Yes Larry, I appreciate the reaction videos. I hate to admit it, and please do not take offense, but 2023 was sort of a dry spell for your channel. So much so that I thought you had lost the magic, but I was stunned one day when I got a recommendation, for your first reaction video. After that, by the time I got off work on Friday, there was like a whole smorgasbord of videos to watch. It was like slow down 😅! These videos have been a breath of fresh air for your channel, and I have been glued to them ever since. I think it's because it's you in your element. Larry Graves talking about classic rock. What could be better 🙂? Shut out the haters Larry and keep up the good work 👍

    6. Strange Days
    5. Soft Parade
    4. Waiting For The Sun
    3. Morrison Hotel
    2. LA Woman
    1. The Doors
I just never connected to Strange Days as much for some reason. But I have all the albums you showed, all the live albums from their Bright Midnight label, interview cds, bootlegs. And bought the every album every song book because you mentioned it. Been a fan since college in the early 90s.
Agree on the post Morrison releases. The two albums are not the same but still really good. And American Prayer is pretty great, how they added music to his poetry reading. In Concert was the first live thing I heard, still partial to it.
And I recommend Ray And Robby albums too, if you haven’t heard them. Especially Ray, actually. His first two albums (Golden Scarab, The Whole Thing Started With Rock And Roll…) are up there with Other Voices and Full Circle I think. And Robby had a couple albums I really like, No Habla and a self titled one.

For me, I go between LA Woman and Morrison Hotel being my number one. It’s like splitting hairs though. “Indian Summer” on MH is such a beautiful moment. But the title track on LAW is an all time rock banger. Mr Mojo Risin’!

Great video, Larry. These ranking videos pertaining to a specific band are among my favorites of yours.
Have lots of love for this group. Long ago I read the Morrison biography Break on Through, which I enjoyed. I also read Morrison's poetry collections The Lords and The New Creatures. (I must say, however, that I'm not too fond of An American Prayer.) And, to top it off, I even read Aldous Huxley's The Doors of Perception, the inspiration for the band's name.
When I was in Paris one time, I visited Morrison's grave at Père-Lachaise.
I have to go with the debut album as my favorite, followed by L.A. Woman, but the other studio albums are great, as well. Haven't heard Other Voices, and now I'm curious. Will enjoy your discussion video on it.

An American Prayer is great. I have heard Other Voices and Full Circle but not so familiar with them. My favourite album is Morrison Hotel and least favourite is The Soft Parade - Shaman’s Blues is on of their best songs; Runnin Blue and Wild Child are very good; Wishful Sinful and Touch Me are ok. My ranking is:
    1 Morrison Hotel
2 LA Woman and Strange Days
3 The Doors and Waiting for the Sun
    6 The Soft Parade
    Top 12 songs
    1 The Changeling

    6 The Unknown Soldier
    7 The Crystal Ship

Great video and list! I love the Doors very much and I also have that every album every song book as a recommandation from your channel and I am so happy with it. I need to check out an American prayer, but other than that, as a ranking, I would have:
    8. Other voices (7/10) - a good album
    7. Full circle (7,5/10) - a bit more interesting to me, also a song like Verdilac seems like an inspiration from Zappa’s style, at least to my ears
    6. The Soft Parade (9/10) - very underrated and I love its overall feel with the horns and everything
    5. Waiting for the sun (10/10) - I think it’s their most diverse one, Not to touch the earth might be in my top 3 Doors songs, I think you should listen to it more and you might end up loving it more
    4. The Doors (10/10) - undoubtedly one of the greatest debuts ever
    3. L.A Woman (10/10) - one of the greatest last albums ever (considering the Doors with Jim)
    2. Morrison Hotel (10/10) - Hard rock cafe might be their greatest side, but I love the whole album
    1. Strange days (10/10) - It features my favorite intro song of all time, and it’s definitely their most unique sounding album, too overshadowed by their debut

I think I bought the debut album of The Doors in 9th grade (because my friend told me to), followed by An American Prayer (because the record store owner told me to). I shocked my family (as well as myself) when I played American Prayer on our family stereo system. I had no idea it was going to be so graphic. And it goes from loud to soft throughout. I went ahead and bought every Doors record (sans 13) while my classmates were busy listening to Madonna and such. I think No One Hear Gets Out Alive - the first Morrison/Doors biography (panned for inaccuracies and poor writing) by Danny Sugarman was released during my sophomore year in high school and I just loved it (except the cover art). The albums, Other Voices and Full Circle were a let down for sure - a friend of mine happily bought them. Ray Manzarek's The Golden Scarab is much better. That record deserves more love. Ray has excellent wit in addition to his poetry and music. I saw his tour with Michael McClure back in the '80s. Great stuff. Take care Larry - you're one of the best out there! Glad you renamed your channel - but would have watched the video just the same! Peace!

L.A. WOMAN was my first Doors album, and the first ones often become your all-time favorites. After that, I'd have STRANGE DAYS, MORRISON HOTEL, THE DOORS, and STRANGE DAYS. I need to get the deluxe version of SOFT PARADE to listen to the songs without the orchestra embellishments. Don't have the two without Morrison. Enjoyed your video!

Hi Larry , when I was teenager none of my friends liked the Doors . But over the many years I’ve come to really appreciate their music and unique sound. You really can’t go wrong with any of the original Doors albums. The others without Morrison I’m not familiar with. Actually I regret not seeing them when they went on tour with Ian Astbury as the 21st Century Doors . There’s nothing like a live performance to see what any artist is really about .
