21:51 them drums sounded righteous when they came in. Man I was like this instruments is okay at first, but when you put that track together at the end it took it up a notch for me. Love and appreciate your review videos. Gives us that real world video without too much technical jargon. Big ups as usual!

Nice review! FYI the latest release 3.5.2 allows you to use the arrow keys up and down to scroll, right to drill down, and right again to load.

Man this along with Maschine Studio new 2.2 Chord and arp update mixed with over 60 of my Kontakt libraries and this 88key Korg KronosX I'm not sleeping but the new update in Maschine makes a lot of new and old things come to life.

SoundsAndGear.com it's funny it's a Dream feature packed I was with Good friend TomiToniTonis Dwayne Wiggins who had one first now I'm all in the Box I use pretty much everything you have in your videos Arturia Keylab49 as my main controller but when I got the KronosX I been using that as a Basic controller yea a 3800$ as a midi controller lol but to answer your question it has some what I call quick Tink sounds I pull from it but for a person who wants to learn the whole maschine it's endless.As I start on this new 112 Record and Disney Pop group in the next few days I will use the KronosX key section banks as I said I have everything linked to Maschine so the new Chord and Arp mode just brings out everything in a person's studio the fact I can turn on arp or chord mode on let's say The KronosX or a patch in Reason 8 or Sampletank3 or my Ultra nova 2.2 if your a Maschine user was a game changer sorry for my winded answer but I'm a Gear Head Alongside Grammy nominated Producer Keep up the Great Work and Videos man.

Yea I like the Roland But I already had the Full Roland Keyboard in a Kontakt Kit and I loved the 500 Gig HDD and USB 2 0 ports the Korg had Buy I love Roland I use to own a Fantom X6 Now I have all there new Keyboards in Kontakt witch you can get the KronosX in Kontakt I think But there was just way more features on the Korg and dawayne Showed me so much I was sold.
kevin norton Word fam, I rather have the board than Kontakt instruments, but that's personal preference. I was looking at the Kronos too, def some dope stuff on there. I use as sound devices so sequencing and everything isn't really important to me, I just want access to sounds fast lol.

Saint Joe, great review as always. I find Sampletank 3 (based on your review, and other demo's) like Sampletank2 to be sonically pretty average. Nothing quite jumps out at me to make me want to purchase (I do own ST XL). I will however admit the layering ability within the plugin is pretty dope. Just wished they offered better quality sounds over quantity. Keep doing what you do!
Yeah it's a decent bread and butter workstation, I was surprised by a few things like the bass sounds I thought they were above average. Everything else is decent, eps, organs, strings, guitars were nice also.
Philo Beddoe There's some slides and such in there, and some fret noises. They sound cool, and you can choose to use them or not as well.
Have you checked out Zebralett? Powerful Synth & Free Great sound's. It's worth downloading & no iLok needed.

It's for Amp sim's FX...it's free & you can do more than guitar & Bass w/it , it has a 4 track recorder for quick ideas..I brought a Drum loop in & started slowing the Tempo down & messing with the pitch in the 4 trx then added FX , the result is a trx that sound's like a Synth nothing like a Drum loop. I do mostly Guiar Bass & Drums based music , but I can see that any one could use this Great Tool & you can buy more Amp's FX's ...Rack Gear is included as well as stomp box's many routing options & very easy to navigate very intuitive.
I think you are being very generous with you star rating Saint Joe... Id give it 3/5. After 10 years of waiting... this is the best they can come up with? Im still getting importing issues with legacy libraries... The sounds are quite cool but I think the overall product is already behind the competition...
I just look at it for what it is, to me a 4/5 means it's usable, a bit beyond just average. I feel the bass instruments could have stood on their own as a product honestly. And some of the other instruments were really well done. However, I also realize it's meant to be a workstation, bread and butter instruments, so in that case there really isn't much that would or could be ground breaking. Though I also haven't been waiting for 10 years, but I know I really didn't like the instability issues of the previous verison and the interface was just too small. Dope review, as usual. Believe it or not I got the full version Sample Tank 3 for free when I bought their iRig multimedia midi keyboard. I'd never heard of Sample Tank until then and I can't believe my good fortune getting it for free. It has now become one of my most go-to tools. The way you can just drag the midi clips onto an Ableton track is the shitz. Also, if you know of better sounding piano samples I'd like to see them. All of the samples are top shelf, but the piano samples are what sets this apart from everything else, in my opinion. I feel fortunate to have Sample Tank in my arsenal. Especially for free...
Cool, thanks for watching! Definitely a good deal for free. As for "better" there are tons of different pianos, it's all about what you're looking for and what you like. If you dig what's in ST3, then enjoy it, it's a great plugin.

A big selling point for me is the new SampleTank 3 is 64 bit. I have to play the Total Workstation bundle in the 32 bit version of Sonar. But all my other soft synths play in the 64 bit version. So all you have to do is get this, and you import legacy instruments, the other 4 programs into it, so everything will play in 64 bit. Sonik Synth, Sample Moog, Sample Tron, and Miroslav.

best representation of ST3 yet!.. However .. im still curious to know how you think it fairs against its predecessor , i mean .. for those of us who have ST2 ... is this REALLY more than a cosmetic change in the UI .. or would YOU say it was definitely worth the upgrade price point.
I would say it's worth the upgrade, some of the bass sounds are really good imo as well as the guitars and organs. Some of the sounds take longer to load though do to them being much larger, however I really just didn't like the interface of the previous version. The mixer and inclusion of the fx is nice as well. Maybe you have some jampoints you can use to get a discount? :)

Hi, nice review. Do you think it contains "enough" orchestral samples? I don't see what extra Miroslav Philharmonik can bring to the table.
+cardos Miroslav is dedicated exclusively to orchestra sounds, where this may just have some included. You may get more options, articulations, etc, in a dedicated orchestra library. There are also other higher end orchestra libraries that just sound better.

Great video! My only problem with SampleTank, SampleMoog, etc, is since I switched to Sonar X3 (32 bit), I've noticed it crashes the DAW. I upgraded to SampleTank 3 on the hopes that it would fix this problem, but X3 won't even show up when I go to VSTs within the DAW (if I just go to the folder on my computer, I can see the dll file). Not sure what's going on with IK Multimedia files and Sonar, but it sucks (note: All my other 3rd party plugins and vsts work just fine. Amplitube and T-Racks also work). Weird. Just running SampleTank 3 in stand alone works and sounds great, by-the-way.
ST3 is only 64 bit now so that may be the issue.
INSTALLED SAMPLETANK ON WINDOWS 10 AND USING STUDIO ONE 4 INSTALLED THE SAMPLES IN MY DOCUMENTS ETC AND WHEN ONPENING UP SAMPLETANK THE INSTRUMENTS DOESNT SHOW ONLY ON THE PATTERNS BUT THERE IS NO SOUND

Good stuff. I would like to see a video on importing .wav files and using the Pitch Shift/ Time Stretch. Liked what I saw from a video on it but it only skimmed over it. I would also like to know if there are any known issues with loading .wav or mp3's? The demo doesn't allow importing, therefore, I'm left with no answers. Please let me know!
I don't use it in that capacity, I only use it for playing back instruments so I'm not sure.
How is the sound quality compared to Komplete? I'm thinking about adding it to my collection.
Sounds good, there's a lot more in komplete though, since it's more than one instrument. Just depends on what you want and how you like to work.

yan beats This isn't specifically for Maschine, it works in any host that can load plugins. Ableton, Logic, Pro Tools, Sonar, Studio One, etc.
Hey, something I'm trying to find out that you might want to mention going forward. Maybe it's just my DAW, but I have orchestral essentials and love their raw epic tones but notice the attack is always so slow in the envelope and even changing that doesn't do much. Then I try the ones that come in Kontakt's library and they attack instantly but sound rather thin or lifeless. Does this sampletank have better tone than the standard kontakt 5 library and also lacks that attack issue on the notes for the instruments that attack instantly like trumpets, trombones, etc. I can just move the midi tracks to the left to line up the initial best part of those notes, but figure there's better ways
I'm not really a fan of Kontakt's standard orchestra but it's really a personal taste thing, and how you use them. That's also why there are so many orchestral libraries out here. I don't think everything in here sounds good orchestral wise either, but there are some usable sounds to be found.
I liked the keys in here but between rig and addictive keys cant get much better than that lol. Im an audiophile btw. Worse is im not a big synth fan like thay swagg plug in. I like that funk and dont want to sample haha. We musicians can get picky right? Still saving up for vintage horns. Then ill be set til you drop more knowledge lol.
Mindyour Tongue We are similar, I prefer more real instruments as well. I like a good synth, but my music is rarely synth heavy. Mainly instruments with a synth lead or something. I definitely love keys, guitar, strings, horns, etc.
If I use a synth, it's like I did here soundcloud.com/art-vasch/new-suit like that old school moog style that you'd hear in the tail end of the motown era when it started getting electric, but before it went pop. Just met this dude you should check out if you can, he plays classical violin over beats. I think it's a hot concept and he's a cool guy. Don Destin? I thought it was this crazy awesome synth lol, but yeah, good stuff. Just found out minutes ago so it's fresh on the brain, had a long talk with him about some production stuff. I know you're going to recognize some of those melodies, btw lol. You helped me find them

I just have question...i used sampletank3 trial version, but when i try to play there was so much delay of about 1 second or more...what do you think is the cause? my laptop is Sony i5, 2.3 processor and 4 gig ram... help me pls i want to buy this software...thanks...

Can you show how to use sample tank with studio one. I can't seem to find it and no one has been able to help me.
Once you install it, you open it as a plugin. You need to have Studio One Producer or higher since you can't use plugins in Artist.
Interesting that Omnisphere is older 6 years and sound quality is way better and sonicly is much different, what irony.Thanks for review, love your reviews.
Omnisphere is a totally different beast imo, it's not meant to be a "general workstation" like SampleTank. So I wouldn't use it in the same way as ST, which is more for those bread and butter type sounds. Thanks for watching!
Hey, nice video. Do you know if you're able to save " assign control" commands? I'm in the organ patches and I assigned my mod wheel so it can sound like I've added a Leslie to it. But when I get out of the patch and come back it didn't save. I lose what I did. Do you know if I'm able to save? Thanks.

Question i got tank 2tank 3 works fine in cubase 7.5 and logic 9 i been searching on Google to find out how to install in pro 10.39 only shows tank 2 but with out any samples but i only need tank3 to be install i try different ways but no luck any idea s how the plugin shows on pro tools but it wont in the instrumentals plugin i know is only on 64 bit tks

colbalt95 You want to add sounds to SampleTank? I believe they would have to be in SampleTank format unless you plan to map the samples yourself.
SoundsAndGear.com That' the best part of SampleTank, you just load your own wave=.wav files by following the naming convention that goes like...
MYSoundFile C3 v127.wav
Be sure to maintain the spacing between the name | the key placement | the midi velocity, one space should be place between each.
If you have multiple sound files, import all of them at once and follow the instructions on the load -in menu. With this example, I would have loaded one sound file with the name MYSoundFille, and would have been placed on the C3 key of the sampler keyboard, with the midi velocity value of 127 (the maximum midi velocity). You can change these numbers accordingly to arrange your own sounds how ever it make sense in your own head. You can essentially load drum samples all over the keyboard exactly how you want, and change the velocity value to give you more, or less volume for the sounds. Pretty much the best part of the plugin/app. You should make a video of you recording sounds into your daw, chopping them up, saving the .wav, then loading into sampletank and making a track. It's kind of like having a virtual ASR-10, and probably takes the same amount of time to create a sampled instrument. ASR is still way better (I've got an 88), but you get my point.

Just got this and first impressions were good. I thought for so many sounds it had a small library, and therefore would not sound to great. I was pleased with the sounds. The only issue I have is with the stacking of sounds. It tends to have problems streaming from hard disk. Whilst trying to make a brass section it really started to crap out when I got to 5 or more slots loaded.
Although I have a SSD my libraries are on HDD so that could be the problem, but I dont get those problems in kontakt using a lot more sounds.
Id give it 4 subs lol.
Yeah man, I would love for better disk streaming as one of the really useful ways to use ST is stacking quickly.

The Controllers control every instrument in K9 and 10 and the controllers (all 3 sizes) have lights behind the keys that light up as in Maschine, crazy. Thanks for the reply. Sounds & Gear 4 life.

Dude if you get this over komplete you'll regret it this thing didn't impress me at all I purchased it about a week ago if I could get my money back I would
callofduty0323 I wouldn't recommend this over Komplete at all, and I don't think anyone else would. Komplete is a full suite of multiple products, this is just one product, more comparable to Kontakt than Komplete in my opinion.

Hello bro, please help me, Can I use Sample Tank's one drum called - "Billy cobhum Drums pack" as virtual instrument ? I mean as you are playing drums like kick in one key, snare in another then hihat n so on & on ? Or it is just only groves loops ?

I'm sure you been asked this but how do you feel the sound quality compares with Kontakt 5 and Halion 5 and does it have an advantage over either one of those mentioned VI's? Thanks
With Kontakt it really depends on the libraries you're using, I wouldn't get this as a replacement for Kontakt personally. I don't own Halion so I can't speak on it. This is a good all around library though.

What if you don't have third party libraries? The demos for Kontakt's stock libraries didn't blow me away. This is looking far more appealing.
Another question: all the patches sound quite processed. Can you turn off the effects (it sounded to me like compression and reverb a lot of the time), and send the drums to multiple outputs, for example?
Django Flaherty I'm not a huge fan of Kontakt factory personally, but there's some usable stuff in there. And most of the fx can indeed be turned off.

Never used it for that and don't really use this much these days (I use the iOS app more personally) I'd say hit up IK or ask on their forum.
Does it work well with the MPC Renaissance? I'm very new to the VST world. I have what came with the Ren, plus I added the Komplete 10, and now I'm looking for something a little scaled back and with easier access to the sounds.

I have the Komplete 10, paid 499 for it, and NONE of the Bass sounds sound like wheat I heard you play! The Rhodes sounds that you played sound better than everything that I currently have as well. But just as soon as I was about to make the purchase, I saw that they had free versions on Sample Tank 2. I downloaded ST2, and I can't load it as a plugin. Its giving me the same problems that I had when I I 1st got Complete 10, due to the fact that it wasn't compatible yet with El Capitain. So heres my question; is Sample Tank 3 compatible with El Capitain?

Yeah that's generally how I would do it, I'm not a fan of setting up multiple MIDI tracks to the same plugin.
Question: Do you know of any plug in, that can give me that single string, muted rhythm sound? (electric guitar)
I'd suggest checking out Orange Tree Samples, they have some great guitar libraries.
Hey, sir. I'm looking for a SampleTank 3 instrument *_Legato Singing Soprano Ahs_* and wanted to know if IK Multimedia was selling instrument sections individually. I see they have some of the sounds on their page (here: www.ikmultimedia.com/products/st4/index.php?p=instruments#instruments) for ST3 as individual products if people are interested in that, but I don't see the one I want. Actually, the entire reason I planned on getting ST3 had a lot to do with that particular sound - and that I wanted to check the others out. Thanks~
Sorry, I'm not sure if they sell them that way or of that specific instrument, you'd have to contact them directly for that info.

Yeah you should be able to map it to your controller.
I have sample tank 2.5 and it works fine in ableton live lite 8. I got the 64 bit ableton live lite 8 and tried to use sample tank 3 .The sounds are great but it does not work or record properly in either ableton live lite 8 64 bit or mixcraft 7 64 bit which I just down loaded and tried . At least in mixcraft I got it to play properly and record but then it caused mixcraft to crash when I tried to exportmy sample tank midi recording to an audio file. It works fine standalone but if you want to record and export midi to audio, what the hell recording software does it work with as a plug-in? I'd love to know.
Weird, haven't heard of anything like that. I use Live 9, Maschine, S1, etc.

You need to make sure your daw is pointing to the proper plugin folder.

I love sampletank 3, but it sucks in double and triple tonguing in an EWI. No matter how low I set up the attack, it just sucks in that.
jaisaqui You may want to look into samplemodeling, they have some brass/flutes that may work well for that.
how do you load sounds? i have a free sounds pack just don't know how to get them in there;~/ sorry if this is addressed in the video

Plug in a mic, go into the sampler, record the mic.

Depends on what you're looking for. Sampletank 3 sounds like a perfect acoustic instrument rompler. Where as Omnisphere is more dedicated to electronic music. Apples and oranges really. I'd say if you have the money and aren't big into kontakt libraries get this for sure, as well as omnisphere 2

As I stated the looped samples are imcomplete.
They do not sync after 20 secs that's pathetic and no one is talking about this!
in other words the sample start and end time for the loops were unprofessionally done!
Didn't see the last part when I replied. I guess it depends on the sound/sample, 20 seconds seems like a long time, but I would expect a synth to last that long for sure, not so much for something like a violin for example. Not something I noticed as I hadn't held out a note that long.

Ahh...not sure how I would gather that from your comment but yeah that sucks for sure, I don't use their drum loops so I didn't notice that at all.

SampleTank is a sound module, so you'd need to load it as a plugin in your sequencer to make a beat.
@@SoundsAndGear Thank you sir.... I've tried using more than one instrument in the same Sample tank but it doesn't seem to work...so that is to say if I want to use more than one sound on the sample tank I have to load several sampletanks on the DAW
You can do that or you can use it in multi mode and route different midi channels to it. I would say using multiple plugins will be more straightforward.
Very good review, i totally agree with St Joe i found also the sounds to be pretty good when it comes to electric basses, guitars, organs,strings so basically all acoustic sounds are on point but synth sounds are very mediocre.

Everything in this VST takes FOREVER to load for me. When i open the VST it take forever to load the database, and picking random sounds also takes forever.
Is there anything I can do?
I don't think there's any settings for the loading time, outside of trying to store the data on a different drive.
Could be your pc...do u have a lot of ram? And a good processor

Am I so naive that after using SampleTank since it was first available that I feel forced to upgrade my computer the 64bit just so I can continue to give IK my money to use the newest version ? I feel it is a slap in the face that a dedicated user can not use the latest version. Or, am I just splitting hairs and SHOULD have a 64bit OS ?
I use SampleTank 2.5 (I like the Acoustic Guitars) with Omnisphere and Trilian.
Johnny synth I think it's just a matter of them supporting the majority, many folks are runing 64 bit OS these days, but I understand your frustration for sure.

You have to install them.
Sadly, it runs exclusively under a 64-Bit DAW. So no Cubase 5.
