We picked up our Arctic White 2023 3LT HTC non Z51, front lift, mag ride, performance exhaust; carbon flash top, nacelles, mirrors, low spoiler, wheels, side blades and ACS Composite rock guards; red calipers, black exhaust tips, and red/black interior. We put 2,205 miles, it had 5 miles on it when we picked it up, in the 2 months before having to park it for the winter. This is our second Vette, first was a 2008 convertible, and this is the best vehicle I have ever driven in my 64 years behind the wheel. It does everything extremely well and is very comfortable doing it. We will never track it and it is capable of more performance than I would feel comfortable trying to achieve. We had to bring ours in last year for the software update, had them do it with an oil change as we do them annually. Great video, thank you.
Congrats!! I absolutely love the fact that you are DRIVING the car!! I have a 2022 Z51 2LT and just hit 40,000 miles...its my daily driver here in Houston, Texas and I couldn't be happier with the car. Few issues here and there but nothing crazy. Cheers to you 100,000 mile journey and Happy New Year!
24 Stingray w/Z51 here. At 13 miles, I put in Power Stop ceramic pads. Virtually no dust and great stopping power, although I wouldn't track them. I have some Amazon grill guards but haven't put them in yet. For a 3300 mile trip I used a Novistretch bra and that worked quite well. When I need tires, I think the only change I'll make is to all season Michelin run-flats that come on the non-Z51 cars. Good update!
We helped Power Stop convert The Bondurant School of High Performance Driving from PFC to Power Stop. I also added Power😊 Stop brakes on my Porsche with drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads. No black dust. Great bite. I completed the Nelson Ledges Porsche 2-day event using the Power Stop set up both front and rear.
On the tires ... I have a 2018 C7 Z06 Carbon65 and went with the Continental Extreme Contact Sport and got them at a discount, so it was $900 for all 4. The car rides much smoother and you don't get the hopping when backing out of the driveway like the run flats. I just added a can of fix a flat in the back of the car just in case, but very happy I went this direction as I'm sure you will as well as much as you drive. Enjoy and thanks for the detailed videos.
Swapped out the stock pads at 600 miles for Powerstop z26 pads. Great cold and hot braking with good initial bite and modulation. Very little dust and no noise. Can’t beat these pads for value.
Your car turning on in the garage could've been a MITM attack, someone with a signal stealing device got the signal from your keys and turned your vehicle on, good thing it was in the garage. That's my take on the likely culprit
Great video exclamation point beautiful Carr exclamation point I had a 2020 C8 and I loved it. I now have a 2023Z06 anniversary edition in Pearl White. I drive it!
Thank you for the video review. I find this video very informative. Although I am not a C8 owner yet, perhaps in the future, it's good to know that the car is holding up quite well at 30k miles.
30k miles for Pilot Sports is great, I only run Michelins. With tires that wide, 30k is the norm for tread life especially if you're tracking the car..
Not C8 related, but I have Goodyear F1 RunFlats on my 1999 Hardtop. They are loud as hell, especially on concrete roads. They came on the car when I bought it in April 2023. although they’re date coded 2016, they had 10/32 in the rear and 7/32 in the front so I decided to keep them. Next spring I’ll be getting Continental Extreme Contacts.
I put those tires. On my 02 C5 convertible 6sp and I find them very quiet and decent handling with very good grip too. Not like I track the car but overall I really am enjoying these tires so far. There were Nittos previously on my car that were loud and not so good in cool weather.
Nice video! I'm in the market for a C8 Corvette. What a flawless car. I currently have a C6 ZR1, so I'm trying to decide on an ERay or Z06, but your Stingray is really nice. 👍🏿
My late dad's car buddy had a 70th Anniversary Edition and his car kept going into a state of not being able to start no matter what he or the dealer did. He kept the battery on the OEM trickle charger. I don't recall whether it always got drained or the dealer always had to reset his whole system to get him going again. When I saw this recall I traced it back to his issue. Some cars (like his) attempt an over-the-air update but some software bug causes it to not complete the update over-the-air. So it forces the system into an error state (like the blue screen of death for Windows) and only the dealer can hard reboot it. Or if the update always errors out, it might force the system into an infinite loop of reattempts which kills the battery. His car would spontaneously not start days or weeks apart which tells me that's when the car (or GM's server) spontaneously decides to update his car over-the-air. I suspect the recall fixes this bug so that over-the-air updates don't fail. But the bug fix needs to be done reliably over-the-wire at the dealer.
What you did with the opening the door was reset the instrument cluster I had the same thing happened and they couldn't get mine back in so they replaced the instrument cluster. If your car is still under warranty if I was you I would take it in and have your instrument cluster replaced
Would absolutely love this car with just analog style gauges, A/C and a stick with clutch pedal and nothing else. Would drive it like I stole it. Have a C7 Z06 3Lz. Big mistake not opting for the manual. transmission.
You have had better luck than myself. After one year, my 2023 spent several weeks at the dealership getting a new replacement transmission, then less than 2000 miles later more service regarding ECM and mystery electrical issues. Entire dash display would go blank, engine would shut down or stammer. After a month of attorney/GM letter writing, GM bought it back. When the dealer did the first trans service, they missed ( or so they say ) the metal fragments in the filter and pan. During the trans install, the mechanic crushed, damaged one of the harnesses which led to part of the electrical issues. I truly regret selling my ‘19 C7 Z06. Sold it to buy the ‘23. 52000 miles and not one glitch.
@Leo-fk9ch I owned a C5 for 13 years. During that time, it has numerous issues: Diff leak (2×) Door lock module failure Horn inoperative Smog pump check valve failures (3x) Transmission seal leak Column lock failure Passenger windows motor HUD fading away Climate display went blank. I went to start my car couple of months ago. Window stuck and car was completely dead. Called GM roadside assistance. They send guy out to jump it. He had no idea how to open hood or get to battery. Fortunately I knew how to. Jumped car and drove it to dealership. They did update and cleared some codes. Told me Onstar updates had probably drained battery. Has been perfect ever since.
More like downloading your driving habits, contacts and addresses from your "infotainment" system. Chevy got busted from Onstar capturing and selling your data. Now Chevy has to capture it manually.......
What minimum temperatures did you drive your Michelin 4S's in before parking for the winter? I live in Northern Virginia and recently had all four tires lose traction (on my spec ordered six month-old 2024 Z51 with 4S's and magride) under moderate cornering on curve on a clean smooth four-lane road on a 40 degree F dry November day when the tire temp read "cool" on the dash. Fortunately the electronic nanny caught it and kept it from sliding sideways into the SUV that was going about the same speed in the right lane next to me -- that was extraordinarily sobering if not downright embarassing to say the least. I now have a now have a stack of replacement all-season Michelins and second set of wheels waiting to be mounted. I don't have many miles on the C8 yet but so far it appears to be all I hoped for I only wish it had a bit more headroom at 6'2" despite what I read elsewhere I can only barely fit in the convertible, headroom in the coupe was no go due to the reinforced targa bar. I'm a sucker for high performance options but if I had it to do over again I probably would have ordered the all-seasons and maybe even not the Z51. BTW I decided to go for a fully loaded Z51 with its low-end grunt rather than a base Z06 (both spec'd out at about the same price) as the C8 is intended as a daily driver, I have several other high performance cars (an E63 and a 911) with rpm-related potential that is frustratingly but practically limited by the traffic common in this area.
How many pairs of New Balance were required over the 30,000 miles? Nice ride. The day in 2021 I went to pick up my 911 I got an email confirming an allocation for a C8. I gave up the C8 allocation and am happy with the ‘17 911. Great to see all the miles on the car. I’ve added about 27,000 miles to my car over 3 years and recommend that owners drive their cars. And your wife drives the car! My fiancé is in the drivers seat too, pun intended. In a 911 you can’t see the engine at all, but I did run over some street paint last month so the bottom of the car got customized, while a good detail guy steam cleaned the wheel wells.
I am so glad I didnt waste my time going after a C8 and just picked up a used TA Viper. Chevy should have never put a DCT in the standard corvette because they don't age well and are expensive all around. If I am running a DCT its going to be a Huracan at least because soon replacing a transmission will be as much as trade in value.
Came here to say this. Some extra context that might help others: On most new tires, to get the full length of a limited treadwear warranty, you need a square setup so the tires can be rotated front and back, not just side to side. Also, I’m actually impressed with 30K miles on rear summer tires with a staggered setup like this.
I just purchased a 2025 identically specked c8. The monroney sticker shows $98k and change. What website were you at that has my car for $10k less msrp?

Since there's no spare, if you happen to get a puncture or your tire goes flat are you stuck if you don't have run flats? I have run Flats on my 23 2LT C8 and they run great

"on it's own?" LMAO! Why did you use an apostrophe? Did you forget that "it's" is short for either "it is" or "it has" and neither of them makes sense....thus, the correct spelling is just ITS!!!!
@ I have c7 And I recently got a front splitter and side skirts I used to think it was just for cosmetics, but it really does. Save your paint from rock chips.
Beautiful color. Gotta tell ya, a car that needs software updates...NO, thanks. What happens when they stop supporting it. You'll have a car as worthless as a Windows 98 PC. When they start building cars again instead of rolling computers, I may consider a new one.
To set the record straight, You are incorrect about the total cost of transmission fluid, filter and labor cost! I have owned my C8 for 4+ years now. You did not include the price of DCT fluid or the filter! Fluid is $40 per liter. It requires 10 litres. Filter is $200 from GM. The parts alone cost $600... The labor was perhaps $580! It is not possible with parts total $600 and 3 hours GM labor to equal $580 !
@@pjcornell9691I have to agree with you.. I have a 21' built last week of 21 production. I just did the 3year fluid change.. I purchased my DCT fluid from Boost District for $29 a quart. Labor was $580 for the change.. also the 2 filters was $140 for the external filter, and the interanal (gm does not require a change) was $250
Really - the first impressions should be at minimum 100,000 miles especially with a car that is so expensive. A 1974 Chevy Vega will go 30,000 without problems.
Hackers have learned how to start these cars when they are home. Make sure it's not near a front door or a window in your house. I know someones C8 got stolen because of that.
'22 c8, z51 with a 22,700mi. Here. Incorrect. You do not have to change the transmission fluid at 22,500mi. GM requires 45,000 mi. Or 36mo. Which ever comes first. Only DCY filter cartridge change is required. Look it up. Also, Run flats are horrible. They are heavy. Rides stuff. I went 20/21 with non runflst PS4S. They handle and ride better than the stock. You are going to call AAA wjen you get a flatbed anyway. Also, rinflats on a 20" rim doesn't make any sense. I would get rid of that continental tire. Unless you're driving like a grandmother. When it comes to tires, you get what you paid for.
@@JKim-hb5ry true info! Lots of people get confused about the flush since a flush is done without fluid exchange. You only do a hydraulic flush that cycles the current fluid but there's no addition of fluid required for this.
@@JKim-hb5ry - You really should change the transmission fluid with the same intervals as the motor oil, most people drive it like they stole it, better safe than sorry as it’s a rocket ship. If you change the fluid yourself, it’s like $50 for atf fluid…

Beautiful color. Gotta tell ya, a car that needs software updates...NO, thanks. What happens when they stop supporting it. You'll have a car as worthless as a Windows 98 PC. When they start building cars again instead of rolling computers, I may consider a new one.
My mechanic friend from HS (think 1967 GTO) said computers are great but they don't belong in cars.
How did you only pay 500 for changing the trans oil and filter when it runs $1190
You only paid 500 for the addition of the 2 quarts
Nope. Total bill was $580 for everything.
Labor was $580 for the change.. also the 2 filters was $140 for the external filter, and the interanal (gm does not require a change) was $250
Do it yourself instead of getting ripped off!
The Dealer Software Update sounds very BMW'ish.
Get some akebono pads, theyre the best
LOL. 30k? It is still new. There is nothing to review. Come back after 130k miles.
I will definitely do an update at 100K...just before we sell it.
Well, he tracks the car.
There's nothing wrong with the Continentals
Why would you replace the filter...and not the fluid at the same time. Makes no sense to me. We do both.
@@JKim-hb5ry - You really should change the transmission fluid with the same intervals as the motor oil, most people drive it like they stole it, better safe than sorry as it’s a rocket ship. If you change the fluid yourself, it’s like $50 for atf fluid…

These new corvettes look stubby not sleek
C8s look so horrible. lol
C8 Convertibles are downright ugly. C8 coupes are a little better - but I will never buy one because of the complexity.
That car is a hole in the road to throw money into.
Wait till these C8 warranties expire - they will cost a fortune to get serviced.
