Wow!!! What an incredible idea!!! As soon as I'm set up I'll definitely be getting these plans!!! THANK YOU!! 😊😊God bless you my friend and I pray that God will bless you as you move forward!!😊😊💚🍀
Hello Roy, Thanks for sharing your skill with us beginers...I've just ordered your plans on CD....You and Black Bear are amazing smiths,,,Hope I can meet you Both in person some day
Where you at Roy ?, If your seriouse that I can visit you I will try to arrange. Maybe we can try to meet John from Black Bear Forge too. I would love to meet you guys
THAT LOOKS PRETTY SWEET, I JUST HAPPEN TO HAVE A BIG STAND FROM AN OLD GAS TRANSMISSION PLANT, MAKE A SWEET LIL BASE FOR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, ALSO NICE PRACTICE RUN FOR A BIGGER HAMMER, JUST IN SCALE
ok i agree your videos have improved and making a portable anvil mounted power hammer wow great idea and your youtube name needs to reflect your Christ center im glad i stumbled across you God bless i subscribed
grayem pepper thank you so much for subscribing and your kind words! I'm glad to have you and hopefully will not let you or the rest of my subscribers down. God bless you and have a great weekend
+Vintage Wood Workshop that is awesome I'm glad you're learning a lot from these videos ! Thank you for the great Comet God bless you have a great week :-)
That is very cool! Haven't worked 1 inch by hand in a while for reference, but that appears quite effective. Works out to the magical 10 to 1 or more anvil to hammer ratio nicely. Some sort of bottom die holder for fuller ect. would be easy and handy. Awesome little hammer!
One question 😃 by what is it driven? I'm thinking of making one but very different. because I don't have an anvil big enough what Size motor do I need ?
Not only Wood any hi torque electric motor will work. you just need torque not speed. variable speed motors will be best for tuning. I don't know what to recommend if you are not following the plans exactly. if you have a general idea of what you are going for I might be able to help. thanks again for watching. God bless
Hello My Friend , just went to your site . Want to download - saw this ; a REVISTED version of the Hardy Hammer in my storefront . I dont see it , can you direct me ? Thanks
Wow what a great creation. Mad skills .I have got to hand it to you this is definitely something that could go very far . Hope you patterned her she is truly a nice piece. God Bless you and your family for the weekend. Fyi I am pretty shure on every side of the die needs to equal 7 if I am not mistaken. Like 6 on one side with one on the opposite side Thanks, Martin Moldovan at M/ S Blacksmithing and Blades
Shan Moldovan thank you very much for your kind words about the hammer! I hope it goes very far and helps alot of people! first pair of dice I have ever made lol so wasn't to sure how to make them. Thanks for the great info though . God bless you and your family martin as well Happy smithing!
Christ Centered Ironworks Thank you for your very great response and the harted reply . I realize this is the first It would be an honor to have such a wonderful tool. I cant say enough about your idea .If what I am in visioning or its success This piece should take you a long way.I love this piece it is absolutely amazing. Many Blessings for you and your family. Sincerely, Martin Moldovan at M/ S Blacksmithing and Blades.
Outstanding little power hammer!! Great innovation! I currently only have one anvil,so I could see where it may limit the use of hand hammering and touch up work-but will be buying your plans for sure!! Thanks, and GOD BLESS!! Oh,on your dice-each opposite side should equal 7,i.e 6-1, 2-5, 3-4, not being an ass-just giving you a hard time, again GREAT JOB!!
Hi Duke, I look forward to having your support. About the dice... I was told about that after I released the video. I didn't take the time to look it up before hand. But thanks for the heads up! God bless you and have a wonderful day!
You are welcome Roy. I can't get this off of my mind since seeing it this morning. I am sure that I could use this design on my 134# Peter Wright, how hard and fast is the 150# anvil weight? I am fairly certain that any sturdy metal mass can be used as long as it had a hardened steel face. I have been gathering material for a striking anvil made out of 2" mild steel for making hammers as well as saving the face of my PW from inexperienced folks, if you know what I mean... Anyway, I have been thinking about having a stack of 2" mild steel with a piece of 1/2" hardened mild steel as a face equaling about 150+ pounds anchored in a pillar of black pipe filled with cement and partly buried. Just a thought though. I am curious about the motor also, size, rpms voltage etc would be needed? What do you have for yours?
Bruce Prosser I think you're ideal could work out very well. the anvil size was developed by trying it out on my #465 anvil and the smaller anvil size was my buddies at #150 worked on both well. the design can be shortened up to fit a smaller anvils length and width. it also can be enlarged for much bigger anvils... Thank you so much for your great commentary and support. maybe this thing will help a lot of smiths out.
I watched this video partially a long time ago. It is a great idea. I think I could build it for a lot less than $400 though! I live in a nice area for blacksmithing.
I might be keen on building this hammer but I have a few questions, how does this hammer compare to your simple davinci style hammer does this one hit harder what are the advantages and disadvantages of this over this hammer compared to the davinci style?
+Ubiquidic thanks for the great question! to answer your first question: this hammer when properly tuned will hit just as hard as The DaVinci Revisited style hammer not the original hammer. The original hammer is a simple drop mechanism and therefore does not hit as hard as this Hammer does. The advantage of a guided hammer like this Style versus a Helve hammer is the ability to use tooling underneath them. A Helve hammer were predominantly used to draw out material not incorporate tooling underneath. The disadvantage of this particular hammer is the fact you need a minimum of 100lb anvil weight to build a effective enough hammer. As we're the other style hammer is predominantly made of wood and therefore cheaper to construct not needing a Anvil to start. Hope this helps thanks for the question God bless

Thanks for the reply my current anvil is a 110lb cast steel anvil would this be pretty good for the hammer on this video as I have seen that you said this hammer is suitable for a 150lb anvil and above on your details of it on your website
+Ubiquidic I believe your Anvil would be big enough you may have to adjust the base to fit your anvil and the Hardy hole as well but other than that the guide and RAM assembly and the rest of the components should work out fine
I am interested in buying the plans. But, I have some questions. How many heats did it take to finish? What is the size of the dice now? Do you know how much pressure it is hitting with? Are we able to hit harder or lighter? and I think it is a amazing design!!!
Hi Roy I bought your plans and built this hammer but can't get it to move steel like yours not sure what I done wrong but would like to know if you could give me any pointers
+Spencer Pearson it may be a little underpowered for that type of use depending on how big bush hog blades you're talking if they're in the kind I'm thinking of you will probably need a lot larger hammer
Christ Centered Ironworks thank you brother. I still think this is a great hammer and will be buying plans from you soon. I do plan on a bigger hammer but could use this for or all the other things. And also to help teach others with no experience in a hammer to so they get use to the idea of it.
+Spencer Pearson thank you brother! I really appreciate that. It is a great little hammer for a lot of things I currently like it the most for making tongs works pretty good for that :-) God bless you and thank you for taking the time to watch
Christ Centered Ironworks I do have one more question . Do you show in your drawings how the tighten system works in the Hardy. I got a idea but did not want to give that away thanks.
I have purchased two of your plans and need some question answered. I tried to two different email addresses but no responds. Am I doing something wrong as its states since I bought some plans you would answer questions. Thanks
Hello Jim, We're a bit behind on emails, but I located the email you are referring to. I will sit down with Roy so that we can answer your questions. Look for our response in your inbox. Sincerely, Jessica
I am in the process of assembling my Hardy hammer and making the tools you suggested. I am new at this and just want to have fun - retired and want to make things like hooks, bottle openers, maybe a chisel and punch, etc. Weak hands from surgery are the reason I decided to build one. Can you suggest some small projects that this hammer would be good for? I am going to make the dice and the meat turning hook as I have some scrap material and a few hundred railroad spikes that will work fine. I am looking for small projects like that. If you have done more videos making small projects, could you direct me to it? Anybody else have suggestions as well? Thanks.
Its my pleasure, When I see something that is a important as your creation I feel the need to share with people that have the same interests. Sincerely, Martin Moldovan
how much would you charge to build and sell one of these and your bigger one you have in the corner of your workshop? =} just sold my motorcycle to buy a powerhammer. been forging as a hobby mainly for the past few years. Anvil and tongs, punches, hardy tools of all shapes and purposed have all been hand crafted from jimmied materials haha. (anvil is literally welded together using nothing but railroad spikes as a frame/base and railroad tie plates as the face and base, But works beautifully) and have decided over the past few months im becoming fair enough in the craft to justify owning one and its not something that im confident in building myself. i appreciate your consideration and reply.
Anybody made one of these? I am in the process of building one and I am looking for a photo of the side opposite the one that is in the videos. I am ready to start assembling the hammer, and I would like to see what the side looks like where the drill is mounted. I have asked for one by have had no response. Thanks.
The diagram of the side is in the pdf... It also has a exploded diagram of this. We sent you a email about this question might need to check the spam folder..
Love the stuff you make and design but all the talking gets a bit much, keep it short and simple and on point wil save alot of your time and ours data/time cost money thats my rant for the day.
Its refreshing to see someone thinking outside the box in designing this hammer, well done
Dave Adams Thank you sir for the great comment!
I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

It's a good idea. Make the most of the existing anvil mass, because you can't use both at the same time anyway.
Thank you and Bless you for the help you give us begginers, I already purchased a Tshirt and mug, will be ordering a pdf of one of your hammers
Hello Roy, Thanks for sharing your skill with us beginers...I've just ordered your plans on CD....You and Black Bear are amazing smiths,,,Hope I can meet you Both in person some day

Bruce Prosser the motor is the same as my Cam hammer . the exact model # is in the plans. I think it is about 1hp roughly.
Thanks Roy.

Hi Roy ! What would you charge to make one and what would the shipping be to British Columbia, Canada ?
I am interested in buying the plans. But, I have some questions. How many heats did it take to finish? What is the size of the dice now? Do you know how much pressure it is hitting with? Are we able to hit harder or lighter? and I think it is a amazing design!!!

I'll try to get a video of it soon as I can thank you Roy
Your welcome
Could it be because it's a high carbon steel and not mild steel
Hey brother. I wanted to know will this thing have enough to strike bush hog blads and things like that
+Spencer Pearson it may be a little underpowered for that type of use depending on how big bush hog blades you're talking if they're in the kind I'm thinking of you will probably need a lot larger hammer

Finally bought plans and in the process of making one, sadly to fit 45kilo anvil.
In credible design.
Are you planning on selling the Hardy Hammer itself instead of just the plans?
Brett, at this time I am only selling the plans.
how much would you charge to build and sell one of these and your bigger one you have in the corner of your workshop? =} just sold my motorcycle to buy a powerhammer. been forging as a hobby mainly for the past few years. I like it!
I don’t have the money for a full size hammer and this would be perfect.
