This is the first LoZ speedrun I’ve ever watched, I had heard Oot was a particularly impressive one and stumbled upon this. This is hilarious, I have no idea what’s happening and that’s the best part!
I love the thumbnail for this; it's like Zelda just finished rolling her eyes at Link's latest attempt at completing his journey as fast as possible. Or she's cringing at how holding "nothing" completes the game.
Ganon: "What? What happened? How did I die? Where am I and how did I get here?" Young Link: "..." Zelda: "Congratulations Link! Because of your brave efforts, Ganon is now sealed away for good!"
Love the fact that more than half of the video is just the credits rolling like nothing happened (quite nostalgic). Excellent run, congrats!. Can already see you outdoing it soon enough 🙌🏻
Yes, all the SRM, ACE, heap manips, etc. are all performed flawlessly... but your movement man. The side hops and just general precision on controller inputs was insanely impressive. This is remarkable!
i know it needs new strats to be possible, but i feel like 3:3x is definitely happening sooner or later… i mean this could have been 343 just not losing time to crawlspace. Insane run as always count 🏆
Watching OoT speedruns since 2010, it's been crazy to see the progression of strategies. Can you believe the route used to go all the way to the fire temple entrance to do RBA? It's also interesting that people used to go through a lot of effort to skip mido but now getting sword and shield has been a staple of runs for a long time. The deku tree wrong warp really felt like the OoT any% endgame, but now the route doesn't even leave the starting zone.
half a second on the sword textbox 😩 holy cow that rng lol. You maybe could've even skipped the bridge blue rupee at that rate! Just needed 2 more from the other grasses. GG
Thank you, yeah clearly the biggest mistake lol. I actually got 10 rupees total here which is only 1 shy of having an extra 5, but sadly even if you get the extra 5 you can’t skip bridge blue since it’s a permanent rupee required for the heap setup. Same goes for most of the other blues aside from the stepping stone ones. It would actually allow you to skip the shop blue though since that one doesn’t affect kokiri forest, which would save about 2.5s, so it’s pretty crazy I was close to getting that timesave on such a great pace.
@@CountLGoooh, thanks for explaining. Makes sense. Yeah I was even wondering about getting 3 more from the grass and skipping the blue behind mido + the grass patch next to there. But I guess shop rupee is the biggest candidate for skipping, when someone gets really stupid rng
@@GlobalWarmingSkeptic I need a video explaining this. I just looked up the OOT spreedrun out of curiosity and I get this monstrosity. Last I saw, you still had to open the deku tree boss door at JUST the right frame to trigger the end scene, this whole thing was something else.
Thanks! It's hard to say how fast a tas would be without making one, but tas movement + rng manip would save a good chunk. I would guess in the ballpark of 20-30s faster, but not sure. Homerfunky's any% tas gives a good idea on the level of optimization you could expect from an up-to-date tas even though it's an older route.
Is there somewhere I can find an explanation to all glitches here to practice the speedrun myself? Also does 1.0, 1.1 and 1.2 make a difference here for the japanese release?
Hey there! The best place to go for learning is definitely the OoT speedrunning discord. We have tutorials for the route pinned in the #any-percent channel, and you can ask questions about specific tricks and various routes there as well. And yeah the version and platform used do make a difference, but luckily most versions have a fast route very similar to this one.
Kinda depends on RNG. Theoretically you can save an extra 2s if you get enough to skip the shop blue, so with that + good execution, around a 3:41 or 3:42 becomes possible. But that would be essentially a miracle if it happened, so I'm not expecting to push that low.
@@marcapouli7805 this person has beaten the game hundreds of times now normally, at that point it doesn't hurt the experience of the game so much as it increases the replay value
idk if this is bait or not but around a year or two ago the OOT community allowed skipping the intro cutscene with a save in link's house, also removing the intro from timing
some of these OOT glitches are so insane, its hard to imagine how people ever found out
yeah right! amazing 😊
They run into Things and Look at Cool Numbers and Letters

Placed "Nothing".
Warped to the ending.

What in the holy shit was that. That dude making invisible doors in the forest.
Gannon: "At last, I have conjured up the perfect plan. The world is doomed!"

I think so too, be it from new strats or a faster route down the line, even if I'm not the one to take it there.
arbitrary code execution is insane.
いったい何が起こったんだ……
始まったと思ったら終わっていたぞ……
Oh, so the credits are there to show Young Link what happened since it never happened. 😂

This category can will become nearly a TAS
So insane count, congrats !
I wonder what is happening in the code to trigger this.
me too^^
The funny part of it is it isn't the developer's code. The glitches let you write code for the game to execute. That's what everything was setting up.

yay!! Congrats again!!
3:40 idkw but something about seeing Link walk off screen after doing a while bunch of screaming and backflips is fucking hilarious
this was pretty amazing
Great work!
Holy shit
lore accurate btw
Congratulations:)
any% has just become the CountLG route, at this point.
again?? youre a menace💀 good run bro
How the hell.. that was impressive but I am so confused lol
those rupees 😩
gg count

Will you do Wii U runs?
Is this a ZFG alt?
wow

glitchrun 2%
No offense to the runner but I think once games are this optimized there's no fun in the run. Interesting, nonetheless.
