Much respect to the skill of these fighters in ww2. They didn't have the technology to just lock on to targets like today's fighter jets. They had to practice, and master strategies of getting behind and in front of the enemy by diving down, or pulling up, and diving in again. They were skilled fighters on a level that even today's fighter pilots wouldn't match if they were using the same type of aircraft.
Brits literally had to train to do it in days. My uncle, brother of my grandma, was a Spitfire pilot. Those Men were made of something else, which most are not made from now!

This song gets me absolutely pumped in the morning It's absolutely insane to think about how lethal some of our great grandparents were with a pair of wings wrapped around a gun and then settled down to become quiet farmers. Their generation was no joke!

Aces High was about the Battle of Britain in 1940, the Red Tails weren't in the European war in Italy until around 1943/44.......lol. Anyone who knows real aviation, will know the CGI makes the planes look like they handle differently......and the only time a P-51D could catch an Me-262 jet was either taking off or landing.
The video wasn't supposed to be based on the battle of Britain. I used red tails because they had good cgi in the movie. I don't care what the song is about actually but to me being an American is about all Ace's and I don't care what anybody says. I take pride making this video but the song is bad ass and my video is with it is bad ass. I appreciate you watching it.

O yeah, and, a P51 could catch an Me-262, if its falling. Theres this cool little thing called terminal velocity., did you see how every time a P51 caught an Me was when it was falling straight down?
My dad flew Spits and then finally P51 Mustangs C's (Rolls-Royce Merlin and no rear window) into Berlin escorting the bombers.....wonder if they ever "crossed sites" on each other? He crashed twice and escaped/jumped the POW train to the camps. A remote farm hid him till health.....only to go back and do it all over. Even up to the 1970's he'd get German shrapnel removed from his legs and underside. A very interesting man and lifetime aviation nut, RIP dad; 1993.

Don't forget Mexico did it's part in WW2, they had the 201st Fighter Squadron "Aztec Eagles", that was attached to the 58th Fighter Group of the USAAF, the 201st was credited with stopping 30,000 Japanese troops in the Philippines and many of the 201st Fighter Squadron lost their lives in battle. But God bless America, England, Mexico and every country for their participation in ridding the world of tyranny.

My favorite part was the Me-262 fights at the end. I understand alot depends on the pilot in the box, but even the more advanced late war Mustang's would have had a hell of time trying to take these early jet fighters down, even with a rookie pilot.
Me 262s were 100mph faster than the P51, had to be attacked on the ground, but for their every 1 we had 10. I’ll take that Merlin over the Junkers any day though.
Plenty of me 262s were shot down or damaged in mid air. Yes they did have a significant speed advantage, but they were very slow to accelerate. And it was even worse when they had to turn.
@@nrdy8221 Sure. Around that time, they started having resource shortages. The allies' strategic bombing Champaign had taken it's toll on Germany's industry. And the fighting had caused them to lose a lot of experienced pilots.

One thing I learned recently is, 30mm auto cannon did 1000 times more damage than a 20mm auto cannon. 20mm made at best a fist size hole exploding 0.1 second after contact. 30mm made a hole you could stand in, or at least crouch. Me 262 had a 50mm auto cannon. I'm not certain what size hole they made. I don't think many planes were hit by 50mm and made it back. So not as much documentation.
I once worked with a WWII B17 pilot who flew all his required missions and he never saw one enemy German plane. That was the reality of the German Air Force in 44-45.
Great video, although I doubt Mustangs had that kind of success rate against the 262 in the air. Most 262s were downed as they were landing or already on the ground, not high up in aerial combat.
I read a book a long while ago that states you were more likely to survive the Normandy Beach landing than a full tour in the 8th Air Force. That's some shit.

Went to see a Maiden tribute band this time last year. They opened with this, just as the war had started in Ukraine. I heard it with fresh ears.
This, is probably unique as an absolute, definite view of the air war in early '45. A remarkable contribution to history.

One thing I learned recently is, 30mm auto cannon did 1000 times more damage than a 20mm auto cannon. 20mm made at best a fist size hole exploding 0.1 second after contact. 30mm made a hole you could stand in, or at least crouch. Me 262 had a 50mm auto cannon. I'm not certain what size hole they made. I don't think many planes were hit by 50mm and made it back. So not as much documentation.
I once worked with a WWII B17 pilot who flew all his required missions and he never saw one enemy German plane. That was the reality of the German Air Force in 44-45.

Fighters usually flew higher than the bombers. They also didn't go that slow, they weaved to keep their speed up.

Great video, although I doubt Mustangs had that kind of success rate against the 262 in the air. Most 262s were downed as they were landing or already on the ground, not high up in aerial combat.
