- Watch as "Ramblin' Rose" takes a spin on my gazebo sunflower seed feeder, then he rambles over to my Oriole-fest feeder and surprisingly acquires a taste for grape jelly while dining with my Baltimore orioles. Watch for other surprise guests throughout.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful birds with us. Love the video and the adorable fledgling cardinals!
You're welcome, sharpei. I recommended you check out this vid, only to find out you already had. Lol. Thanks for watching and for your kind comment.
Wonderful video! I live in western IL and only get a once-a-year appearance by these beautiful birds. I envy you and the variety you get!
Same here! 👌
Thank you so much Molly. I know I am very blessed to thave these beautiful birds and I don't take it for granted. I see them every day from late April till late August, and every time I see one it captivates me and I can't take my eyes off it, stop what I'm doing and just watch it for awhile. If you ever get lonely to see one, please stop by and watch again. "Ramblin' Rose..." is easy to remember. Lol.
What a great video! Loved every minute of it. Moved to the north Ga mountains 8 years ago and have seen the red breasted grosbeak once since being here. Saw them quite often when I lived in Dawsonville, about 30 miles south of here. But today, I saw 2 at my feeders! And 3 Indigo Buntings were hanging out below the feeder. What a great treat!
Judyp77 Thank you so much for your kind comments, Judy. Glad you liked it. Three Indigo Buntings! Wow! I rarely see them. Maybe once every year or two. Be sure to check out my "Feeding Frenzy - Rose-breasted Grosbeaks" vid. too.
Nice close-ups. This is the first year I've seen Grosbeaks at our feeders - Columbus, MS. Enjoying watching them!
Love the fledgling cardinal too, great video!
I'm envious of your birds. :)
Happy to share them with you. They're your birds, too. Stop by any time and enjoy them. :)
Excellent video!
Up close & beautiful. :)))) I enjoyed the Cardinal with his young ones....4:28 u can tell by their black beaks & color. Never can't go wrong with Black Oil Sunflower Seeds .
Thanks for watching and for your sharp observations, Alexandra. I also love the little cardinal fledgling's whiny, begging sounds and the fluttering of their wings :)) You're so right about the sunflower seeds. They get a little messy, and the shells seem to blow all over my deck and deck furniture, but it's well worth it. :)
Love that bird, suck a beautiful bird. I have also captured them on a video camera, it seems they like to have their picture taken, they pose so well for it. Thanks for posting.
we have 3 pairs in chattooga county Ga
and yes they are beautiful
love to watch them
Round and round it goes, where it stops only the birdie knows.
LOL. Almost like a merry-go-round. I probably got a few extra views on this one from people looking for "Ramblin' Rose," as sung by Nat King Cole. If so, no one seemed upset about my bait and switch. Actually, Rose was doing a lot of ramblin'.
I loved this video. So entertaining. Thank you.
You're welcome and thank you for watching. Yes, they are such great entertainers.
Thank you for your kind comment. I was almost too close. I just have a Flipcam, but I bought a small tripod with adjustable 4 in. legs and velcro straps. It's the "Flip Video Action Tripod," from Amazon . I just position a shepherds hook close and velcro strap my Flipcam to it. Birds aren't afraid of it. My videos are usually very clear, but I feel I lose some clarity in posting to TH-cam. I love your video's clarity and closeness also. You must have a good cam and zoom.
We live in Gallatin Tn, first time we have ever seen one...love them!
This is south central Indiana. The grosbeaks summer here and bring their fledglings to the feeders.
Thanks for the information and advice. With my Flipcam videos I have been using the Flipshare software package to upload, just click on TH-cam, and it does it for me automatically. I don't know what format it is. But I may upload directly on TH-cam in the future to see if it makes a difference. Thanks again :-)
Thanks, glad you liked it. Be sure to check out my "Winter Birds' Feeding Frenzy" on this same gazebo feeder. It's not quite as close but the action is frantic and will make you dizzy.
Creatorwise, where is that? I have the exact same sunflower feeder (walmart), the exact same oriole feeder (amazon) and the same suit feeder. And just two days ago saw the first ever rose breasted grosbeak on the feeder! so excited. Saw a female one just today. I never had an oriole come, I don't have the oriole feeder out right now. I was putting humming bird juice in it and it sure caught a lot of bees. Your video is amazing. A video of both an oriole and a grosbeak on the same feeder.
Thanks for watching, Dasdfjkl, and for commenting. I love to watch these orioles and grosbeaks, they are so colorful. They summer here, and bring their young to the feeders. Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I captured them both on the same feeder. I can't keep the feeders full of grape jelly. I'm in south central Indiana, near Columbus.
Such great footage :-) How do you mount your camera so close? You have a wonderful array of birds visiting your feeders.
Thanks, Robert, for watching. I just love these grosbeaks. The male is so gorgeous and the female is so homely she's actually beautiful, if that makes any sense. Lol. I'm glad you get to see them live on your feeders.
i here a juvenile cardinal and a juvenile cowbird. plus woodpeckers and housefinch.
Good ear, Matt. Thanks for watching.
Beautiful birds and wonderful closeups! I'm looking for a more rural area to retire in a couple of years. A neighbor formerly from Indiana suggested Indiana. Lower taxes than WI. Hmmmm...
Thanks, Agent, for watching and for the kind comments. Yes, Indiana is great. I love Wisconsin also. Spent about a week each May for the last 30+ years up there morel hunting. Fabulous times. See my Morel Mushroom vids.
creatorwise : You also are a mushroom hunter? That's something I've always wanted to do. Another project for my retirement. The only mushrooms I can safely ID are puffballs. I'll check out your fungus vids. Are you able to find any edible mushrooms on your beautiful wooded lot?
There is a German metal detector guy (have subscribed to him) that posts vids of himself finding 1700 yeas old Roman coins in farm fields. He also is a fungophile.
Agent Fungus Yes, I love to hunt morel mushrooms. I've never hunted other varieties, just the morels. Haven't found any in my woodlot area though.
creatorwise : I'll be looking for dead elm trees this spring...
Thank you for watching and for your kind comment. Yes, those fledgings were so cute. There was a second one hidden in back. If you listen closely you can hear its little mewling whimper, begging for food.
What company makes this feeder !?!!? Love it.
Thanks for your kind comment! The raccoons eventually got to this feeder. But I have found some similar to it at Lowe's Hardware in the birdfeeding section.
I use a Sony Handycam with a 10X Optical zoom. Not the best out there but seems to work well for me. Sometimes I do wish the zoom was better though. What format do you upload your videos to You Tube in? I stick to MPEG 2 once finished editing and that has worked best for me. Depending on the format, it may be the reason you feel your losing clearity.. Your videos look fine to me :-)
I use Welch's Concord Grape Jam, but I have also used other grape jams and jellies and they seem to like them all equally well. Check out my other video using this same feeder: Baltimore Orioles Up Close and Personal. Thanks for watching, Jana.
What do have in the feeder with the Orioles & grosbeaks Is that jam or jelly?
What's going on, a grosbeak feeding an Oriole
Ha, you caught that at 5:00. Good eye. That was hilarious. The oriole just couldn't resist it.
I caught that, the rose grosbeak was sideways on the bar, grape jelly was spilling out of his beak, the oriole bird caught some of the jelly in mid air. lol
where is this?
