Great vid as always Chris. Just a minor correction though in case any beginners get confused - when you increase the voices of TAL from one to six, its changing it from monophonic to polyphonic, rather than mono to stereo. Probably a misspoken point in the midst of flow 👍

Hey Chris another banger. The ease with which you made the TAL Noisemaker patch was amazing. When you make a part 2, I have some free plugin suggestions that are worth a try.
    - Odin II synth by TheWaveWarden. 11 oscillator types to select from, 3 filters, effects rack, huge mod matrix and an arpeggiator. It's my go to synth after Vital these days.
HY-Plugins has free versions of their Pro plugins
    - HY-Poly free (synth)
    - HY-SEQ32 free (sequencer, generates midi file)
    - HY-ESG Euclidean sequencer (free collab plugin with Bedroom Producers Blog)
MidiMonitor is a free plugin useful for recording the notes/pattern generated by Stochas. My free DAW doesn't provide midi note extraction from plugins.

Thank you so much Chris! I have been eagerly waiting for this video for some time now and just opened up ableton to tag along. I'm sure this will make a lot of people's introduction to ambient music production even smoother than you have already made it for many of us. You are the GOAT!

  • @romanq8927
    @romanq8927 ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yes, to create music, beautiful music, you do not need to have super magical plugins or a professional studio. After all, everything beautiful is already in us. You just need to be able to pull it out of yourself and tell it with the words of music, and You successfully did it and proved it! All ingenious is simple! But we often don't notice it. Thank you for your hard work and for sharing your experience and knowledge with us. All the best to you and new inspirations!!!

This was a great watch (again!) :D! I've been out of sound stuff for a while, but it's nice to see that Valhalla still does their free classics, Vital keeps improving, TAL still releasing their free "experiments" and the other ones I had never heard about before! Thanks for sharing! Really neat that you made a thing showing your general workflow. Love the vibes as usual! :)

Just a small suggestion - maybe your camera overlay could sit in the bottom right corner where not much clicking happens? The first Vital part was a bit obscured.

    Thanks so much.
You know, I love free tools. I'm a big fan of Vital. I have TAL NoiseMaker and SurgeXT installed and ready to be used but, and that's really unfortunate, I don't use them as often as I should. It's hard for me to figure out what will be the final result with NoiseMaker for example.
And these Audiomodern tools. I didn't know that they exist. I downloaded them when I saw what we can do with them (there is not only Panflow but also Gatelab and Filterstep) so many thanks to put these tools to the light.

lol! I was looking at Stochas while this was going and you pulled it out XD
Now do this with a free DAW :D :P
Vital is such a treasure to us all, I bought the Pro version and then subbed after that. It's so amazing that it's free in the first place, I just wanted to support it ongoing.
    Thanks for sharing!
Bitwig's Arpeggiator is one of my favorite "free" plugins - it's a GREAT step sequencer that you can easily modulate all the things. And then Bitwig has a step-sequencer modulator lol. Xzibit approved. "Yo dawg, I heard you liked step sequencers. So I got you a step sequencer for your step sequencer so you can step sequence while you step sequence."

(noob Q) Can anyone shed some light on how to capture/record the Stochas output to a midi track? Thanks again. Edit: Figured it out, I was trying to record the Stochas channel, recording the Surge XT track gave my the notes. weeeeeeeee!
