Excellent read! Trust is the best book I've read so far this year. I fell in love with the main character (the wife), such remarkable woman and life. Can't wait to see the movie ❤
Congratulations and thank you Mr Diaz

His painting with words is epic.

When I first picked this book up -I thought it sounded commercial -an investor who specializes in cigars, Cuban cigarillos, then J.C Wintworth Company. The marriage of Benjamin Rask with his ailing wife, here is where my whole attention was glued to this book. With Mildred, Edward, Ida P then the ghost writer who is typing the memoirs. This book is excellent..3-14 Diaz v. United States (06/20/2024)

I found a copy of In The Distance in a Little Lending Library recently and it's kept me up late this week. Reading and rereading it. I told a friend that it's a bit like The Painted Bird for the American West. What an interesting man. In The Distance is a hauntingly beautiful book. Diaz seems like a true artist of the word. Will look forward to reading Trust next. So glad the writer is getting the recognition for his talent.

@@calibby85 The description of his Swedish childhood was so stark, silent and bleak except for his brother. Then his aloneness until he found the kind man who cared for him. The descriptions of the two men's connection and attunement to each other was touching. The ending? What do you think happens to him? A life of solitude. Did his brother make it to New York? Haunting story. I live in the foothills of Northern California where the Eastern Sierra meet the desert so I can imagine him out there. He didn't want the boy to go with him at the end. Did he perish in the cold or survive? Will he sell it to Netflix and make a mini series?

Best, most astounding novel I've read in many years, and one of the best ever.

Hernan Diaz seems to be an adroit writer of words. I look forward to reading his new book.

Excelente libro. Siendo el escritor argentino , publicó el libro en inglês. Tiene sentido porque vive en USA.

I initially thought that the title of the book would refer to trusting other people, but after watching the video I realized that it’s actually a financial term.

And, spoiler alert, you would be wrong about why this is the title of the book.

First I've heard of this Pulitzer-Prize winner. Shows how coastal insular and forgotten the literary world has become.

He was on Seth Meyers a while back, what feels like years ago, but wasn't. When the book first came out

Reading this novel, I am reading about Rask and his very ill wife who succumbs to her illness, now we have new characters. Sorry I find this dry and now 1/2 way through this I am still waiting for a story. Where is it?
