      Speed is how fast you are going.
      Acceleration is the change in speed. Basically, it describes how much faster or slower you get per unit.
      Even if you want to say it’s acceleration, acceleration is the change in speed, so it’s still speed in the end.

    Cool video about magnetic braking. However, the ending part about superconductors is false. Superconductors can levitate in the presence of a magnetic field due to the Meissner effect. This results in a repulsive force towards the magnet due to the expulsion of the magnetic field from the superconductor. It stays in the same orientation and distance due to flux pinning.

      @@lukeboyer4071Well, there is scaling. Roller coasters are much slower and require less braking, and, as demenstrated here, you can create the effect without *too* much capital. While a mom and pop roller coaster (are those still around?) probably couldn't afford it, Disney or Six Flags can spare a few more thousands for a frictionless brake (especially if it's in conjunction with traditional brakes).

      Please search into orthodoxy. orthodoxy is the first church. The body of Christ. We need the Body of Christ and Eucharist.❤☦️ (John 6:53-58) Jesus is the only way to heaven, just being a good person won’t get you there, while yes doing what God said is requiered. Search into orthodoxy afterwards but first read this. Before you read these next things i want you to know that christianity isn’t about worshiping some deity in the sky because you dont want to go to hell, it’s about a loving and friendly relationship with God. God loves us soooo much no one can understand it. God wants you to tell Him everything, because He is soooo loving. Altough He knows it all He wants you to trust Him and be honest with Him and listen to Him. So now that i told you this read these Bible verses (the word of God) knowing that i’m telling you this out of love and i want you to know it’s not too late to turn and repent and follow Christ❤️❤️❤️ „Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 ESV Bible Repent from your sin (disobedience to God) and turn to God and follow Him so that you WILL be saved. „If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9 ESV „No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.” Luke 13:3 ESV „For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 6:23 ESV ❤️☦️

    This phenomenon is actually used in the emergency braking system for modern elevators. In other words, this is the reason so very few people are injured by falling lifts, even if all the cables snap at once the lift will just gently slow down and then allow the secondary systems to lock it in place.

    • @ZaHandle
      @ZaHandle ปีที่แล้ว +91

      And that’s not accounting for the actual brakes that are only unlocked when there is power and the elevator is moving

    • @ZaHandle
      @ZaHandle ปีที่แล้ว +79

      Also even if all the brakes failed, the elevator wouldn’t fall down because the counterweight is set to 50% of the maximum weight capacity. So unless there’s a lot of people in the elevator, you would actually fall upwards in that situation.

We had to put one in a vice and use a pry bar to get the other one away enough for him to get his fingers out. He had hairline fractures of the bones in his fingers and had to wear a splint for a few weeks. We told him to be careful when he picked them up.
      These came out of an old, very big hard drive. They were about 2”x3” and about 1/3” thick. They were glued to a steel plate that was about 2.5” x 4” and about 1/2” thick. You could strip the phosphor off a CRT monitor, nevermind degaussing. They would stay up on a concrete support pillar in our building by magnetizing to the steel rebar which was several inches in the concrete.
      Absolutely dangerous to get them close to each other. So I can believe that a person could have their hand/arm seriously injured by a magnet but whether it could crush it flat? No clue.

      Yeah wouldn't work. Engineer here, hitting an invisible wall of force at high speed would hurt just as much as the pavement. Levitating slowly down yes but any acceleration/deceleration has to be within human limits so the meteor strike style landings you see portrayed in superhero movies would require superhuman bone strength.
