So next step is to only start the board with the low voltage it stopped at and the components that are shorting it out should be getting enough DC current to heat up. So start looking around to see what heats up. Finally you take some liquid flux and you apply it generously in the area that heated up and the component which heats up will be easily visible because the flux will begin to boil. Very easy trick. Just don't keep the board on for too long. Only to determine if it's it's a ic or a capacitor that is causing it.

What kind of problems do we face if the Charging IC is shorted ??? I am facing weird problem in nexus 5, it does not get turned on and does not show the charging battery image, but if I remove the battery connection from the PCB, and connect it to charger, it shows charging icon and then from recovery mode I can start the phone,, then It shows charging but charge percentage doesn't increase shows 0% battery. And after I switch off the phone it again does not turn on normally.. Is it a problem with the charging IC..?? (Battery is ok, new battery was installed)

I purchased a new battery and charged it externally. I placed it in my phone and tried to power up, however nothing happens. I pulled the motherboard out and checked the power switch, it tested ok. Great video. Quick question though..... external power leads connecting to the phone's power terminals. It appears that the positive voltage is connected to terminal #1 (ie. left-most terminal), while the negative side is connected to terminal #3? Will anything bad happen if the red-coloured alligator clip accidentally touches terminal #2? Or if the black-coloured alligator clip accidentally touches termina #4 (ie. the right-most terminal)?

I m going to change pm8841 power ic in nexus 5 because i dropped on hard floor while playing game and it's instantly shut down. After drop i tried charging but no luck but i opened up the phone to check if something wrong then i realize the pm8841 ic was heating up. I tried removing pm8841 power ic and I succeeded but I didn't have solution for cleaning left over soldering wire because i did this at 3 am. I tried to remove debree from PCB other methods but I failed. Anyway in the end I messed up the PCB.
I have an S4 I337 that seems to have the same problem. Won't power on at all, won't vibrate, nothing at all on the screen. Can't even get it to try to cycle on. Suspect this may be my problem. Does that chip only have those five pins? It's hard to tell by the video exactly how many pins you are reflowing.
