Here I am in 2022, I remember the night Dad brought home a new album, from a brand new band, Living in the 70's Dad was a country boy from Jerilderie, but one of his life's loves was music, all of it, and the Hooks were his Fav next to Slim Dusty, I was 13 then now 60, here I am being a hooker all over again, the original line up, the best, Peter Green, your a champion bloke for sharing my youth....
This is fantastic. I saw them at Cronulla Leagues during this tour and I thought the floor was going to collapse during this song. Everyone was going nuts!
Ahh, Cronulla Sutherland Leagues! An Old Shirey eh?! I grew up in Cronulla-Bundeena (the "Puberty Blues" days of Cronulla). Yo, that floor in the Leaguies' really literally used to bounce up and down, I noticed that (it was a bit worrying). Them were the days,60's, 70s 80's. I remember seeing AC/DC play once in the corner of the (Des Ryan's) Caringbah Hotel. Was at Vic Patrick's Gymea Hotel when The Angels played there one night. The lounge bar got literally half demolished! Old Vic closed it for repairs for a couple of weeks, and said he wouldn't be having the Angels back again (but guess who played the very first gig there after repairs? 🤣😂 Yup, the draw and the money was too good). And just remembering some of the gigs we saw at the Sylvania Heights Hotel. ... Pete (Darwin NT)
I'm an old Aussie rocker. Back in the day when you knew if was Aussie music. Sundaysession scarborough. nothing like it. then off to the Morley generator. Fits 800 people, with cars. Almost as good as the Bussel, Bunbury. Sometimes you'd see angels there.
Saw them live the first time at a Rosebud Youth Club Dance (alternated with Mornington), maybe 1975 or 1976, they were awesome, and got to see them a few more times. Besides them the best band ever at the time, another band doing the Youth Club Dances who were awesome were a band called Redhouse, never heard about them again later on.
Would've been awesome to see Red playing the songs from after he'd quit the band! Don't know about the costumes ... like Bongo's look but Shirl's outfit ... hmmm
Miss this band under appreciated in more recent times RIP Shirl
Awesome ❤❤❤❤

Only 30 years
My favourite Skyhooks song( also love the Maiden version with Dianno). Miss so much Shirl, Doc Neeson and Billy Thorpe.

A classic snapshot from history.
