I met this amazing man in Sydney a couple of weeks ago. I had my guitar by my side. 3am on a foggy morning I just looked into his eyes and shook his hand. With the seconds that followed he took up a pen and left his mark on my 6-stringed instrument. And with one last breath I let out a thank you. This mans name was Mike Rosenberg.
I lost my husband in May of 2017. This brings back sweet memories and gives me hope of finding hapiness again. I would listen to Mr. Passenger sing the telephone directory.
Man this song really captures the bittersweet joy of a long distance relationship. How when you miss someone everything reminds you of them. Hanging up from a video-call with the person you love and knowing with the time difference it'll be a week before the next one, 6 months before they're in your arms once more. But by some miracle you get to be in love with your best friend, and somehow they love you too.

His poetic lyrics, his strumming on his guitar strings, his rhythm, his eternal pauses in between sounds, his faraway gazes when he lifts his head up from time to time….. here am I touched. Overcome with the quiet stirring in my soul….. my eyes are wet with emotions which envelope me softly like a sheet of silk. My wife became very poorly, mostly mentally. Be it peri menopause, bipolar, or whatever she was diagnosed with at that time, we had an extremely rough ride. I had always loved her implicitly, been faithful, and gave her everything I had. This moment tested us, she became someone I didn't know and I had to stay at my parents house for a few days. I didn't know what would happen, I was so hurt and confused, then I heard this song.....
I remembered why I loved her, removed my feelings in that moment and went home. Cared for her unconditionally 24/7 until she was better..... years later we are still together and I love her more than ever, my very best friend.
