According to a Daigo fan blog, he's gone back to Yun. Somehow I have a feeling it won't be for long. I really hope he settles on Akuma after it's all said and done. I REALLY enjoy watching how he's developed his Akuma play.
You should tell him that. I don't think there are many comments praising his skills like that. And the kid is good. He could use the encouragement. Who knows, maybe he'll become the next SF youtube sensation
@123eldest because of daigo frame traps.. Plus another factor is daigo was hitting tick and kara throws. It's kinda risky to guess and get frame trapped and get hit with a combo.
When was this recorded? If it is recent, then that makes me think Umehara is really considering playing Gouki instead of Ryu, considering the amount of matches he's playing with Akuma, I haven't seen his Ryu at all.

The only way to jump in effectively would be to move a little bit foward , and unfortunately that is where the dangerous "Footsie" game starts.
I wish Daigo would keep maing Ryu, Momochi back to Akuma. And I wish to see a FT10 between Daigo's Ryu and Sekiganryu's Ryu, and Michael Tan's Ken. The original Street Fighter is such a classic.
Daigo is crazy He had a 8 win streak on a ryu player with 5000+ PP. He didnt use many of the Akuma setplays and Akuma is not his main! His playstyle is totally different from Tokido, both are very entertaining
Am I the only one to find that Umehara plays his Akuma very much as he plays his Ryu ? I find that he relies a lot on his cr.MK zoning and not much on vortexes/combos for which most Gouki players like, say, Tokido or Infiltration are known for. He also doesn't make much use of Demon Flip variants.
I think he's just having fun and maybe testing the water for a sub. I wouldn't be too surprise if we suddenly got a match of him using Yun. But I don't think Ryu is going to take the backseat this time around, I hope we get a few endless uploads of him using Guile again...I know most can't stand his zoning but I do.
He isn't p-linking, he is using an option select. If his opponent tries to throw he will tech it. If his opponent does nothing then medium punch will come out.
are you saying that akuma isn't a top tier character? if not then my statement stands. Also, if infiltration has the character loyalty that you're claiming he does, then he wouldn't be counter picking at a moment's notice whenever he runs into a bad matchup.
why didnt he swap chars against daigo in evo 2012? During the LG tournament he used Gouken to counter ryu, which is a better matchup than using ryu. I should know i main both akuma and gouken. In evo 2012 he could have used gouken to easily counter ryu, but he didnt he used akuma. Tiers exist but most of those players got their because of skill.
Did anyone notice that daigo did ever use his ultra when he fights with akuma or when he does it aint successful. unlike ryu with his ultra and yuns super where he uses it where he can, he just beat them with akuma without any ultras of specials. fair play
I think Daigos style with Akuma is way too passive to getting success...he must turn back to main Ryu. He has by far the best one and have the most respect worldwide because Ryu isnt top tier

Hell evo 2012 was the first evo were every single player played a unique char. That just proves that they didnt win because they tier whored but that they are good players. dude this video is almost a year old... before Daigo's Ryu ever faced Infiltration's Akuma.

Daigo using Akuma's abilities to fit his own playing style, rather than utilizing Akuma's capabilities for an Akumaesque style of play.
