Much of this is not accurate and doesn't include a bigger picture of the different Ayahuasca practises.
Most definitely he has not done his homework thoroughly enough.
Don't take this lecture as being a staple of professionalism. It's amateurish knowledge at best.

Have you read his book where he went and stayed with indigenous peoples who explained to him showed him experiences with Ayahuasca @ the place where persons/shamans have been using the substance for many generations. He's one of the first people from the West to do field studies with indigenous peoples in relation to this subject. If anyone's an amateur sounds like it's you.....

Perhaps not a staple by certain standards, but definitely professional. At this particular conference, Jeremy arrived with a background of over three and a half decades of both scientific and direct experience of the subject - all very well documented and highly recommended to read. If one does not consider reading one's "thing", look up other lectures and interviews right here on the TH-cam.
As for accuracy: he does speak of the problems accompanying the investigation of Ayhuasca, the early stage of Western scientific apprehension and the nearly impossible strictly analytical approach of researching a mixture with such a versatile nature.
As for amateurish: he did .. water it down ... quite a bit, but if you listen carefully to his introduction and compare this for instance with chapter four of his book The Cosmic Serpent - first published in 1995, ten years after his research - then perhaps you may understand how delighted he feels to finallly address fellow scientists instead of mostly fellow explorers.

He has a PhD from Stanford. Surely he must know a bit more than you with your high school certificate?
