We for sure need a naruto remaster/re-release without all the filler and all the recaps and all the FLASHBACKS. I rewatched naruto recently and when you skip all this, episodes run from 20 minutes to like, 8 minutes
Or One Piece. Fuck the redrosa saga, i stop watching before the gear 4 apear but my God! The couldn't made the anime slower, a filler arc would be nice even if it was just to make time. At least it woul be SOMETHING other than a 5 minutes of an episode for weak.
I'd argue that watching Naruto fighting an ostrich during the Pain Arc only adds to the overall theme of that arc, meaning, the pain. Its clearly the superior version
Honestly i liked the filler, it was a good rest to see more of the rest of the cast working together. At least there Rock Lee got a bit of respect showing him fighting not only with taijutsu but also using his weithed steel together to make a broom to fight. I think that happend in one of the movies but it was a great scene.
some filler was good, and I'd say even added to the cannon (like the hunt for the beatle, the guren arc, and some of the added fights in the war arc); but some were just utter garbage.
@@slkjvlkfsvnlsdfhgdght5447the fillers I hate the most are Naruto and gang fighting some fodder ass bandits for 20 episodes. I love the ones that add to character’s backstory, or expand on stuff and sometimes good filler fight arcs
One thing that has always killed me to this day is the Final Fight. There's one panel in the Manga they left out in the anime and it holds ALOT of meaning. When Sasuke says to Naruto he has no family, there's a panel in the Manga of Jiraiya's grave Naruto made for him. That would have meant SO MUCH to put in that fight. I still can't believe they left it out.
That was legitimately one of the few things I actually really liked about the part post Kaguya introduction, I actually felt strongly about this panel. Sad to learn that it wasn't even included in the anime
@RT-zn9bj probably similar to how Shikamaru lights up one in memoriam for Asuma and it just doesn't happen in the anime because Shikamaru is too young to be depicted with a cig in his mouth. If you haven't seen it in the original; you won't necessarily think anything is missing.
@RT-zn9bj that's the thing it doesn't really add much except they want people to feel sad for naruto or jiraiya which we don't cuz naruto has plenty of friends literally sasuke has no family but at least naruto got to see his dad and mom
We need a "Naruto Kai" like DBZ got. No filler, no recaps, better animation, more streamlined, etc. If they did that it could be the best way to enjoy naruto.
Naruto kai already exists as a fan project that cuts all the filler episodes and scenes, and bundles episodes by manga volumes, so you have 72 movie-length episodes with 0 filler.

To clarify: I never was able to go beyond the "Tsunade retrieval" arc. I restarted the anime multiple times and got bored around that arc... for more than 10 years (2008-2020)
RIGHT THE WAR ARC WAS SO DIFFICULT TO WATCH!!! 😭 The first 300 eps were fine skipped some filler (who hasn’t tbh ). After the madara vs 5 Kage fight, the war arc was so boring. Kishimoto just pulled shit out of his ass to continue the series.
Minor point but the anime studio also seemed to go out of their way to make Sakura weaker and unlikeable, (on top of Kishimoto often faltering with her character). There's quite some difference in her actions and character in the manga and light novels to the anime. They even did that in one of the last arcs of Boruto. By excluding, changing or adding new things
Sounds like as if as she's a different person. I never knew there was such hatred on her character. I only found out this year when I decided to revisit the series.
Watching Naruto weekly was the biggest pain of all time as not only you gotta deal with fillers but you have no way of knowing when the actual canon story will start. I waited years for it to finish just to skip all the fillers.
Yeah that would be awesome. Trim a lot of the fat, refresh the animation to modern times while keeping that old charm. I would gladly waste my money for that😅
My biggest issue for the anime is honesty how they treat sasuke leaving the village in part 1. In the manga, sasuke leaves with the sound four essentially straight after his run in with Itachi and his fight with Naruto at the hospital. This setting is much more fitting for sasuke to run because he realized he wasn’t making any progress on catching itachi and Naruto was caught up with him so something needed to change. IN THE ANIME THO, Sasuke comes back from seeing Itachi and just is kinda fine. They then had a filler arc with that electric sword dude where Naruto saves the day WHICH MAKES SASUKE SALTY AND LEAVE THE VILLAGE because Naruto had the final blow My favorite character in all of anime is Sasuke but the anime really does make him way more of a jealous kid instead of the avenger of the Uchiha that the manga better portrays him as
They completely botched that whole sequence. There's also that Kakashi mask episode which, while funny in isolation, completely ruins the tone because the show is about to become much darker. Not to mention, Sasuke is supposed to be in a coma. In addition to the stuff you mention about poorly portraying his motive for leaving.
Nah how they treated him leaving the village in part 1 is fine really. Nah it's just as fitting in the anime really and he realized that same thing too. Which yeah makes sense, give it some time for it to really set in for him. No it wasn't because of that, it was because of Itachi. No in the anime he still seems like a avenger of the Uchchiha and the manga doesn't better portray him as that.
A lot of people hated the fourth ninja war, and I really didn't get why. Then I realized the anime has an absurd amount of filler that 100% killed the pace of an arc that's huge moment after huge moment. I read the whole arc in the manga when it was almost over and, tbh, I really liked it.
Yeah, I remember when everyone were hyped about Tobi's identity and making theories about it, Madara memes and Obito vs Kakashi. That shit was hype back in school. Naruto has a lot of writing problems but Kishimoto was hardly mediocre with it.
The thing with the Naruto anime is that there are some moments of brilliance that far outweigh the manga. Both fights between Naruto and Sasuke, Kakashi vs Obito, Rock Lee vs Gaara and so many other fights were handled so perfectly that even if you prefer the manga overall, you would still be missing out by not watching the anime
@@25meippeople are mostly in love with the choreography of which Naruto anime are the kings of "hands" in all of anime. I think the anime has the W to the manga,
I really believe that the Kaguya/Black Zetsu arc were meant for Boruto. Madara was built up since the OG Naruto as the main antagonist. And given the fact that the whole Otsutsuki clan is explored in Boruto gives even more credence to the fact. Now why would Kishimoto add (shove) Kaguya into Naruto? Simple, Naruto was still in peak popularity and corporate strong armed him to extend the series further. Again, its just something I still strongly believe til this day.
I agree with you but end of the day the rule in manga is that whatever the original author says happens is the gospel truth even when it makes no logical sense.
ur delusional then. black zetsu appeared end of part 1 after watching naruto and sasuke fight. so kaguya/black zetsu arc was planned since from the beginning :)
We need 26 episode seasons. For pretty much every show. Fewer pointless cliffhangers, but more room for expanded character moments. Pacing would be so much better
For example, Attack on Titan. Every minute was important and meaningful. Although Naruto is like Doraemon to me. I love Shin chan, Doraemon and Naruto thorough and thorough
I remember back in the old days, during early Shippuden, having to wait a week for an episode full of flashbacks, redundance, and very little plot happening overall. That's when I decided to read the manga instead.
omg i just remembered this struggle lmao. around when kaguya was introduced i think there was a whole normal season length of filler of the individual tsukiyomis of the side characters. dropped it completely around that time.
This is why I stopped watching lol. I remember the scene where Kakashi uses his mangekyo for the first time being extraordinarily drawn out. If left enough of an impression that I remember it distinctly many years later.
Dragon ball z takes the cake. I shit you not, there are episodes in which the fight only somewhat starts after the first 12 minutes before characters go back to staring at each other and saying stuff like "you have so much power, huh? But I haven't even started!"
@@buryingbrightnessidk I rewatched DBZ a few weeks ago and while it does have those issues it’s not as bad as people say it is. There was only one instance where they did a recap for 12 min and that was during frieza
The only good filler episode of Naruto is the one when Naruto, Sakura and Sasuke tries to see what is behind Kakashi's mask. It's like the "learning to drive episode of DragonBall Z" of Naruto, just a fucking classic.
I hope one day they will do anime reboot with 200~ eps in total like you said. It would be so amazing and even more fans from the future would experience it and in a much better way.
There are two filler segments in Naruto that i like. One is the one with the crystal kekkei genkai lady and the other is the stuff that shows how the infinite tsukuyomi looks like, from the perspective of one's that are trapped. Even though the latter one is pretty long, and does kill the pacing in a mayor way, it's just interesting to me. I hate pretty much all "oh no, fillergakure is in danger, we need to help them" filler arcs.
I like the kakashi arc. There are also some nice flashback fillers that build on characters, like there’s a few Obito flashback episodes in the war. He’s my favourite character so some of them were quite nice. But not every flashback is unique so some are repeated a LOT
@@MagmaSpacer I liked the Utakata arc as well and the young mentee of Utakata's is underrated as far as how mentally strong she is to choose to endure what she did (without giving spoilers). Naruto has a LOT of characters and seeing some of them get an episode, filler or not is something I can't hate on rather it's bad or good. I do wish the filler gets sorted differently as to not drag the momentum away from the main plot. I really don't get why anime use extended fillers the way they do.
@@Layla109 I feel like there could be an ultimate guide for Naruto if you actually want to watch some of the good fillers that give characters more spotlight
I will say, my favorite episode of the whole show is mostly anime original content. The way episode 82 of shippuden expands on shikamaru’s response to asuma’s death in chapter 330 is fantastic, and his conversation with his dad is to this day one of the my favorite moments in anime history, and I’m glad you brought it up But one golden exception doesn’t disprove a rule.
I was introduced to Naruto via the anime with the Rock Lee vs Gaara fight. I have LONG since switched to the manga, and although it took many years, I have been able to collect the entirety of the Naruto manga and it is something I am so proud of.
I remember when I was first introduced to anime around 20 or so years ago, I showed the Rock Lee vs Gaara episode to a friend that has absolutely nothing to do with anime. He kept talking about it for years saying it was one of the coolest, most memorable scenes of any show he has ever seen lol
Heh, same thing here, I was already a big manga/anime fan but so far I had skipped on Naruto (you can't read/watch _everything_ right?), and one day on TV the new Naruto episode comes out and I happened to be watching, and those 2 dudes are about to fight, and DAMN I was glued to my seat the whole episode, and after that I asked my fellow manga collector friend to lend me his Nauto collection so I could binge it, which I did in about a week maybe (at the time the manga was right before the "War Arc", we didn't know who Tobi was, etc etc). All of this because they were airing the Rock Lee vs Gaara fight when I happened to be watching TV, which I almost never did (why watch TV when you have internet?) and that fight had everything.... You immediately got hooked because the 2 opponents have such contrasting designs & fighting styles, you immediately learn everything about who that Rock Lee guy is from the flashbacks, and you guess the Gaara dude is bad news from his siblings reactions and his overall look... The techniques are cool, they aren't flying around throwing Bijuu bombs are each others while using Susanoo, the fate of the world isn't on the balance, but the stakes still feel very high.... Naruto might not have ended up in my top 5 favorite mangas of all time, it might not even break the top 10, but I'm still very happy to have read it, and to have been able to live through the war arc in real time It was a pain in the ass since some parts are really dragging, but it was still fun to see the insane twists alongside the rest of the fandom; there were soooo many burnt-out fans who were "done" with Naruto and just read the latest chapter "out of habit and because after all these years might as well read the ending" and were just so bitter about everything, it was kinda funny ^^ Madara vs Might Guy was the one moment in the war arc that had everyone shutting up for a while and appreciate a fight instead of complaining ^^
@@inkoctopui3787 manga? the most upsetting thing in the anime naruto for me is how the whole sakura's aggressive attitude like smacking or kicking naruto is most of the time are filler scenes. her character's development is actually much better in the manga. kishimoto has always wanted to make sasuke and sakura a couple and in manga it has so much scenes because you can see his soft little smiles when he's proud of her and overall his affection to her & his team
she actually was never supposed to end sasuke to begin with kishimoto wanted her end with Naruto not hinata hinata barely exists in the manga the only reason she ended with Naruto because she was popular character because of fillers
crazy how the nazi's took the symbol for good-fortune and flipped it, and then proceeded to take L after L in ww2. Maybe dont reverse/mess with an ancient symbol of goodluck lmao.
I was rereading it earlier this year for the first time on forever and there's subtle stuff like how sand coffin looks like a bunch of hands pulling on you which was really cool! But you're right about the pace, i was surprised at how quickly you get into the land of waves and then the chuunin exams!
4:35 For the most part Naruto fillers don't advance the story and the characters but there are some exceptions: episodes 148-151 (Hinata focused, has a lot of interaction between her and Naruto), episodes 169-173 (gives focus to Anko's past with Orochimaru), episodes 216-220 (gives focus to Gaara). In Shippuden, some of the Asuma focused episodes from the Twelve Guardian Ninja Arc and Kakashi's Anbu Arc (349 to 361).
You made some good points mate In some of the canon-filler mix stuff where you were like "Do you remember when this thing happened and it was pretty slow" I was like _No_ , I had actually completely forgot about that before you mentioned it, which shows its lack of importance to the story. But then you mentioned such spectacular moments in the anime that reminded me of how good Naruto was, it's really something to remember.
Hard to say. I finished the manga long before the anime was complete and watching it all get animated was the most exciting part. I never once said hey the manga did this better as i watched the anime. So id have to go revisit the manga to answer. Theres too many other manga to read for me to revisit 700 chapters of naruto. It was the best manga ive ever read tho so far
Honnestly can't agree more, i loved naruto after watching it as it was released when i was little and am currently reading it, I can't put into words how much it reignited my love for the story
being an anime only, I dont feel angry when someone says manga is better, instead I feel happy that one of my favourite shows is actually even better in the original source and makes my love for this series and respect for the author grow even deeper
So we’re just not allow to compare anime and manga cuz of that? Rtarded take the Naruto fan base would’ve been out selected back in tribal times and wiped out the gene pool.
17:05 I mean like, there are people in the main cast of Boruto that are shown in several episodes including the openings but isn't even mentioned or shown in the manga.
Ah, filler episodes. 13-year-old me didn't know they were a thing either so I sat through the whole anime until I caught up with it (from 2013 to 2016). I remember the horrifying realisation that I essentially had two options: Watch everything as it aired once a week, even the fillers, or wait until the anime finished (which at that point, I didn't know when that would happen) so I could skip the fillers. I sat through them once a week lol.
Since I watched Naruto after it was completely done, I can still complain about the filler episodes because yeah the pacing was my biggest complaint about Naruto, every time it got good I would get hit with a filler and it would take me out of the story and I would have to go look up the filler list just to skip to where I was at, and I also hated how they would recycle flashbacks repeatedly and use them in later seasons like for example the flashbacks of itachi and sasuke training, I’ve seen it so many damn times
I think it's because the show was airing on TV for so long. Sometimes people need those flashbacks to remind them why that past event was relevant to the current story. Nowadays we live with streaming where people can binge watch over time and don't quite need the reminders.
I always roll my eyes when people say the animation was low quality in the Naruto vs Pain fight. Objectively that was over animated. The same animator who worked on that fight also animated the first Final Valley fight between Naruto and Sasuke. It was a stylistic decision that you didn’t appreciate, not poor animation
One of your better videos in my opinion. I'm glad at least one other person in the world thinks that the anime adaptation of Guy vs Madara could've been a lot better than it was. I think that they drew Ten Tails Madara poorly in the anime so often that it negatively affected how people viewed that character design.
Others points to add: -Sakura is much better in the manga -The relationship between Sakura and Sasuke make sense in the manga and the anime ruined it -The relationship between Naruto and Hinata is fine in the anime but the manga version is better -The anime put a lot of plot holes like the Kaguya filler -They ruined team 7 alchemy by destroying the characterization of Sakura (and a little bit of Sasuke) -Kishimoto is one of the best artist and designer of all time in term of style, panelling, pacing etc... -The Jiraya arc (episode 432-450) is trash from beginning to end -I repeat it but Sakura in the anime is the biggest bitch ever written after captain Holdo and Rose Tico -Naruto anime is the lion king 2019, Naruto manga is the original lion king Naruto deserve a remake. He's peak fiction and a faithful adaptation with great animation could make it the best animated series of all time Naruto manga is art, Naruto anime is product
-eh...she is still bad she just doesn't hit Naruto as much. -not really it isn't better in the manga at all and the anime didn't ruin it. -nah the anime is better. -not really like that Filler isn't plot holes -not true and they didn't destroy the characterization of them at all. -I dunno about pacing but in terms of style and panelling absolutley. -Eh...it isn't all bad, but also the Kakashi anbu arc and the 3 tails arc are good, same with the Fu arc. -she is still bad in the manga though. -that is not true in the slightest, the anime is actually pretty good. There is a faithful adaptation though. No it's art too. And stuff like Kakashi vs Obito and Naruto vs Sasuke is better in the manga.
So… I’ve always thought about this. The Ultimate Ninja Storm series has some amazing fights that aren’t in the anime OR the manga. How would y’all feel if they dropped the 2D style for the anime and used the 3D cell shaded style? Whatever graphics engine they used for it is absolutely phenomenal and sometimes I forget that it’s actually 3D and not drawn animation. That also decreases the work load animators have because they will already have pre-made models for every character. I’d definitely be into that.
Meh, the 3D cutscenes definitely have their weaknesses when it comes to some of the scenes with less spectacle. Some of the small moments lose their impact.
I watched the Naruto anime series until after the Pain arc. I was using the filler list at some point after that but gave up after having episodes with 6 minute flashbacks. I switched over to the manga and was absolutely floored by the pacing. I was expecting less flashbacks, no fillers and stuff but the fact that I was able read to the end of the manga in 2 weeks rather than having to consistently check where the flashbacks and timewasting was going to happen in the anime was lovely.
When Naruto was still in productions I read every new manga issue and watched each new anime episode. Ultimately I got excited for both of them, but I was more excited for new anime episodes. Sometimes I wouldn't understand what happened in the manga, so I would wait for the anime episode to show it more clearly. And seeing it all in color and motion is better to me. But I do get why some people prefer the manga.
I wish Naruto's animation got the same care as One Piece's animation did. The 4th Great Ninja War was done no justice with any of the fights. Obito's reveal I remember being so impactful and in the anime it just didn't translate well at all.
Another thing is character design. When you look at modern adaptations such as AoT, Vinland Saga and others, you can't help but be in awe at how much better everyone looks compared to the manga. In the Naruto manga everyone looks better than their anime counterparts.
That's entirely circumstantial. No berserk anime will ever look better then the manga for example. Isayama was never super good at drawing so it wasnt exactly hard to make the anime look better, especially since it was WIT studio making the adaptation at first. Character designs are simplified because they have to be drawn thousands of times and in fast paced animated scenes you can do a lot more with a less detailed character. Id argue most anime dont look anywhere near as good as the manga and when it does its the exception.
@@Ayeato I agree. Just look at Bleach anime adaptation. Even with the focus on character design and depth instead of movement, it still looks a bit worse than manga. So it depends on which manga is getting adaptation
@@chasinghaze0962 In Cour 2 yaha vs Ichibe fight there is 1 scene where animation is on par with manga and took them probably same time to animate 3sec than normal 5 minutes :D
You had me lost at 1:25. You say that the manga has more detail and intricate designs. Kishimoto specifically said that he had to SIMPLIFY everyones designs for Shippuden to make it easier on himself to draw it. Not only that but HALF of the god damn post time-skip naruto both in manga AND in anime is the War arc where EVERYONE WEARS THE SAME THING.
It gets better the further I go. WHAT SHONEN ANIME IS RELEASED seasonally, as in, the whole episode. Not a single anime, except for thee Netflix ones were released all at once so far. It's always been a weekly formula.
@@MrPierdole123I think he meant seasonal as in the entire season is being animated AFTER the manga season fully came out, and THEN after the season is (almost) fully animated the singular episodes are being released weekly. So yes obviously we don't get entire seasons in one big bunch but rather well paced and animated episodes without a noticable quality drop inbetween episodes every time a new season is being tackled
You just explained really well why I did not originally watched Naruto when it aired. It's the super-stretched pacing with millions of flashbacks, recaps, and other crap! Especially after watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, where they had zero pacing issues, in my view. I watched Naruto a year ago skipping all fillers and watching at 1.25-1.50x speed. I loved it, but still agree with all your very fair criticisms!
I remember one filler episode that made absolutely no sense. Kid Naruto saves an enemy ninja who I think lost his memory. By the time the story comes to an end, the guy has regained his memory but is changed by Naruto. There’s a detonator in a cave that needs to be pressed or people in the leaf village are going to get hurt or die. Naruto is gonna go press it to save everyone but the filler character knocks him out and sacrifices himself. I was very confused as to why Naruto didn’t just send a shadow clone in to hit the button. That’s like, the exact situation that kinda jutsu exists
I agree with most of what you say with those few exceptions: Utakata`s story was one of the coolest. Utakata is one of the best characters. And his fight against Pain was amazing. Guren`s Arc with the 3-Tails was perfect and very important. Kaguya may not be cooler than Madara but i love her. She is one of the best and most op villains of anime history. Kaguya >>> Sukuna, Beerus, Buu, Frieza, Cell, Muzan, etc. Zetsu is also underrated. I really appreciate his character. I liked the episode where they simulated the bridge meeting with Yamato / Kabuto. I enjoyed almost all the filler episodes. I really dont understand why people would skip any single episode of any Anime. I never skip anything. Dont tell people to skip Kaguya Arc. Its the climax of the war bro. Dont ruin the plot. In the last 5 episodes of Naruto we see him being Hokage when he married Hinata.
Utakata doesn't have a fight against Pain rofl. He goes down instantly. Liking Kaguya? Everything you've ever said or will ever say is forever invalid. Kaguya is garbage. Everything about her is garbage.
Started watching Naruto in 2005. Part 1 fillers were some what good just for the fact of giving the Konoha 11 the spotlight. The Team Guy fights in the Gaara rescue arc was my first instance of feeling like filler and it got worse with the Sasori fight. That was the moment I truly commited to the manga.
I discovered what "filler" truly was when Naruto and a bunch of others got word of this rare insect that should be able to pick up Sasuke's scent and help them track him down to bring him back to the village. This was a few episodes of bad guys and I'm pretty sure Naruto sees Hinata naked for the 1st time? The crew eventually finds this bug and this should lead to them finally finding Sasuke!.... Then Naruto farts and the bug disappears forever... rendering the entire mission a complete waste.
I said the stand still and talk thing is just how back then anime would adapt from the manga. In the manga it easy to just put a big part of a dialogue in a single pannel, but that translate poorly in anime, hence why the standing off staring at each other and talking (Or those moment when they dash in to attack and it take 50 year while they talk). Seasonal anime don,t have that problem since they acctualy got time to fill up those moment with some animation.
Actually for some reason I don't find the fights in the seasonal animes that emotionally impactful at all. Its like 5 to 6 minutes of God tier fluid animation but then thats it. Tobi vs Minato was such a short fight and there were staredowns and dialogues involved but the tension was maintained and the fight just sucks you in for some reason. And when some of the longer fights in Naruto finally ends it feels so fulfilling like we have gone on a journey with the characters ourselves.
the filler model is still better than than stalling model used in one piece the latter is unwatchable at some parts the filler could be skipped after series has finished both are hell in weekly basis tho thank god there are seasonal anime nowadays
The biggest problem is that Naruto kind of did both. I'd be fine with more filler arcs if the main story content was reasonably paced. But even some of the main story stuff ended up feeling padded out by using some of the same tricks One Piece would do (repeated flashbacks being the most egregious In Naruto's case). It would even have filler blended into some of the main story episodes
If Kaguya wasn’t introduced we would not know where did Chakra come from so I think she was necessary I guess I think Hagoromo inventing chakra would have made sense since he made the tailed beasts
I had to stop listening to your speech on Jiraya halfway through because I got hit with the realisation that I was listening to Ragnarok Online's Juno theme. I loved the video though. Thank you
So by reading some of the comments here I now see why Dygoknight hates the anime so much and prefers the manga. I am 15 now and I just finished the anime like a couple weeks ago and I was like why complain so much about the fillers just skip them. But he and people in the comment section are from the time when Naruto was a weekly anime and had to wait an entire week just to watch a episode full of flashbacks and little to no progress in the plot. That sounds so bad not gonna lie. I watched it from a website so i just skipped the fillers so i had no problem with them.
I wouldn't say Konohamaru was a useless character. He's supposed to show that there are people in the village that do like Naruto genuinely and that kids can look up to him. But that's about it. Anyways, as an anime only, thanks for the good video.
The first season and Shippuden both combined 720 episodes, remove all the filler, probably about 370 total..... maybe.... so read the manga better option.
@@thealmightysting1115 Tons of episodes are a mix of filler and canon content though so the pacing is still kinda bad even skipping the stuff that's entirely filler.
@@thealmightysting1115 not even that, the "canon" episodes have padding on them like extra unnecessary flashbacks along with horrid pacing, it's atrocious really. read the manga, it's great
You know my big problem with filler is in my opinion that it almost always involves naruto and I know he is the main character of the show but if the filler actually focused on what the other teams are up to like team guy or team kurenai I think other people would be a lot more accepting of filler even if said episodes are a bit goofy or again don't advance the plot plus I would like to see the other teams actually fight more and show their growth using their strength or just their character.
This is the anime vs manga ups and downs in a nutshell. Orochimaru walking to the bridge. Manga : 1 Panel. The Anime : **10 minutes.** Shikimaru trying to process his coping by trying to hide his emotions until he broke down and cries with mournful tears. The Manga : Non-existence.. The Anime : We glad it happened.
Filler can be ok if it is written by someone that gets the show they are working on and its characters. Of course it can't move plot or conclude character arcs, but it can be neat to have more character interactions and chances for them to do their things. The boy that wanted to be Hoshikage in the Star Village one is serviceable. We get to see Naruto interact with another kid with his same name. Characters get to do more of what they do. There's a couple fights. And you know, it doesn't ad, but it doesn't subtract. It's another little mission for the ninjas to do and interact with themselves. The random episodes where there's a competition or an absurd mission or the entire thing is a gag or they have to walk back on everything by the end of the arc because it can't be canon is a terrible bold way to do filler. But you know what? Entire filler episodes or fillers have, with time, proven to be superior to be the superior form of filler, if you can even say that. Take One Piece for an example. It tried filler seasons twice, they not only didn't work, they also sucked at reading their own characters. So they stopped doing them, and instead focused on extending the credits, reaction shots, conversations, padding the entire run time with people repeating talk points, jokes, etc. The result is that One Piece is fine weekly or can be fine on a first time watch, but it is DREADFUL for streaming and rewatches. You have to skip 10 minutes of the episode everytime and then sit through 5 minutes of things that aren't the five minutes of things you actually want to watch. On the other hand, seasonal shonen has been looking better, yes, but every other week there's another show being exposed to working their animators to the bone in crunches and bad pay and shit like that, so it isn't exactly worth it. Also a lot of these shows suffer immensely from hype dying down.
I feel like in general “good” filler is added to shows when the manga rushes through things. But most of the long running Shonen don’t have good filler. They have filler that ruins tone and pacing. Good filler exists but it’s usually done wrong.
this is the kind of thing happen to a lot of series too, specially with how many show butcher the source material to squeeze in more arc nowaday. it always sad to see people after watched the anime, go read the manga but leave the "where do i read after the anime is over?" like they can't be bother to read it from the start and just want to know what happen next
In conclusion: - If you take out filler it gets better BUT - There are many still scenes ruining the pacing of the episode - many unnecessary filler flashbacks in the middle of many episodes. - filler in the middle of episodes This is true I am showing this show to my friend and the amount of things I have to skip just to keep him interested is starting to piss me off. they need to remake the entire show Ill pay for it.
Stop cutting a lot of things form the manga like sakura save Naruto in the first arc and tusnade and sakura together in the beginning of Shippuden when Naruto goes to meet them
Manga with select anime episodes is the best experience, as the manga has really excellent paneling and clean art, with proper pacing and content better represented (not to mention anime obfuscates some canon with its filler). However, they’re are many episodes that greatly improve on the manga in its additions, direction, and production but also there are some that properly rearranges manga chapters so that immersion is not broken. The manga is pretty bad in how it has multiple events play out at once and keeps shifting POVs when something big is going on in one of the POVs. It breaks up Jiraiya vs Pain very poorly for example.
You can say whatever you want about 100 episodes filler in season 1. But i enjoyed it more than anything else. We have 100 episode without drama, just chilling and exploring the world, and this bought me completely
I actually voted for the game being the best version, cuz after reading/watching the series a couple times I just wanna go to the game and do all the cool shit only😂
Sakura's character was well handled in the Manga and so is Sasuke's secret crush on Sakura and how their facial expressions coincide Sasuke and Sakura shared expressions sometimes
The studio loves hinata so much that they wanted her to end with Naruto hinata barely exists in the manga the only reason she ended with Naruto because she was popular character because of fillers they hate sakura for some
I think most people discovered what were filler chapters around the Sanbi anime arc, where there was an user of "crystal release" and many of us looked for what elements combine to crystal to discover that the chakra release is non existent in Naruto, unless you are watching the anime, for which many of us re associated that if it is not in the manga, it's not original, and at that time people started recognizing that Dragon Ball GT was also filler and a bad series.
I didn’t know what filler was so I watched EVERY episode of OG Naruto😭. I remember after Sasuke left and the filler started I kept thinking “why is this so boring and why is the plot not progressing and why do they never talk about these events or characters again?!”😭
In my case, I did know what filler was, the problem was that I didn’t know which one was filler, and then when after sasuke ran away, I didn’t know the next 100 episodes were just filler! And the next canon episode was the last one!

I’d love to see a Naruto Kai with all the filler cut out, as uncensored as possible, and reanimated if possible just see how much shorter it is. This is one time I’d excuse bringing a franchise back just to milk extra money.
You can find something called Naruto Kai. All fillers were cut there (sadly 101 was cut too) including those mixed filler/canon stuff. And it's also ordered in way that manga did, so Kakashi kid arc is in the right spot.
I discorvered fillers through the Storm videogames, I wondered why there was certain characters in the game and why they story wasn't covered in the story mode and after some research ta-da I discovered the existence of fillers
Every time I watch a video like this, I thrive for a seasonal remake for the Naruto anime, not only bc I’m tired of not being able to recommend it to friends (and them actually watching it), but also bc I’d love to watch it this way myself

@RT-zn9bjJiraiya is his family 😢
@RT-zn9bjbecause dude straight up was THE kind father figure in his life?

THANK YOU. I would like a FMAB-like treatment for Naruto where everything adapts the manga but adds some great scenes from the ninja storm games.
This isn't FMAB, this is more along the lines of DBZ Kai.
They then had a filler arc with that electric sword dude where Naruto saves the day WHICH MAKES SASUKE SALTY AND LEAVE THE VILLAGE because Naruto had the final blow
My favorite character in all of anime is Sasuke but the anime really does make him way more of a jealous kid instead of the avenger of the Uchiha that the manga better portrays him as
They completely botched that whole sequence.

What are your thoughts on it so far?
The thing with the Naruto anime is that there are some moments of brilliance that far outweigh the manga. Both fights between Naruto and Sasuke, Kakashi vs Obito, Rock Lee vs Gaara and so many other fights were handled so perfectly that even if you prefer the manga overall, you would still be missing out by not watching the anime

Heh, same thing here, I was already a big manga/anime fan but so far I had skipped on Naruto (you can't read/watch _everything_ right?), and one day on TV the new Naruto episode comes out and I happened to be watching, and those 2 dudes are about to fight, and DAMN
I was glued to my seat the whole episode, and after that I asked my fellow manga collector friend to lend me his Nauto collection so I could binge it, which I did in about a week maybe
(at the time the manga was right before the "War Arc", we didn't know who Tobi was, etc etc).
Naruto might not have ended up in my top 5 favorite mangas of all time, it might not even break the top 10, but I'm still very happy to have read it, and to have been able to live through the war arc in real time
It was a pain in the ass since some parts are really dragging, but it was still fun to see the insane twists alongside the rest of the fandom; there were soooo many burnt-out fans who were "done" with Naruto and just read the latest chapter "out of habit and because after all these years might as well read the ending" and were just so bitter about everything, it was kinda funny ^^

I literally remember seeing the same flashback at least 15 times in one episode of naruto the filler in this show is absolutely agregous

I think that they drew Ten Tails Madara poorly in the anime so often that it negatively affected how people viewed that character design.

-not true and they didn't destroy the characterization of them at all.

@@ranzudezuLRTC I'm not a Sakura hater, I am just saying the truth.
11:19 Bro, that swing has more screen time THAN TENTEN😂
I actually liked the utakata arc😂😂. It was one of my favorite fillers and actually left me with tears in my eyes. I thought it was a great love story
Filler episodes are valid the story of Indra and Asura is accurate
They are, but it still doesn't make it better
Why is the manga coloured? It looks gorgeous.
There are official color volumes of the manga with the colors chosen by Kishimoto.
When I go to a filler list I just remember the number the canon ends and go to it again once I hit the number
I agree with most of what you say with those few exceptions:
Utakata`s story was one of the coolest.
0:41 that's why I find it weird that the anime toned it down since most anime are TV 14 to try to be accurate to the manga's level of violence
And when some of the longer fights in Naruto finally ends it feels so fulfilling like we have gone on a journey with the characters ourselves.
the filler model is still better than than stalling model used in one piece
the latter is unwatchable at some parts
the filler could be skipped after series has finished
both are hell in weekly basis tho
thank god there are seasonal anime nowadays
I do actually agree with this, id much rather one piece have 100 episode fillers then the arcs pacing be reduced to a crawl making it un watchable.
@@AyeatoI read the manga and watch the high rated episode
The biggest problem is that Naruto kind of did both. I'd be fine with more filler arcs if the main story content was reasonably paced. But even some of the main story stuff ended up feeling padded out by using some of the same tricks One Piece would do (repeated flashbacks being the most egregious In Naruto's case). It would even have filler blended into some of the main story episodes
If Kaguya wasn’t introduced we would not know where did Chakra come from so I think she was necessary I guess
I think Hagoromo inventing chakra would have made sense since he made the tailed beasts
We had absolutely no need to know where chakra came from. It was stated to be the natural life force of all things. Kaguya retcons this.
It's bad.
@@925263humans before had chakra but they couldn’t use it because it was just life force energy so no your point is invalid
Dunno if this counts in there too, but the anime also changed Sakura on occasion, making her unsympathetic towards Naruto.
Yup...some of S.P's staff really dislikes her and makes her look bad in the Anime... 💔💨
I adress it in the video why "just skipping the filler" doesn't work
Honestly, I enjoyed watching the Utekata arc. I watched it with my family, and found it to be quite interesting and emotional.
Or skip the filler lol
The Anime : **10 minutes.**
Shikimaru trying to process his coping by trying to hide his emotions until he broke down and cries with mournful tears.
The Manga : Non-existence..
The Anime : We glad it happened.
0:11 I was introduced to another female Asian character, over and over again.
This is odd because dygoknight cant read
They should make a brotherhood/kai version of naruto where its just a 1:1 manga adaptation into anime
Youll watch the series one time, and see itachi slaughter the uchiha clan 200+ times.
In conclusion:
- If you take out filler it gets better BUT
- There are many still scenes ruining the pacing of the episode
- many unnecessary filler flashbacks in the middle of many episodes.
- filler in the middle of episodes
This is true I am showing this show to my friend and the amount of things I have to skip just to keep him interested is starting to piss me off.
they need to remake the entire show Ill pay for it.
Your narration is getting better
You can say whatever you want about 100 episodes filler in season 1. But i enjoyed it more than anything else. We have 100 episode without drama, just chilling and exploring the world, and this bought me completely
I actually voted for the game being the best version, cuz after reading/watching the series a couple times I just wanna go to the game and do all the cool shit only😂

Also, for some reason, the anime kept tanking the pacing even after the manga ended which doesn't make any logical sense!
