***** Periphery is the mainstream band of prog metal. Of course they're gonna "have a signature instrument from every player in the band". Companies know that people who don't know any better will buy from their company just to have a signature model. Why do they have to turn to other bands and do collaborations? Because they don't have the fan base they used to have....that's why. They aren't innovative enough to keep it original. I'm willing to bet you think they invented "djent". I'm also willing to bet you are going to google who the original prog metal band is and tell me you already knew. Trust me 90% of periphery fans think they are the best at prog metal and over praise them. Get over it and listen to better bands.
+Nick Paris The point of view I'm coming from is from a realization that periphery wasn't that great of a band as I thought they were. They push out music faster than guitar hero pushes out video games. They know fans will buy their "music" and praise it to be the "best album yet" and when it hits high on the leaderboard it just gives more fuel to the fans and makes them praise periphery as "the best". I came from that state of mind and I didn't like being a sheep to a band. Prog metal was doing just fine without periphery or "bulb". Your life will be a whole lot better without periphery and better music will enter you library.
+Nick Paris I'll admit I loved their first album when Orbin was still their drummer. But after that I kept asking myself if I was buying their music because I was a fan or if I actually enjoyed their music and it was because I was just a fan. Their music isn't anything compared to other actual talented bands out there that don't have 10 albums made in 5 years. It's kind of sad that I can tell which songs of Animals As leaders they took part of and it annoyed me to be honest because I want to get as far from them as possible but they keep leaking into bands that I listen to. It's a poison. It was a relief to get out of their loop.
