I was the very same way when I first saw this cover, I was literally blown away, the showcasing of each musician was phenomenal and epic. I love Helloween but these girls made them look and sound like amateurs IMO. There is no end to their talent all five girls are great admirers to many great bands of yesteryear, Miho has a butt load of many bands and loves to collect them all. Miyako is the main song composer and Asami does most of the lyrics but they all contribute. Both Miyako and Midori are pianist first and guitar second and both picked up the guitar in the late teens and early twenties. I generally don't like covers. But every now and then, a band comes along that does a cover that blows my mind. This is one of those occasions. This was absolutely flawless. Michael Kiske is one of my favorites singers and Asami totally nailed it. As for their originals, a song I recommend is The Crusade (live). This is the first song I heard by Lovebites and what started my addiction to this band. It has an Iron Maiden feel to it.
And that is why they are the best band on this globe. At this rate I would not be surprised if they reach legendary status and become one of the best bands in existence. If only the North American and European radio stations, media, charts and so on would play them and a bunch of other Japanese bands instead of focusing on ridiculous music and commercialized bands from NA, UK and luckily some from Scandinavia and Central Europe, but there are way better bands not just in Japan but Eastern Europe, South America and Asia in general. Ok ... English might be a factor, but you can hardly understand at least a quarter of English speaking performers and bands anyways.
Hi, loved your reaction. I discovered Lovebites in Decmber 2017 and thought they were fantastic back then and they have only gotten better and better, especially live. The are all insanely talented musicians who love to play their brand of metal for the love of the music and do not need any gimmicks. BTW, Miho the bassist has a very large collection 200+ or more of metal bands' t-shirts and is rarely seen not wearing one. Don't forget NEOMOPHILA. React to Raitei, Oiran or Sorai or better all three. You will not be disappointed.

It is a while sine I heard the original so have re-listened to it a few times. The only thing i would change in the Lovebites cover, is to remove the strings. Not saying it is bad having the strings, but for me they are not really required. You still have music videos to explore. Some of Lovebites music videos have a short promotional break in them, which can be confusing for some first time viewers.

That´s remind me another incredible cover. I´m pretty sure you hear of a "band" from the 60th called "The Carpenters", a really melodic and "sweet" band formed by the brothers Karen and Richard Carpenter. Really miles away from the rock and heavy, but a rock/punk from Japan called "Shonen Knife", one of the oldest bands in Japan now (the guitar and vocal Naoko is now about 60 years old and still rocks) made a cover of their song "Top of the World". Helloween are a good band, but this is just another level. I never liked Kiske's voice, so it's not a fair comparison, but all of them just smash this.
To be honest, I'm not a huge fan of the constant vibrato in the vocals on almost every note. Vibrato is much more effective when it's used more sparingly and not right from the beginning of a note. I prefer Michael Kiske's vocals.
Heavy vibrato is quite common with Japanese vocals, it's not something unique to Lovebites. People not used to hearing Japanese music sometimes find it offsetting at first, but eventually you don't notice. It's also something Bruce Dickinson employed often, and Iron Maiden are a big influence on Lovebites.
