  • Classic red 1989 Nissan Sentra. Wrote off by an insurance company. In this video the car is briefly driven and walked around. Do you like these cool little cars? Did you once own one or still do? Tell me and others about it in the comments below.

    Love these! So I have a story. So in 2004 my mom bought a Nissan Quest that was a total lemon, and they gave us a 4 door 89 Sentra as a loaner car. Had to have been the oldest car I their fleet. It rode way better than the Quest did. This era of automotive history is so interesting to me. 85-2000 foreign economy cars seem to just be utterly indestructible!

    I have a '90, still trying to get it running, though. Gotta redo all the TREs and Ball Joints, though. $500 from some dude. Fuel issues, he said. I think Throttle Body Injection is an early version of Fuel Injection...? but maybe yours really does have a carb. Mine's TBI, AFAIK.

    • @highmileagehopes9860
      @highmileagehopes9860  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Aparently mine is throttle body according to other people that have commented. We haven't got rid of it yet like planned. Our was intermittent having fuel issues as well, put a new fuel pump and other parts on it didn't do much but as of now it cleared up on its own. Best of luck on yours!

  • @zmoorer
    @zmoorer ปีที่แล้ว +2

    These Sentras were not carbureted. They had Throttle Body fuel injection. Kind of a hybrid between carburetor and port injection. I believe the Sentras had a carburetor up until 1988 and only the 1989/1990 models had the Throttle Body injection. The redesigned 1991 models got port injection. I bought a new 2 door 1989 Sentra with 5 speed and owned it for 9 years. At least 150K miles and all it needed was a clutch.

    • @highmileagehopes9860
      @highmileagehopes9860  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's what I learned with them. Throttle body is kinda interesting when you think about it. Well put, a hybrid between carb and port injection. This era of Nissan definitely had quality that's for sure, sounds like yours was great.

    I had a 89 2 door 5speed in high school that I bought from my cousin who bought it new in 89. I was dumb and sold it to get an S10. I missed it a lot and had to find me another after I failed to find the one I had in highschool. Found another one owner 2 door 5 speed and drove it for years. ❤️I was finally getting around to restoring mine. Had the engine rebuilt, got wheels & tires ordered a body kit for it, got it painted. As it was getting the finishing touches done on the paint job a couple of months ago, it was stolen from the paint shop 😞 Had the ol car almost 12 years. Now the hunt is on for another one. I can't let these wheels, tire, and body kit just go to waste.
