  • We figure out why I’m having header leaks on both sides. JBA Shorty headers are installed on this 2017 RAM 1500. You’ll be surprised...

    Another reason why im glad i ended up selling my jbas and ended up just swapping stock bolts on the manifolds to some m8 bolts... no leaks and no bs. Hopefully JBA makes it right for all the guys having issues.

      The leaks? Nah not really, but also not good

    FYI if you were lucky enough to buy them through Amazon, they'll take them back during the warranty period (1 year for BBK) where BBK wouldn't do crap but "fix them", no refund no matter what. If thru Amazon call them and tell them they failed, they gave me full refund and told me to keep the headers and I was just under the 1 year "warranty".

    BBK shorties are no better, mine cracked at the welds and collectors within 1,000 miles, total garbage coming out these companies theses days!

    I got Doug Thorley Tri-Y catless headers on my 16 ram. They're 1 3/4 longtube headers but they are catless. They were like $1,000 after shipping. They're 14 gauge, I believe jba are 16 gauge headers so they're a little thicker than the jba. What about ARH longtubes with hi-flow cats? They're only like $1,900!!! Haha

    That sucks with the headers. If you could open the ports on the manifolds, would be great. You could see where they are smaller than the head ports.
    Yeah, love my tailgate assist. That was the first thing I did to my '17.

    Just got some jba shorties put on..now when driving my truck and I get close to a wall I get the noise bounce off. I swear it dosent sound right..almost like a leak from around the headers area

    • @TunedRAMS
      @TunedRAMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe G yeah Joe, they’re most likely leaking. I always loved the tiny sound headers made, but leaks aren’t fun and not worth the constant swapping out. The manifold exhaust opening is actually bigger than the shorties anyway, they’re better

    • @joeg4010
      @joeg4010 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      So if I end up leaving them on. Is there any real issues that could come from it besides the noise?

    • @TunedRAMS
      @TunedRAMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe G just the noise really, I mean eventually the leaks will get worse, but that would take years

    • @joeg4010
      @joeg4010 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool..and I did get them ceramic coated so that should help..appreciate the help, Have a good one!

    That’s good to know !!! I’m running the same headers on my truck and I believe it also has a leak could be the gaskets or what just happened to you and yes I agree ARH should make shorty headers and I’m sure they haven’t made them because of the executive order CARB😡. Great video bro keep them rolling in !!!!!!!!!!!

    Couldn't you just weld a bead on the outside where the header/flange meet.? That would reseal it.

    • @TunedRAMS
      @TunedRAMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Paul Popp it would, if you get all the leaks, it’s tight around the runners at the flange, then you void warranty. I had them off so I threw the manifolds back on. The manifolds have a larger exhaust outlet than the shorties

  • @davidtalisman4422
    @davidtalisman4422 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would totally take those leaking shortys 💪

    • @TunedRAMS
      @TunedRAMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      David Talisman we were going to weld them and fix them but then the warranty gets all messed up and trying to sell them touched up would be tough, they’re Silver coated

    So what is the best brand to get for a 5.7? How are the gaskets that come with it?

    • @TunedRAMS
      @TunedRAMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe G the best headers imo are the ARH long tubes, always use oem 6.1 gaskets

    • @joeg4010
      @joeg4010 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And As far as short headers go?

    • @TunedRAMS
      @TunedRAMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe G I’ll never buy Shortys again, manifolds are better IMO. I’ve always had leaks. Long tubes are way better

    • @TunedRAMS
      @TunedRAMS  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Joe G JBA are the best for the 5.7, that’s if you can get a set that doesn’t leak

    • @jamesborek8125
      @jamesborek8125 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TunedRAMS Do the ARH long tubes require a tune? I just bought an '03 2500 and it's got a bit of a manifold tick in the mornings. I wouldn't mind spending the money if it fixes the leaks permanently and adds some power/torque.. appreciate the videos
