I am under mega plan G
Turned 65 in July of 2001
October of 2001 I went through a surgery .., this surgery had bad complications …. I needed a 2nd surgery -I stayed in the hospital 7 weeks … then to a rehab clinic for another 4 weeks!
I didn’t pay one cent for the surgeries or hospital stay neither for rehab clinic

" The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) wasted $143 billion on Medicaid overpayments during the last two years, and it hasn’t been transparent about its efforts to recover those funds. CMS reported $57.36 billion and $86.49 billion in Medicaid overpayments in the fiscal years 2019 and 2020, respectively. The improper payment rates of 14.9% and 21.36%, respectively, represent a substantial jump from prior years, and CMS is required by the Social Security Act to recover improper payments that exceed three percent. Great video in explaining medigap insurance. I was diagnosed with CLL in 2007 and never had to have treatment so far. Praise The Lord! When I signed up for a supplement they put me on plan N instead of plan G when they found out that I had this blood condition. My wife is on plan G. Doesn’t seem fair that I have those copays and my wife’s plan G doesn’t. Can you elaborate on this a little more? Thanks 😊

      @denali9449 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

Who was 'they' that put you on a Plan N? I know the pre-existing thing can be a difficult road but normally if you stick to the Medicare timeline and had coverage before you signed up, the pre-existing clause is waived. Speaking as someone who was receiving medical care for a kidney transplant for 15 years prior to signing up for Medicare. No questions asked, sign here and pay the premium. I got a Plan F back then and have stuck with it. I make be wrong but it sounds like you were misled.

He also teaches Martial Arts hence the name. I say all this because I told him when he reached a million followers to remember he could not have got there without having the first one. I think it is awesome the way you explain everything. You definitely have a new follower and I will be watching your videos. You nailed it when you said "Peace of Mind". Another word for “medical underwriting “ is “pre-existing conditions exclusion”. Plan N is cheaper by about $45/ month than plan G, however N has more Copays. If your health deteriorated later on, you might not be accepted by plan G providers ( unless your payer went out of the supplemental insurance business). Not sure the monthly saving of plan N is worth the gamble if your Heath worsens…I know it isn’t for me, and I worked with these insurances for 20 years as a certified Nurse Case Manager

Stephanie, my wife and I are both turning 65 in June and July. I retired from BISD12 years ago and I am on TRS. My wife is also a retiring from BISD in counseling in 2 weeks.
I'm not crazy about the TRS Medicare advantage plan. I would like to schedule an Appt with you to go over all our options. But plan N sounds good to me. How would I go about getting and appt with you so that we can both sign up at the same time? She already has her Medicare card. I'm waiting on mine. I had to piggyback on here Medicare through spousal privilege, since I didn't have the quarters. She is from July and I'm from June.

Hello, Stephanie, I was forced into early retirement due to a disability a few years ago and have had a Advantage plan ever since. I like my doctor and stayed with him though out thease years. But he's about Thirty miles away and anytime I need to see a specialist or even just get an Xray. I'm forced to go Thirty plus miles and deal with the preapproval nonsense. Luckily I've been able to stay well doing my physical therapy at home and have actually improved a little over the years. When I first sighed up I attempted to find a doctor closer to me but the of the doctor's in there welcome package. More than half said they didn't take my plan or were not taking anymore patients. Would I be able to get a plan G .I'll be 64 this January.?

Yeah, lots of people think that Congress and Senators have some really great health plan, and it is a good plan, but it is Obamacare which they cost share on. When Democrats were pushing Obamacare through, Republicans thought they would be clever and suggest that if it was "so good" all members of Congress should have to be on it. They figured Democrats would say no and they could use that against them. To their surprise (and maybe shock) they jumped on the idea! So Congress being on Obamacare is perhaps the only contribution to Obamacare from Republicans.

Since then, I’ve had to settle for a less effective drug, meaning I will get cancer eventually. The good drug costs $800/month Medicare Advantage with United Health Care (UHC) only covered HALF the cost. Living on Social Security, I can’t afford $400/month. It would be much less expensive if I got 90 days at a time ($229), but UHC refuses to allow the pharmacist to fill more than a 30-day supply. UHC sucks!

@@cherylmcnutt9905 Me three!! I retired last year at 69, and like "Barbara Ebner" above said, I can't believe how stressful navigating health care/insurance issues has been! How I miss my employer's group benefits involving only 2 decisions! What cruel irony that just when memory and other mild cognitive deficiencies start to show up, and my income is suddenly half what it used to be, I'm tasked with learning at least 6 different insurance Plan parts (A, B, D, Advantage, G, and now N); plus trying to calculate costs of all the options and combinations, and timings, and prescription prices at different pharmacies, and realizing the same health care will cost me three times what it did when I was employed.
With all the technology we have, why isn't there a computer program for entering your data and it having it calculate what all your best, and least expensive choices are during each open enrollment period?? There is some sort of program the local brokers use, but it still leaves me with too many options and not enough info. For example, I found out Medicare does not approve of one of my prescriptions; consequently, what my employer's insurance cost me $20 for a 90 day supply, will now cost me $600 for the same thing. This is the best Rx Plan D the program could find. Then a friend suggested asking at my pharmacy how much the prescription would be if I said I had no insurance. When I asked, the price for 90 days was suddenly only $249. The pharmacy also said since I wasn't restricted by any insurance company rules, I could buy the entire year's-worth the doctor had written for, all at one time, and the per tablet price would be even less. (Unfortunately I could only afford a half year's supply at one time.) Later on, it occurred to me to ask at a different pharmacy, and their price was only $183 for the 90 day supply, so then I was kicking myself for cognitive impairment issues! I also got a "Good Rx" discount coupon, but the best price was just using no insurance whatsoever, and asking at different pharmacies.
I wish you good luck and stamina for navigating the system, and thank you for your comment!

@@varonadee6980 Thanks, I wish the same for you! One thing I can tell you I learned the hard was all of the “Advantage Plans” rarely cover much of higher tiered drugs. Basically, the drugs you might need as a senior citizen are often Tier 3 or Tier 4 drugs and they offer no coverage at all, and tell you you have to use an older, less effective drug, which could endanger your life. It happened to me. At age 65 you can sign up for full Medicare. It’s always 80%/20%, but there’s no limit on treatment or drug types. That’s what I’m getting.

@@cherylmcnutt9905 Thank you for responding, Cheryl. Just to clarify, I am already on traditional Medicare Part B, with a Plan D for meds, and a supplemental Plan G. But Medicare doesn't "approve" of the tablets my M.D. prescribed, no matter if they're brand name or generic, and there is nothing else to substitute. I can go to the pharmacy and show my Medicare prescription Plan D card, and get to pay $600 out of pocket for a 90-day supply. The only thing Medicare covers is for the remaining three 90-day supplies in a year, I will only be charged $400 each. My Plan G pays nothing because it does not cover prescription meds. That's why I go to the pharmacy and get the tablets with no insurance, without ever mentioning Medicare. With NO insurance, I can pay $732 a year, but with Medicare I would pay $1800 a year.
On the plus side, Medicare only charges me $3.00 for a 90 day supply of Metformin!

You explained Medicare supplement and Plan G very well including the potential for relatively large yearly rate increases. I think you explained this in another video but if one decides to change plans, even with the same insurer, one still must go through medical underwriting. So choose wisely initially.
Another point that you might emphasize is that Medicare supplements do not cover what Medicare does not cover or what Medicare DENIES FOR LACK OF MEDICAL NECESSITY. This is an important point because if Medicare denies on medical necessity grounds the service or procedure provider can bill you not at the Medicare rate but at their full rate. For example, where Medicare might pay $5.00 for a lab test, the lab will bill you $200.00 which is the full list price for the test. This is based on your knowing or should know that the service or procedure is not covered. Be careful not to sign any waiver forms!

We retirees, were just notified, that our former employer, is not only stopping this plan, but is auto-enrolling us into a horrible Medicare disadvantage plan, within a few months.
(However we still have our Medicare part D drug plan, still provided by our former employer).
I just turned 70, and pretty much fairly ok health wise.
I absolutely want to stay in original Medicare, but now need a medigap plan, such as plan G, that seems to parallel my old Blue Cross Medicare related coverage plan.
    I live in New Jersey.
What would I expect I'd need to do, in order to keep my original Medicare, while trying to obtain perhaps a G plan?
Would I have to go through an agent?
(I hear many are corrupt and would rather enroll people into Medicare advantage plans without telling them, and take the commission, rather than enroll the customer into an original medigap plan).
Where do I start, and how do I proceed with this process?
    Thank you so much.

to retire at my full retirement age of 66 and 4 months. Will I not qualify for Medicare Part G since I did not enroll in Medicare Part B in time?
