    These are my favorite kind of reviews. Someone who has actually owned it for a extended period of time. I’ve owned my turtle almost a year and wear it everyday and don’t feel like I could give it a proper review like you have the subby.

    I give you utmost respect and mad props for deciding not to have your personal Submariner refinished. I have personally seen too many used examples lose their original shape due to over-polishing, and it saddens me immensely.

      That could be said for anywhere. I’m from ireland, and other folks I know who wear nice watches or jewellery a. don’t live in areas where that would happen, b. wouldn’t step out of a taxi earlier than the 5 second walk it takes to enter a building (like their surgery or firm offices etc.) in areas where it would. This goes for my friends in London as well. Also city centres in Ireland aren’t that bad. Don’t go to the rough parts and you’re sorted. Like London, I literally don’t know anyone in London who walks. Anyone. Then again, if you deck yourself out in stuff that can be seen to be valuable from kms away and then go for a leisurely stroll in places where the wrong sort hang out, it’s on you… also most big city centres in Europe where this could be a problem ie. Dublin, London, Paris etc. have private parks for city centre residential areas with locked gates and security to be used by townhouse’s residents.

    So nice to see a proper review like this instead of someone having a watch for 2 days, doing a review about how great it is and it being an exit watch and then selling it after a month to get the next fad - often for some random minor reason.
    Once you commit to a watch and don’t have the intention or possibility to sell it, you can enjoy it so much more I think.
    I got a Reverso duoface as a gift, but all the watches I buy myself I treat like a slush fund and sell them every 2-6 months to get something new. I bet loads of them could have made me happy long term but mentally I’m already looking at “what I could get if…” from about a month! The Reverso could get me so many watches hypothetically but it’s not for sale so I don’t look, or convince myself the next watch will be better.
    Great review anyway, thanks👌(liked and subscribed)

      Thanks for the comment. I agree and I tend to have 2 category or pieces in my collection which aligns with what you’re saying. This applies to most things like knives and shoes too. You don’t get the full noy out of wearing and using tgings untill they get a few scuffs and scratches and you actually start using them as intended, because you stop worrying about getting a scuff mark here and there. (Obviously I don’t mean neglect or abuse things)

    Obviously the time is forever changing, so you might look at your watch dozens or hundreds of time per day.

    The same watch on your wrist for ten years. I’ve been wearing a Pepsi GMT since 1967. For me it’s 56 years of looking at a red & blue bezel. I’m on my fifth sub. Buying a 2022 sub from my AD. Also I wear a 2022 Pepsi on a oyster bracelet since that is what my first GMT has. My sub is on my watch winder. I’ll sell it soon as my AD calls me that my SS Daytona came in. Then the sub will be sold.

    Like you, I went for the Classic no date Submariner for the same reasons as you, not to mention the watch was born without the date so makes me happy knowing I have one closest to the original. Has yours got any dings? I got a recent ding on the lug which is annoying. I don’t mind the scratches and scruffs, just not the small dings/dents…
    Also, is your Submariner your most worn and most versatile watch ? I wear my Datejust 41 (blue dial on fluted bezel and jubilee most of the time when working in the office), but outside of that the Submariner is the most worn watch on my wrist, even more than my Daytona

    • @RedDotWatches
      @RedDotWatches  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes in my collection it is for sure the most worn easily on my wrist 60-70% of the last 10 years. Lots of sratches and a few bad ones but no dings on the edges which is a blessing.
      If the ding bothers you, you can always go get it laser welded which will solve that problem without breaking the bank or polishing it to death.

    I had a pre-ceramic Sub for ten years and my dislikes were the poor precision (+6.1 secs/day), the easy-to-damage bezel (mine needed replacing within the first five years), the short 5-year service interval, the high price of servicing, the feeling of unease wearing it in public due to it being a thief magnet, the stamped clasp and the lack of on-the-fly adjustability. In the end I sold it and replaced it with a San Martin SN019-G, which looks the same, has none of these downsides and cost me a fraction of the price. No regrets at all.

    • @rafaeloliva6425
      @rafaeloliva6425 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The ceramic era sub has the best "on the fly adjustment" in the industry. All metal bezels are prone to wear and tear, not just Rolex. A little common sense and situational awareness goes a long way in preventing theft. I also have martial arts training and am a concealed carry 2nd amendment lover who, is ready to exercise my right to self defense.

My San Martin has on-the-fly adjustment. I am a Judo gold medallist, but trust me, martial arts do not help you in a watch theft situation, or in any street-fight situation to be honest. This is not London or somewhere place where subjugated people are at the mercy of criminals that your own governments coddle. The maxicase is superior in every measurable metrix, and brings the Sub into the modern Era.
      Solid links that do not stretch, a truly wear resistant bezel and the glide lock clasp that is such a functional upgrade from the dated subs. It also has the most refined version of the venerable 3135 movement.
      Other than someones nostalgic emotions, the preceramic is inferior in everyday.

      Agreed, why buy a Rolex then. His whole rationale seemed lame and trying to justify, not dropping a little bit more coin and buy the Sub date.
