I'd do the trailer black and the fenders gold. That way when the bike is loaded there would be a nice contrast that would accent the gold on the nugget and the bike on the trailer maybe even powdercoat the black and save a lot of money not using all that 1k gold paint

That is ridiculous for the cost of paint and totally unnecessary. They could have painted it Caterpillar heavy machinery yellow and Ed would not have known the difference and it would have been a LOT cheaper... Or paint it school bus yellow and put some lettering on the back saying, "The REALLY SHORT bus"...

If the only choice is black or gold fenders I’d go with black. Of course I said the same thing about the Banana’s door handles and got overruled by Matt. So if he has the final say…it will be gold fenders! 😢 I do agree with other’s comments about blacking out the trailer with gold fenders. Would look sweet with the Rocon on it!

I used to work for a company that sold utility trailers. Number one, most valuable lesson learned, aggressive tires throw rocks at trailers while in tow! Most of the warrenty work that I performed was repairing rock chips caused by the vehicle towing the trailer. If you want the trailer to look good for more than one trip down a gravel road, I suggest installing rock guard on the front facing parts of the trailer. As a side note I had a one week old trailer come back with 100% of the paint gone from the front of the fenders (salt and sand) from Minnesota winter driving!
Hillbilly is a great friend and a value that can't be replaced. I always say ..(a good dude is a good dude). He's proven to far more then that... Great job guys

Regarding the issue with the hitch. A combination dog leg on the trailer not so high as to where the trailer couldn't be towed with a different vehicle, and a bit of drop down on the receiver should be a good solution. That way one wouldn't have to bend down so low to lift the trailer and not have to be too concerned with the hitch dragging if it were left on the Suzuki.
I've been following this build since Matt and crew pulled it out of the woods, and I must say that I am truly impressed with both the quality of the work and the great attitudes of everyone involved! Can't wait to see the finished build, and I'd be willing to bet that it will bring a tear to Ed's eye to see what everyone has done to make his day! Great channel... great crew! Thanks for posting!

Black deck on the trailer and fenders painted Gold. With perhaps the tire holding bar painted Gold as well, to give a nice flow of color when on the road! Also, after watching this series of videos on Robby Layton, I will never complain about how expensive body work and painting is for a car, ever again! You guy do as much work as I do on Scale models, only in real life 1:1 scale!!! RESPECT!

All they have to do it cut a 45 degree angle in the tubing, then cut a piece of tubing with two 45 degree angles opposite each other then run the piece of tubing straight up, then another 45 degree cut to make it parallel to the original plane. Can make it specifically fit the Nugget or make it a universal height. Simple and strong depending upon the welding technician. It can also have gussets inside each 90 degree corners as well as a round tube going up to the top front of the tire loop from the rear of the tongue as well.
Great Team ! a Really busy time with a lot going on, it was awesome to see Hillbilly be part of the solution instead of the problem & come in for the dispatch job, ( helps pay the bills ). A little bit of bondo filler to smooth out that questionable steel for Ed's Nugget is a A LOT different then the thick BS Bondo layers Holly had on Mischief Maker ... awesome work Robby ! That Color is AMAZING !! ... Would never have thought that the paint would cost that much. The Gold Nugget is really going to be worth its weight in gold by the time you guys are done with it. With all of the work and time and help everyone has put into it. It is going to be fantastic. Ed is going to love it, what a lucky guy to have so many friends all helping to do this for him.
You and your team are above and beyond…if all body work was done to this perfection I think less people would buy new all the time…mind you new is not this perfect. Am sure it wouldn’t be cheap to this level of perfection…but still cheaper then new…depends what you want…awesome work guys!🇨🇦
Heck yeah get Hillbilly’s B2 some additional years! I love them machines, even though they’re tippy. Doesn’t need to be Golden Nugget, Banana, or Mischief Maker perfect. It just needs to be on and off the roads another decade or better.👍🏻 Those Cologne engines are affordable rebuild when needed, or upgrade for more hp as many do when that time comes. Gotta address the body cancer and cutout replace where needed.
So I have a Riddler Award winning hot rod shop near me that I spy in on regularly… the time, expertise and effort they put into the hotrods and customs is ridiculous and expensive as!!! … Dollar/time for dollar/time you guys at Layton Autobody and Robby Layton Nation are absolutely killing it … the metal work on that Suzuki was colossal when it had tooling, stamps & dies at the factory, with the resources you’re putting toward it and how much extra labor to document this … it has been awesome to see you all pull it along this far in the time you’ve had … impressively done!!!
To all those complaining about how long they think this project is taking, get yourself to Robbies shop and give them a hand. He has a business to run that is likely paying for this restoration. This isn’t overhauling with a team of 50 working on it…… The nugget is looking GOOD!

The trailer's going to get walked on, scratched, and banged up pretty quickly. I think black, perhaps with gold fenders, would be much more practical.
I would do a black trailer. That way the bike will stand out instead of blending in with the trailer.

That grille looks amazing! For the trailer I'd make it black, with gold fenders as highlights. That way dirt won't show on it as much.
I think giving a goose neck style on the trailer would be really nice, instead of dropping the hitch... it would give better ground clearance too

Instead of a drop hitch that becomes an anchor, do a lift tongue. I do lift tongues on small trailers that makes them much more usable.
Maybe a combination of the two? Hate to make twice the work, but...?

All they have to do it cut a 45 degree angle in the tubing, then cut a piece of tubing with two 45 degree angles opposite each other then run the piece of tubing straight up, then another 45 degree cut to make it parallel to the original plane. Can make it specifically fit the Nugget or make it a universal height. Simple and strong depending upon the welding technician. It can also have gussets inside each 90 degree corners as well as a round tube going up to the top front of the tire loop from the rear of the tongue as well.

Great Team ! a Really busy time with a lot going on, it was awesome to see Hillbilly be part of the solution instead of the problem & come in for the dispatch job, ( helps pay the bills ). A little bit of bondo filler to smooth out that questionable steel for Ed's Nugget is a A LOT different then the thick BS Bondo layers Holly had on Mischief Maker ... awesome work Robby ! That Color is AMAZING !! ... I am pumpin my fist for Ed !! ,,, so many of you TH-cam guys doing all this for Ed .. it's Wonderful in so many ways. ❤❤👍👍 I wanted to add, I hope you guys have a really fun time at the Easter event !, I'm following 4 different TH-cam channels this weekend and you all make me feel part of it, thank you !

Would never have thought that the paint would cost that much. The Gold Nugget is really going to be worth its weight in gold by the time you guys are done with it. With all of the work and time and help everyone has put into it. It is going to be fantastic. Ed is going to love it, what a lucky guy to have so many friends all helping to do this for him.
You and your team are above and beyond…if all body work was done to this perfection I think less people would buy new all the time…mind you new is not this perfect. Am sure it wouldn’t be cheap to this level of perfection…but still cheaper then new…depends what you want…awesome work guys!🇨🇦

I love them machines, even though they’re tippy. Doesn’t need to be Golden Nugget, Banana, or Mischief Maker perfect. It just needs to be on and off the roads another decade or better.👍🏻 Those Cologne engines are affordable rebuild when needed, or upgrade for more hp as many do when that time comes. Gotta address the body cancer and cutout replace where needed.
The amount of work and the level of patience this work takes is crazy. I don't know how you do it, but it is impressive.

So I have a Riddler Award winning hot rod shop near me that I spy in on regularly… the time, expertise and effort they put into the hotrods and customs is ridiculous and expensive as!!! … Dollar/time for dollar/time you guys at Layton Autobody and Robby Layton Nation are absolutely killing it … the metal work on that Suzuki was colossal when it had tooling, stamps & dies at the factory, with the resources you’re putting toward it and how much extra labor to document this … it has been awesome to see you all pull it along this far in the time you’ve had … impressively done!!!

To all those complaining about how long they think this project is taking, get yourself to Robbies shop and give them a hand. He has a business to run that is likely paying for this restoration. This isn’t overhauling with a team of 50 working on it……
