4:00 is so funny, Bruce making like Blaze and singing a full octave down. Okay, almost a full octave, since the original is in E and this version is in D, one step lower.
actually this song is still in standard tune they reversed the keys instead of starting in the key of e like the blaze version they started in the key blaze sang in then went to eye as for anyone still debating Bruce versus blaze I am sorry Bruce kills it on this song he opened up the ranges and made it sound more maiden like as for the comment about Bruce not being able to sing it in blazes key wrong again Bruce could do it but the vocals would sound too high if anything Steve and janick altered the keys so blaze could sing where this version with Bruce was the original arrangement of the song and was probably left over from the fear of the dark sessions as for brave New world their are four tracks left over from vertiul x 1 the mercenary dream of mirrors blood brothers the nomad so are we going to say blaze would have sounded better you guys are out of your mind
Dan Horvat guitars are not detuned to d still in standard tune I play guitar keys are reversed to e minor instead of g major it is possible to transpose without detuning the crap out of everything and this song was written during the fear of the dark sessions
Bruce kills it on this song? I hugely disagree, bruce has a tendency to over theatricize songs, this is the perfect example. I remember seeing examples of bruce trying to do dianno's work, and he struggles on any of those songs where he needs to put some nitty gritty into his voice, he just doesnt have that sound, hes more of a schooled a singer (textbook).
I don't understand people... First, all Iron Maiden fans were crying and complaining because Blaze was not good enough for the band. That was one of the most powerful reasons to bring Bruce back. And now people complain about how Bruce performs the songs... What a madness. And Bruce doesn't "murder" this song, he just sings it in a different style, wich is good too.
Great performance on this gem... also the way Bruce pays his tribute to Blaze that he stood still the entire song as Blaze would have done.... great Iron Maiden.
“I like all the mixed emotion and anger It brings out the animal the power you can feel And feeling so high with this much adrenalin Excited but scary to believe what we've become.” This verse is so perfect. An absolute psychological thesis on murderous movements from Nazism to murderous Communism to cults like the Manson Family. Inside every person no matter how holy or how noble lays a murderous savage that is only tamed by the civilized world.
Bruce will never be replaced Never ever His voice charisma and energy on scene are inegalable And will stay untill the end of times Love you and respect so much dear Dickinson and all the members of the band Iron Maiden UNIC
i like it that they don't try to make it sound "modern" like it did on the album. it just sounds like the straight-up old-school Maiden we all know and love instead. and that's awesome, feels like they just took the song and tailored it for Bruce's voice.
I love this dvd apart from one thing: the editing (I believe Steve Harris was responsible for this). Why on earth do they have to switch between different shots every half a second!? God, it makes my eyes hurt!
This Pakistani friend of mine introduced me to heavy metal. He used to rave on and on about the musical prowess of this band and its lyrical depth. Meeh
I must add, that towards the end of the song, I really loved perhaps even a bit more than some of the versions I've heard Blaze sing. But over all, I think the X-factor album was just terrific for Blaze's voice. Bruce perhaps couldn't have done it any better. X-factor is one of my favorite albums.
A voz do Blaze é absurdamente mais rock'n'roll nessa música. Ele fez coisas maravilhosas no Iron (vide Man On The Edge, Justice Of Peace, Doctor Doctor - cover simplesmente sensacional).
I aggree with you, Blaze sings good for that record and the virtual XL, but Bruce just takes it a higher step that no one can do. Bruce are an Epic singer and frontman, my hero of all time! Up The Irons!!
Not knocking Blaze's singing or anything, but this sounds so much better than the studio version! The guitars sound crisp and the performance is energetic, whereas the studio version sounds anemic. Steve Harris is a brilliant songwriter and a gifted bassist, but he failed as a producer for that "X Factor" album.
Bruce was the best vocalist for Iron Maiden, but he does sound a little uncomfortable with some of those low notes that Blaze Bayley handled with ease. I declare that though Blaze was an imperfect fit, his material with Maiden remains underrated and underappreciated to this day. And that is a hill I will happily die on.

Sounds a bit like a different song when Bruce sings it. Dont get me wrong, i dig it completely. To be honest, most of the songs Bruce sings from the Blaze era sound better with him. The only song Blaze edges Bruce with is Afraid to Shoot Strangers.
@@Westcoasttrendkillblaze was. It the original singer on afraid to shoot strangers Bruce was and live blaze did not best Bruce at all as Bruce kicked his own butt against the studio version and the blaze live version with his performance in 1992 at Donignton trust me I have every album and blaze in his version missed parts and struggled on parts where Bruce went up there but at the end of the, song when Bruce was singing in a lower register blaze was singing higher where he should not hsve at all. You blaze Bailey defenders go see him live then and stop going to see iron maiden as this is the real iron maiden thaf we all grew up listening to and love and to that douchebag trashing Bruce from when he first joined iron maiden in 1981 and, sang remember tommorow yes back then he sounded off compared to Paul dianno. But years later Bruce mastered the song and sings it as well as, paul dianno did if not better live. So go bug off if you prefer blaze Bailey to Bruce dickinson you guys are pathetic.
I really prefer Blaze to this song. Reason being, Blaze's deep bellotone voice blended in better I think. Bruce's high notes over-dominates for this particular song. Takes a song meant to be crunchy and deep, and turns it into a rock opera style.
But that's how iron maiden was suposed to sound and to you blaze Bailey defenders there is a, reason why hexdid not last if Bruce had not come back they were going to replace blaze anyway that's facts read the iron maiden books Steve has said that multiple times and I am sick of the blaze Bailey defenders who go but why didn't iron maiden detjne a, whole step while guess what even if maiden had done that blaze would hsve, still had his voice go out that's facts blaze could not make it through tours like with Bruce that's just the way it is whether you freaking like it or not Bruce is the voice of maiden he may have not been the first but he is the voice of maiden
@@gabrielstern4992 dude, I whole heartedly agree that Bruce is the voice of Maiden. He is by far the greatest singer of all three of them. I was merely making a point about this particular song. And in my humble opinion, Lord of the Flies was best sung by Blaze. But I am not some massive Blaze fan lol
@@benstephenson8993 My apologies then I am just sick of the stuff going on about blaze I have seen news articles and comments like why didn't maiden tune down for blaze and this and that there is a, reason maiden didnt tune down it would hsve compromised thete sound and thus particular is included it's transposed with note reversals but not tune downed at all and guess what thus, song was actaully originally written with Bruce's voice in mind in the first place not blaze Bailey and I agree this is the best version and I was referencing afraid to shoot strangers that's a Bruce song too . Plus I am triggered because I have to deal with concerning gamma ray and frank beck VS Kai Hanson and Ralph sheepers and in that case sorry frank beck is in the Tim Owen's blaze Bailey catagory but his defenders are worse they say crap like he is a nice guy I had a beer with him trust me there is no egos involved when the critism has to do with his voice and performance but when you point out things vocally they have nothing proper to say. Just sick of it. Thankfully Bruce did come back and so did adrian and maiden is still going strong ohh and for those blaze Bailey defenders it took a 14 month tour to wear out Bruce's voice live which did not recover until 1990 VS blaze bailey who could not make it through one tour without any cancelations. And guess what that still would have happened even with detuning. And finally I will say this there are a lot of great songs on x factor but the mix is not that great and again Bruce could have sang a lot of those songs and done a better job. Same with virtual x 1 but virtual x 1 has a much beter mix. @benstephenson8993
First of all: there is no sense possible in a sentence that features "Bruce's voice is too weak". Sorry pal. You can prefer the original. Fair enough. But... in this version Bruce's voice lacks strength?????? The attack when he climbs 1 octave... the utterly demonic low notes on the verses, the contrast in the bridge.... and the "oh oh oh" part... Blaze is simply humming with blank spaces in between the verses while this guy FILLS the room without gaps. I repeat. if you prefer Blaze that's ok to me. But stating he nails it better than Bruce? Come On... I'll give you an example: I'm a huge Sabbath fan. My favourite era are by far the 70's and my favourite Sabbath singer is Osbourne. But I would have to go completly insane to state that Dio was a worst vocalist and sang the 70's songs worst than Ozzy. Dio was better BY FAR in all aspects. As Bruce is better than Blaze. Nevertheless I do prefer Ozzy's to Dio wich is something COMPLETlY different than saying he´s a better vocalist or that he sings Ozzy's Sabbath songs better (wich is pure nonsense). Same applies to Bruce and Blaze. No hating here: just pure technical vocal facts.
Doesn't matter if this song was originally sung by Blaze, I prefer Bruce's voice. Bruce is the only Maiden singer I've really gotten into (his voice was what got me into Maiden at first). Also, during this whole concert his voice was a little off, maybe because of a cold or something. I think that's the reason he doesn't sound that well here.
even if you prefer his voice overall you have to admit Blaze sings this song better. His voice is so fucking powerful, especially his performance for lord of the flies in the tour that would not die gig
I like it that Bruce sings quite highter in the choruses than Blaze, but I like the studio version too. Blaze and Bruce have both very different voices but both are phenomenal vocalists.
I prefer Blaze's voice for this song, his heart was more in it, not to take anything from Bruce, it's just the way it was written Blaze has a more edgier and darker voice more suited to this song.
I was thinking the same, I LOVE Bruce's voice but this bland-depressed style is much more suited for Blaze's timbre. There's a lot more colour and depth in Bruce's voice imo. That's not to say Blaze's is bad, on the contrary - it only goes to show how much it matters who sings which song.
That's because you are very used to Blaze singing it that you automatically link the song to him. If it was Bruce the one that started to sing it from the start people would be saying the reverse, how Blaze doesn't fit the song.
@@okagron still doesnt change the fact blaze fits better. the only time i said "wow" was clansman (rio 2001). Bruce was on par with blaze if not better.
Bruce makes it even better, as with every X and XI song, as he did with remember tomorrow. In my opinion. The Clansman live with Bruce is an instant classic!
I've listened a few more times and seen other live versions, and it definitely feels much better now))) I trust Bruce did the best he could and my problem is entirely mine because, Hell! when Blaze sings it my heart starts thumping anytime. LotF is SO damn powerful and had quite an impact on me at one time. Probably Blaze's soul inhabited this song and won't ever leave it - he is the damned lord of the flies )))
I didn't know Bruce sang the Blaze songs live. That's a bit unusual for a band's previous lead singer to sing the songs that his replacement sang. That would be like if David Lee Roth sang "When It's Love" or something. However in this case, Bruce's vocal range can handle this song so I find it interesting they choose to do this.
Yeah but Paul Di'Anno was the singer BEFORE Bruce. It's normal for someone to sing the songs that they didn't originally sing if it came from the sing before them. While Bruce technically did replace Blaze, Bruce had been in the band before.
They replaced eachother technically lol, blaze did to Bruce then Bruce did it to blaze and Paul is somewhere in a bar, being a fat drunk and singing maiden songs terribly which he thinks are amazing. The man's a mess and a half
Bruce sang more than one song from the Bailey era. On the Rock in Rio live there are two: Sign of the Cross and The Clansman. The latter is one of my favorite Maiden tunes. I think he sang also Futureal on some point. In an interview I read that he liked doing the Di Anno stuff and the Blaze Bailey stuff, and didn't understand why Ian Gillan would refuse to sing older Deep Purple songs (except Hush) or songs from the Coverdale/Hughes era. It's just a matter of putting your ego aside and enjoy the work others did. And why not, if it was a good work? Maiden wrote some great tune in the Bailey era, problem was only that Bailey wasn't able to develop them to their fullest potential. Plus Bruce is a really cool and down to earth guy. There's a youtube video taken from a radio show where he interviews Blaze Bailey. I think there's one with Di Anno too, but maybe I'm wrong about that.
+jazztom86 Bruce also did Man on the Edge (I think as a live B-side to the Wicker Man) Black Sabbath were another band with Deep Purple's problem, with Dio and multiple other singers singing the Ozzy tracks, Ozzy is the only one that refuses to sing Dio and the others Sabbath songs.
I've watched both Blaze's version and Bruce's version and while Blaze's voice suits the song better, Bruce definitely energizes the rest of the band and crowd more than Blaze could have ever imagined doing. You can hear it in their performance that they're happier with Bruce singing. Nothing against Blaze, but Bruce is Maiden's singer, nobody- and I mean nobody- else could ever permanently replace him.

Bruce's performance is outstanding 🤯👏
4:00 is so funny, Bruce making like Blaze and singing a full octave down. Okay, almost a full octave, since the original is in E and this version is in D, one step lower.
ahha, bruce, give it up already, you sound like a girl, you cant change that :P
actually this song is still in standard tune they reversed the keys instead of starting in the key of e like the blaze version they started in the key blaze sang in then went to eye as for anyone still debating Bruce versus blaze I am sorry Bruce kills it on this song he opened up the ranges and made it sound more maiden like as for the comment about Bruce not being able to sing it in blazes key wrong again Bruce could do it but the vocals would sound too high if anything Steve and janick altered the keys so blaze could sing where this version with Bruce was the original arrangement of the song and was probably left over from the fear of the dark sessions as for brave New world their are four tracks left over from vertiul x 1 the mercenary dream of mirrors blood brothers the nomad so are we going to say blaze would have sounded better you guys are out of your mind
Gabriel Stern somebody’s actually making sense in the comments ! Can you imagine Blaze singing Nomad Mercenary or Bloodbrothers ? Eewwww
undoubtedly one of the best vocalists in the world ... alias the best vocalist in the world in my humble opposition unparalleled voice
People is like women it is impossible to understand
For me like this is very epic
I didn't listen to the Blaze era but Maiden isn't Maiden without Bruce. But I have to say I heard him in concert and the voice is 60% gone now.
This version is insanely good
I like most the voice of dickinson but I like most the style of blaze in song
I like Blaze, his contribution to maiden and his other projects but hell Bruce nails it here, fantastic performance.
LOVE THIS bruce and blaze love both versions
EDDIE rules! Up the Irons!
but I thought we have to hate one? :)
8o86 nah
only Bruce
What a great version - superb. William Golding would be so proud of this tribute
Bruce sobe lá encima nas notas altas.Canta muito esse baixinho....
Né mano, cantou uma oitava acima, humilhou demais
Great performance on this gem... also the way Bruce pays his tribute to Blaze that he stood still the entire song as Blaze would have done.... great Iron Maiden.
Don’t forget the sideburns.
Comparto plenamente!
“I like all the mixed emotion and anger
It brings out the animal the power you can feel
And feeling so high with this much adrenalin
Excited but scary to believe what we've become.” This verse is so perfect. An absolute psychological thesis on murderous movements from Nazism to murderous Communism to cults like the Manson Family. Inside every person no matter how holy or how noble lays a murderous savage that is only tamed by the civilized world.
Bruce the great!
Eternamente Iron Maiden.
👍❤
I like the way Bruce is just standing singing with all emotions only he can put in a song. No running, no jumping, just singing.
I could spend my whole life listening Bruce sings this song
I think that last repeat of the chorus is game, set and match. This is the definitive version of this song.
Exactly!
Meh... gimmie Blaze
bruce was awesome! and janicks jump solo was so cool
Bruce will never be replaced
Never ever
His voice charisma and energy on scene are inegalable
And will stay untill the end of times
Love you and respect so much dear Dickinson and all the members of the band Iron Maiden

Up the irons
Man it was awsome when they surprised with playing this one! The tours need more of these!!!
Bruce is the best singer for Iron Maiden and always will be. Enough said..Up The Irons..!
i like it that they don't try to make it sound "modern" like it did on the album.
it just sounds like the straight-up old-school Maiden we all know and love instead.
and that's awesome, feels like they just took the song and tailored it for Bruce's voice.
Absolutely positively much better version! Get well Bruce!
Bruce Dickinson is the man, he can sing Paul D'ianno's songs and Blaze Bayley's songs without any problem. UP THE IRONS!!!
Bruce is Iron maiden soul, thank's God he's back! Iron Maiden is the sound track of my live.God Bless the irons
Forget the discussion whether Bruce is better or blaze is...
Surely Adrian made the intro riff fckin Amazing..!!
Maidenize666 well janick sucked but adrian played the song really awesome.
Fuck yeah
Maidenize666 fuck yeaj
Maidenize666 fuck yeahhj
Maidenize666 fuck yeahhhh
Brutal. Mágico. Maiden es una bestia descomunal.
I love this dvd apart from one thing: the editing (I believe Steve Harris was responsible for this). Why on earth do they have to switch between different shots every half a second!? God, it makes my eyes hurt!
Yeah, Rammstein did the same thing with Rammstein Paris. So stupid
Rush in Rio. Great sound but unwatchable
You know its bad when the dvd starts with a seizure warning
Clássico 🤘🏻🖤 Jannick Gers Monster!!! ☠️🖤💪🏼
Belted out, an entire octave higher than Blaze... Bruce showboating, and it's awesome :D
This album aged epically. Up the irons!
My Favorite Song!
So deep and underrated song.
This Pakistani friend of mine introduced me to heavy metal. He used to rave on and on about the musical prowess of this band and its lyrical depth. Meeh
Awesome
Bruce sings this song really good.
bruce is the god of metal and iron maiden he can sing Everything..
UP THE IRON'S !!!!
@@DeathAndHate 🤭
A voz do Blaze é absurdamente mais rock'n'roll nessa música. Ele fez coisas maravilhosas no Iron (vide Man On The Edge, Justice Of Peace, Doctor Doctor - cover simplesmente sensacional).
I aggree with you, Blaze sings good for that record and the virtual XL, but Bruce just takes it a higher step that no one can do. Bruce are an Epic singer and frontman, my hero of all time!
Up The Irons!!
Obra maestra 😍
Eu simplismente amo essa banda....
Muitooo bom!
Blaze low voice is amazing, such a great signer !
Wow, Bruce takes this song to another level.
is it just me or is it scary how much he sounds like rob halford at 1:55
Wow... That voice of Bruce Dickinson and the intention that he puts in each song ... it's really exciting to listen to.
Exceto Man on the Edge, que encaixou perfeitamente na voz do Bruce.

I just want to live my own fantasy
Fate has brought us to these shores
What was meant to be is now happening

Living on edge it feels... it makes me feel as one
Who cares now what's right or wrong it's reality
Killing so we survive wherever we may roam
Wherever we may hide we've got to get away

I don't want existence to end
We must prepare ourselves for the elements
I just want to feel like we're strong
We don't need a code of morality

I like all the mixed emotion and anger
It brings out the animal the power you can feel

For this song better Blaze!!!!
Great!
I like things better with bruce version especially with bruce goimg higher but I like blaze version better because of his dark voice both are equally as good on this song I don't favour either or
Sounds a bit like a different song when Bruce sings it.
Blaze the Best 🤘🏻💚
i love blaze. i just prefer this version.
blaze gets his props for having one of the most amazing solo careers ever. ;)
Outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!
@@benstephenson8993 My apologies then I am just sick of the stuff going on about blaze I have seen news articles and comments like why didn't maiden tune down for blaze and this and that there is a, reason maiden didnt tune down it would hsve compromised thete sound and thus particular is included it's transposed with note reversals but not tune downed at all and guess what thus, song was actaully originally written with Bruce's voice in mind in the first place not blaze Bailey and I agree this is the best version and I was referencing afraid to shoot strangers that's a Bruce song too
Thankfully Bruce did come back and so did adrian and maiden is still going strong ohh and for those blaze Bailey defenders it took a 14 month tour to wear out Bruce's voice live which did not recover until 1990 VS blaze bailey
who could not make it through one tour without any cancelations.
This version is better than the album, bruce nails it!
but blaze is an amazing singer too and both versions kick some serious ass!
Cool picture
BY FAR the best version
okay thats your opinion i thik OWNS this song Blaze just dosint fit in Maiden
Blaze the best.
one of my top 5 metalbands.nice
I prefer Blaze's voice for this song, his heart was more in it, not to take anything from Bruce, it's just the way it was written Blaze has a more edgier and darker voice more suited to this song.
totally agree
Love this version
Bruce makes it even better, as with every X and XI song, as he did with remember tomorrow. In my opinion. The Clansman live with Bruce is an instant classic!
I like both of them, but in songs like this one I think that Blaze sounds much better.
agreed!
I agree 100& man \m/!!
CeltisManOne 1.0 you forgot one thing ;) this is fucking 2006 tour :) for this song you need to back bruce from Long beach arena :)
+tornike imedadze If we could bring bruce back to his voice in the 1980's, this song would be a classic
think it was 2003. 2006 was the matter of life and death tour
However in this case, Bruce's vocal range can handle this song so I find it interesting they choose to do this.
because they prob see it as a maiden song, not a Bruce and or blaze song.
+jazztom86 Bruce also did Man on the Edge (I think as a live B-side to the Wicker Man)
Black Sabbath were another band with Deep Purple's problem, with Dio and multiple other singers singing the Ozzy tracks, Ozzy is the only one that refuses to sing Dio and the others Sabbath songs.
I love this intro!
As much as i love bruce.. this son was made blade vocal as futurreal.. 100 times better on blaze vocals!
Check the 2004 Live version on Chile. Sounds awesome with the crowd (all Concert)
blaze the best.
Fuck Blaze, he SUCKS !
4:17 a 4:37 .. BLAZE NUNCA CONSEGUIU CANTAR DESSE JEITO!!! nunca
Justin Rudolf I´m not talking about replace Bruce, not at all, but for the rest of your comment, have you looked at Iron Maidens offical video, with Blaze ? That one is a total blast !!!
Bruce CAN scream! Thats the difference and he should do so. He is way better than Blaze who often sing wrong and missed the key
