher above a snake pit during Vietnam right before being rescued - decides to call on a friend, one he stood up for and owes him his life, the ponytail will soon return.

Few things. Robby isn’t an actual white belt in terms of skills; he’s a white belt for Cobra Kai but skill wise is a black belt.
As for the Tori and Sam drama. Tori literally talked about stealing then steals a bottle from the bar so of course Sam will naturally think Tori is who stole her mother’s stuff. Any logical person who comes to that conclusion. Tori knew Miguel still had feelings for Sam yet still pursued him and has the nerve to get pissed when those feelings came back up lol
Suraj, the kick was illegal in the tournament that Johnny and Daniel fought in. They had docked points in that same tournament for a kick to the face, then the ref instructed them that kicks to the face were illegal before their fight, yet Daniel was not docked a point for the kick and was instead given the victory.
@@Hoenhime344 they are trying to correlate Miguel using the kick in his tourney with the tourney in The Karate Kid film, but neglecting the fact that each tournament has its own set of rules...where small differences can occur.
