When I was in the Army and deployed to the Balkans in 2002 I was on your fan page and congratulated you guys on putting out some of the most brutal and awesome metal around. Chris took the time and wrote me back thanking me and even asked some questions. That was very cool of him and I appreciated it during that time and even today. Thanks, Chris!

Well now I have an email from Chris and a TH-cam reply from Rob. Now all I need is a high five from Matt DeVries, a thumbs up from Jim LaMarca and a restraining order from Mark Hunter and I'll have the whole 2002 lineup! LOL

Chris added so much personality to Chimairas body of work. Every aspect of this band stands out on its own, and for Chris to add those vital electronic parts really elevated the band, plus his live performance and backing vocals were nasty. I will be checking out the music he pointed out too, solid giving Spiritbox a shoutout. Great video as always Rob 🤘🏻

Chris was always the guy in Chimaira I identified and was drawn to most because of our shared interest in design and programming. Always wanted to do work with him. I can remember checking the Forefathers website for openings years ago when I was looking for jobs.

I love seeing these interviews with the other Chimaira members. When a band starts replacing or losing members is when I lose interest. The loss of Spicuzza was the last straw for me. The Age Of Hell just didn't feel right without him. It felt hollow and lacking. That was the last Chimaira album I bought and listened to. I felt Chris was underrated. I specifically remember being blown away by his backup vocals at CC9, especially during Resurrection.
Wish he could have met Morgoth during the recording of the Resurrection album. Chris's, I mean, Morgoth's contributions to Empire made it one of my favorite Chimaira songs ever.

Chris' contributions to Chimaira's sound was one of the aspects that really drew me in and made Chimaira especially unique among the other bands in the early 2000's and new wave of heavy metal.

Some time ago I made a comment asking for an interview with Chris since he is one of the main figures that started me in the world of samples since on each album there was a unique sound and atmosphere that gave Chimaira that particular touch... It's been a great interview and I hope they do with the footage that Chris has and with the audio mix that you have and some saved demo out there it would be interesting to listen to it ..... I hope you achieve the feat of bringing everyone together it would be epic

The DVD's showed us a brotherhood between you all. If anything good came out of the band breaking up is this. Hopefully down the road you guys can do more stuff rather its a show here or there or a song here and there. Either way Chimaira ruled and still rules!

We have the missing peace to the puzzle Rob. So nice to see that Chris is looking well and healthy. Really enjoyed this one Rob. So many wonderful stories about Chris's time in Chimaira and also some scary stories about the touring in Europe. I wonder if Chris would ever work with any of you again. With lets just say adding some of what he did when he was in Chimara or something else. Now that you have had all of the members on EYL. Maybe you could do one EYL with a fan. I have to say that out of the members of the band that have been on EYL. This is the best one. Rob many many thanks for doing this with Chris and maybe as you spoke about getting all of the band around a table. Then that also would be let's of fun to watch.

I hope to see a reunion of some sorts, and to get to open for you guys on a show or two. I can't tell you how influential as musicians and just a general blueprint to success you all have been for me and driving my band forward over the years. I've had to have watched the dehumanizing process over hundreds of times to stay motivated. The insight into one of my favorite bands is awesome! A few things: When you were talking about female singers I said out loud "Ginger!". I saw them in a hole in the wall club in Orlando, great show. It pains me knowing that a few of the other bands in your "graduating class" took off more than you. Props to them but in my opinion you all were the best of the bunch. None of them are in my daily playlist anymore. Loved this interview.

I realize as I got older that bumping heads and arguments on songs, is that each member wants the best intentions for that song or part. At the end of the day, you wanted what you thought was the best for the song. Then we have to move on and not have resentment. Life is challenging lol

I believe I’ve got a sample CD that Chris potentially used on the self-titled. Something called Ambient Realms by Sonic Foundry. There’s a sound on it called Venus Voices that can be heard at the very end of Lazarus. Hearing it when I was playing the CD was kind of surreal for me considering the influence Chris’s sounds have had on me since I was 17

  • @NintenDub

Chris was def integral to the sound.of you ever read this Chris, don't think your role was small just cuz you weren't doing legendary riffs or solos.its not like that. You def had vision.

I’ll be in a glass box of emotions for awhile. Thanks to Mark sharing his awesome energy through the crowd. I could see his smile and his love and appreciation to be in that moment. I know I was. Without needing to mention being this is what Chimairas music does. The bands sound fucking went through my soul. Appreciate you guys/gals sharing. Hands down best show ever! Did you guys catch Deftones when they first came out and opened for ...dang it hold...onnn either Black Sabbaths "last reunion tour" was headlining , and Deftones opened up for Pantera ? The crowd was mainly a bunch of Middle aged grams and grampas, kinda like the TIOR crowd this year.. I get Panteras show and Black Sabbaths "last" Reunion tour (again), they fade into one another. Long story short, Deftones was Boo'd on stage (not off) ON stage, they kept rockin, flipped the crowd off, I felt bad for them.
OK, I looked it up. to be exact....Black Sabbath / Pantera / The Deftones at The Nutter Center Dayton, Ohio 1999 (seemed like that year was the longest year in history. I'll blame it on el Nino or Y2K. I cant believe it was my 16th birthday present to myself. Thanks once again for the HEAVY reminders that we are getting OLD FAST. I have 40 more years if Im lucky, and I am... I feel like im frozen in time atm.

Yep! Andols and I saw Pantera/White Zombie/EyeHateGod/Deftones in 1996! It ruled! Saw Deftness a dozen or so times again over the next few years!🤘
But you're right... not many people seemed to care about them much at that Pantera show.

Maybe I missed it because I was going back and forth between my phone and TV but didn't Chris and Kevin have some problems for a while? I would have liked to hear a bit more about that.

No we didn't cover any of that. But I think he did talk about it some in the AudioVein interview we mentioned. There was just some personality friction. Really nothing more than that. But sometimes unfortunately, a little friction can lead to system failures.
