I got 2 theories about this game: both revolve around Sephiroth. The first one is that the sephiroth we see in the game is actually the same one from advent children. After his failure in that timeline he decides to use whatever power and connection to the life stream he has left and transports his consciousness back in time to change things. He’s met with resistance from the arbiters of fate and uses cloud and co. to eliminate them.
Theory 2 is that this sephiroth is from this timeline but decides to look into the future. He doesn’t like what he sees and decides to change the future but is met with resistance etc. etc. I could be dead wrong but I hope I’m not!
I think theory 1 is what's happening because sephiroth's one winged angel form never actually appeared in the OG ff7, that form was created for the advent children movie which means advent children sephiroth went back in time. Also the 3 whisper boss have similar weapons to the three antagonist from advent children.
We might find out next month!
So I’m just going to go off a hunch here and say that Harbringer is actually a Weapon.

This is giving me vibes of matrix the path of neo.... the final boss that came out of nowhere since they wanted to make a big boss for the end.
This some Kingdom Hearts type stuff they did to FF7 and its one of the coolest things they did.
You're one of the few people that I atcually likes this concept, everybody else is shitting on Nomura for incorporating kingdom hearts stuff
Devil_Slayer Productions I don’t mind it...it just doesn’t fit with the story of FF7 in my opinion. I’m still happy for the future of series but I’ll say this one did grew on me.

I won’t lie: I think the Arbiters would’ve worked much better if they didn’t revive any dead teammates. That’s what a Phoenix Down is for. xD
yeah this was pretty meta fighting against the main timeline everything is up in the air after this battle we can't go off the main timeline

@@Devil_Slayer a lot of fans are also ok with it splitting off a little so long as it is faithful. Actually according to polls the majority of fans who've played the original prefer the route they are taking with this remake. Its a pretty big gap in the polls too with changing the story (but being faithful) winning by a large margin. Me personally I'd like them to keep most of the plot points the same while reaching the certain events differently while fleshing out charecters more and even adding different plot points. Kinda exactly like what this first game did.
What if this was just bait luring people into hoping that Aerith's (and others) death can be prevented after defeating the 'Arbiters of Fate', but she ends up dying anyway just like the 1st game?
As some proof to that, the Whispers, still wind up killing Wedge(shattering glass sound implying they yeeted him out of the window of the Shinra building)

I got a weird theory bout this.(if this IS an alternate timeline form the OG 7) This cloud went on to be the one in the KH universe.

Very late comment here but on the off chance others see it here is something to know. If you have a Assess materia and use it the description reads as follows for the Whisper bosses you face. "An entity from a future timeline that has manifested in the present day."

@@MentalOutlvl6 No it isnt though. Its a fate thing to troll the player. Dimensions lol. Its FF7 about mythology and stuff, the idea is you alreadyy know the plot of FF7 but fate thing is there to make sure you dont stray off the story. Its at best just trolling the player in a sense
this fight is stupid and its pissing me off, i beat these 3 like 5 times then they turn into a dragon i beat that to then they split into 3 again then i die and instead of starting with the final 3 i have to do the entire fight over!!!??? wtf and when i finally beat them i fight sethiroth i lose i turned off the ps4 assuming it saved at sethiroth but no i have to start this fight from the beginning like WTF???!!!!!!!!
